Cold, Dark And Dreary

I could only stare at the necklace and if looks could burn, the jewelry would've turned to ashes.

“Alena,” He called in a warning tone.

I looked up at him, his face had hardened and I could barely see any trace of the man who had spoken to me kindly outside just minutes ago. I knew Aria was a sore topic for him and he probably wasn't fully healed from her or ever would.

It was one of those heartbreaks that you don't allow yourself to heal from, you simply just bury it somewhere deep in your heart and fling the key to it, refusing to allow even yourself to unlock the memories associated with it, saving yourself the pain but in this case, I had brought it up and I had angered him in a way I had no explanation for.

“I’m sorry,” I muttered, I knew I shouldn't have gone through her things but most importantly, I shouldn't have allowed myself to get caught.

“Sorry? I am not asking for your apologies Alena, I am asking why you did it!” He yelled.
