Chapter three

Flashback:

Axel and I have had the best summer and I knew I shouldn’t, but I started to think about a future together. I knew his family would never accept me as his Luna so we had been secretly meeting all summer. After school we would meet at the lake and picnic on a field overlooking wildflowers.

We would talk for hours, well we wouldn’t just talk. But who could blame me, have you seen Axel, he looks like a model. He’s build like a statue, with bright blue eyes and when the sun hits his hair it looks like every strand is made of gold.

We would kiss until it was time to go home, but after a while that was not enough and he would sneak into my bedroom window at night. My parents didn’t notice, they hardly paid attention to me anyway. My bedroom was all the way at the back of the house near the forest, so it was easy to sneak in undetected.

Being with Axel was lovely, even though we knew it couldn’t last. Mates were chosen by the Moon Goddess and they would complement each other. I was an Omega, the last child of a family of regular wolves. There was nothing special about me. I could never be a Luna.

Axel didn’t see it like that, he liked me for who I was. But he knew his parents would disapprove and like every member of the pack he feared his father. For Axel the knowledge of how bad his father could be, wasn’t just from hearsay, he knew all too well what happened if you’d disappoint Alpha Alistair. He had the scars to prove it.

I always thought I would safe myself for my mate. My parents didn’t say much to me, but they had told me to "keep it in my pants" until I turned eighteen. At eighteen we would shift for the first time and could find their mate during the full moon. It would be nice to have a wolf I thought, someone to be with me always. I’ve heard it like an extra person in your head, one that doesn’t talk but shares emotions or images.

We’ve been going to the same school since we were kids, but Axel had been away for long periods of time to train. At sixteen I was blown away when I saw him again. I couldn’t even speak when he first greeted me.

We started talking and I did my best to help catch him up on homework. He had been away too often and although the teachers would never admit it, he was far behind in every subject.

They did not want to piss off the Alpha and decided to secretly get a tutor for Axel. We would meet at my house or at the forest, anywhere where there weren’t a lot of people around.

Alpha Alistair demanded perfection and that meant doing well in school regardless of any missed days. After a while I noticed he started looking at me differently, although I could never expect what would happen.

One afternoon, at the clearing in the forest where we would meet, he suddenly became very silent. He looked at me with that strange look in his eyes and quietly asked if he could kiss me. I was so surprised I couldn’t even say yes, instead I just nodded my head while looking down.

He grabbed my chin softly.

"Look at me, Amber. You should never have to hide from me."

He then slowly bend his head towards me and put his lips softly against mine. It felt like the world disappeared for a minute, everything around us was quiet and it was just me and Axel and the taste of his soft lips against mine.

Spending this summer with Axel has made me fall in love, a love where words weren’t enough anymore. Where kisses lead to more. I didn’t regret loosing my virginity to Axel, he was kind and gentle. This was his first time too and we both took the time to get to know each other’s body. I traced every scar on his back with my fingers and kisses each one of them gently.

He looked at me with awe, as if his eyes memorized each and every curve on my caramel body. I think I saw him blush when he looked at my breast and I noticed lust in his eyes when his eyes went even lower.

The first night was special, but once we got the hang of it, we would experiment and learn each others likes and dislikes. Axel treated me like I was a treasure and I tried to repay him by showering him with love. We both missed feeling loved growing up, my parents didn’t care and his parents were too busy to create the perfect Alpha heir to their pack.

I was convinced it was true love. I knew the Moon Goddess made no mistakes,  how could she not chose him for me. I might not be worthy, but I couldn’t deny our connection.

As shocked as I was when he first asked to kiss me, I was in utter disbelief on how our summer romance ended.

Axel suddenly started to ignore me in school and he didn't show up at our usual meeting places. And then out of nowhere he was gone. I asked one of the teachers where Axel was and was told he was sent to a special boarding school to finish out the rest of the school year.

Later that day I I found a note in my locker that said:

"Amber, it was fun while it lasted.

We both knew it wasn’t forever.

You should forget about me.

You could never be my Luna.

A."

First love is usually like that, you can never tell what your future will be.
