The sight

Colin’s POV

Colin sat on the log, holding one of Adina’s hands in his, with his eyes closed. He heard Adina’s breathing change. It became deeper and more relaxed. He felt the tingling that he always felt when he and Adina touched increase. It felt like bubbles travel from Adina’s hand to his.

“Open your eyes,” Adina whispered.

Colin opened his eyes, and he couldn’t believe what he saw. All around him there were thin wisps of what looked like mist. But they glimmered in different colours and moved around, in between and through everything. In places they entangled with each other and shifted colour, becoming thicker or thinner.

Everywhere he looked, he saw them. The trees and the ground had a shimmer to them. He looked at Sean. He drew a sharp breath when he saw Sean’s true form. He looked bigger, prouder, like a warrior, and behind him, like a shadow, there was a big brown wolf. Colin turned to look at Adina, but before he could look at her, she placed a hand over his eyes.

“Not yet,”
