Chapter 28 - Fenriz

Umiko grabs my hand as I get onto my motorcycle and peers up at me with those eyes that get my blood pumping every time.

“Do you have to go?” she asks, even though she knows the answer.

I draw my hand to her cheek and caress it softly. “I’m doing this for us; remember that. No matter what it takes, I will die before I hurt you.” I say, then place a kiss on her forehead. “When I come back, there’s something else I will need to discuss with you, and it concerns your fox.”

She nods, and her bottom lip trembles, but she takes a step back from the motorcycle so that I can go. “I’ll wait for you,” she says with a smile.

I take this last image of her and bury it deep in my heart before speeding away. Fuck knows I’ll need it as an anchor for what I am about to do, for what Baron and I are about to face.
