Chapter one : Easter Suprise

Chapter one

mom who did you say is coming for the Easter dinner at grandma "

She smiled at me

"Ohm your uncle Mark. You know its been long since I had seen him. My baby brother. He was just a tiny little thing when I last saw him." Her eyes lit as she recalled his baby form.

" He was so little yet so handsome just like you. dad, like his dad." She swayed to the other side of the room and I managed to catch glimpse of her tear. Briskly she wiped it off and smiled.

" you know..." she swiftly turned to face me, a small smile plastered on her oval face.

" Never mind baby, get me the cane in the garage I want to give it to my mother."

I nodded as I dashed out of the room. An involuntary sigh escaped my lips as I grabbed the cane from the far corner of the room. Its shiny armour was the only thing that could help me determine its position.

" you know Ivy, he was so cute when he was a baby, I bet he now has muscles and girls drooling over him. He was so cute and handsome."

Those words greeted me at the door steps.

" Mom you only met him when he was a baby." I sighed, a small baby laugh escaped from lungs.

" I can bet a hundred bucks he is now old, wrinkled and ugly" she shot me a death glare.

" Well what I do know is that... you two will become friends the moment you meet."

Friends my foot the, moment you will figure out that he is now ...

" Ivy..." the sharpness of my mother's voice from the balcony made me cringe. When had she reached there.

" Baby your..."

What can I do other than listen to my mom bragging about her baby brother? Her ranting was getting the better of me.

. How can she talk like that about a person who she didn't know? She was starting to annoy me and I guess she noticed and stopped talking.

How foolish of me. If only she would notice just maybe she would put a zipper on her lips but no she continued.

Mom and I continued packing as we were going to spend Easter at granny's house. I was a little excited, that just for once ...just this once I would meet mom's siblings.

I knew there were there but never met them. If we want to meet them, mom always had an excuse to give. She was always reluctant to talk about her family, her past but today she was blubbering about this sister of hers or the other.

Suddenly I missed my siblings, they had been gone for three hours and they weren't back. If they were here, they would love this topic. Especially my little sister, she will go crazy.

"why are you grinning like that" I snapped my head to meet my mom's questioning gaze.

I shook my head.

"nothing mom. I was just thinking." I shot her a smile. She nodded.

"mom why didn't we see any of your siblings or even grandma Over the past years." I took a couple of breaths, "or when dead died! I mean disappeared." She stared at me, her lashes lowered, her full lips thinned. She was thinking at least. If anyone had seen her the person would argue that she is pissed. She sighed. Her hazel eyes filled with sorrow and regret.

" things were hard back then." Her lips curl into a smile, that smile that never reached her eyes

That smile that always tear my heart apart.

"Ooh" I didn't want to push her button any further. Father had walked away from us, divorced mom and went where the Almighty knows. I sighed as I recalled those days. Mom had suffered from anxiety attacks and depression. Anyone could have manipulated her into doing whatever. Yet she didn't want us to believe that is what happened. She weaved a fake dump story about father's disappearance yet I knew the whole story. I knew he had divorced. For what? Why? Who will answer these troubling questions of mine other than the woman positioning herself as the statue of Mbuya Nehanda, yet she was not ready to face the truth, to face her own kids.

" Shall we continue mother" my heavy African accent dominating each and every word I say. Every word showed my roots, the roots I am proud of.

" Ohh sure baby"

After a handful of minutes, we were done packing and the two trouble makers bust into the house laughing. I am sure mom had not noticed that they weren't in the house.

"oooh good you two are back. I guess its time to go then. Your granny has been nagging me for years wanting to meet the three of you."

She did? How silly of me. She is our grandmother she is bound to ask for her grandkids.

She looked away from us, trying to hide tears that had already clouded her hazel eyes. That was too late. I had noticed them. were they tears of joy? Tears of sorrow? Or tears of regret? Which one mother? Which one is it.

I wanted to ask her what was wrong, anyways she would tell me when she is ready. I will not pressure her into doing anything.

" you three better behave... Terry --Terry"

My brother was on his phone as always. His life was now like that since dad walked out on us. He talked less, he was.

" I will take that from you."

Mom said snatching the phone from Terry.

" What the hell mom. What was that for."

His forehead formed deep lines, his teeth clutched. Looking at him now he is a duplicate of dad, he had his brown eyes, dirty blond hair that seem never to be washed. A sharp jawline that could cut any fly that passes. I swayed my eyes to mom, she stared at him frozen. She had also noticed. The effect was brief and she had managed to compose herself in a matter of seconds.

"You will not use that language with me young man"

Her voice was sharp, making Lizzy snap out of her day dreaming. She looked at mom who was already panting.

" you..."

A knock at the window stopped mom. There was an old woman there and looking closely she resembled mom. She was a duplicate of mom or mom the duplicate of her. whatever its still confusing.

" we will talk about this later."

" We will not" he growled as he unhooked the seatbelt.

she gave Terry a death glare before she opened the door. slide out of the car gracefully, a smile plastered on her half chopped lips. lips that showed years of sorrow yet coated in a hot red smile that can bring any man to his knees. That any man would want to see every morning yet another hot red blooded one walked away from her. What exactly did she lack. She was exactly every man's dream woman, a curvaceous body, long tanned legs to drool over. Her breast firm, her neck long graced with beautiful pearls. Her wavy hair long and golden to play with during foreplay. What a wonder yet a full grown man walked away? What a world?

She embraced granny and we followed.

"oh me oh my is this Ivy. She has grown into a beautiful woman. "

she smiled at me and I watched mom roll her eyes at what granny had just said.

" you look just like your father dear, tall, tanned, ohhh and those beautiful brown eyes. I.."

"Mom stop this nonsense, Ivy does not look like him. Shall we go inside its freezing out here." her smile never departing on her lips. Yet her posture rigid. Did grandmother know what had happened to mother and father's relationship? Had she done it on purpose?

Granny looked upset and wanted to argue but just let it go. I could see her restraining herself from saying something.

" Come children, I have made something special for you and." we trailed behind rushing into the cosy little home. Mom had spent most of her childhood here. I felt a little smile crept onto my lips. I am here, in this very house. A house that sheltered a great woman yet small. I swayed my eyes, analysing each and every detail of this house.

" granny you sure mom..." my words scattered, my throat went dry. I felt as if energy was being drained from my knees. I felt them shake, giving me a warning. A warning of them giving me up.

Noo a small scream registered in my head.

" Hie"

I froze as I heard his voice, the agedness of his voice, I analysed its structure. Its deepness. How on earth am I going to survive in this house. His dark hair messy and dirty. His blue eyes, those pink lips. My gaze lingered there for a few. He licked his lower lip. He knew I was looking and he was punishing me for that. But that could nor be for her was my uncle and my blood. The gesture was nothing. I shoved that thought into my brain forcing it to process.

" seems like someone is already hungry."

he chuckled. His voice was husky and low, sending shivers down my lean spine. I jerked my head to meet his piercing gaze. Those blue eyes that seem to be undressing me, hell no there where undressing me, rapping me, ravaging me. If only he was not my uncle. Just maybe I would have allowed myself to enjoy whatever this is. I mentally slapped myself for having that poor mind set.

"Lizzy have some manners." mom's voice snapped me back to reality. I stole a glance at Lizzy who had her mouth full with Chocolate cookies. I giggled at the sight. My sister and food. But that statement wasn't meant for her. It was meant for me. He was trying to get a reaction out of me.

"Children this is Mark and where is Lisa."

mom questioned. Her focus was somewhere else, looking, she was looking for someone.

"Here sorry I am late. Oh my God they have grown up. they are so cute."

I threw a glance at the voice. She screamed wealth by her appearance. Her fur coat covering the long skinny legs. Her waist smaller than my mom's.

She swayed her gaze to me. Her eyes questioned, looking for something. Something to comment, something so nasty.

Ooh precious Lord let it not be she is one of the over analysing aunts, I swear if she is hell will not contain the two of us

"Wow." Why had l not seen my mom's siblings, why had she not asked them for help when she was almost bankrupt. The bank is about to take our house for it to get its money and here her family is super rich. I shook my head, something doesn't add up.

"Ooh my God look at you Lisa, you have."

I have had enough of family reunion for once.

With that I managed to slip out of the room.
