FORTY TWO

My eyeballs faintly caught the light that was so blinding and pierced my eyes. While groaning in pain, I forced myself to open my eyes wide and adjust to the bright light that turned out to be coming from the hospital room lights. Kane smiled gently to greet me when finally my eyes were able to fully open and adjust to the bright light from this room.

"Water," I stammered in a hoarse voice.

I felt my throat was so dry I couldn't speak. How long have I been lying unconscious like this? Everyone at Hanah's school must have been panicked when this afternoon's incident took place. But everything was unexpected and I never imagined that I would be hit by an accident like that at Hanah's school.

"Are you feeling hurt?" Kane asked looking worried. I shook my head slowly, gripping one of his hands tightly.

"I'm fine, it was just a minor incident, don't worry too much about it."
