Purity is missing

Rita took her phone and called Sandy.

"Hello mom, have you found her? I told you, that guy is spoiling her. Does she have bottles of alcohol? You should just come with the drinks because she was gifted," Sandy said.

"Do you drink?" Rita asked startling her.

Sandy had managed to hide from her mom about her drinking habits and always found a way of blaming Rita for any alcohol smell in the house.

Her dad caught her on different occasions when he came back early from work but her mom never did.

"Of course not mom, why could you think of something like that? Remember the other day, dad's visitors drank it. I was just thinking in that line nothing else," she lied.

"Ok, the bar she supposedly went to, was attacked, switch on the television and see if  the hospital where the injured have been taken will be mentioned, I'm on my way," Rita instructed.

"I'm doing it right away," she responded, hunged up and rushed to the living room to watch the television as Mr. Wilson entered the house.

"Good evening dad," she greeted him.

"Good evening, where is Purity?" He asked.

"I don't know, she left earlier and she isn't back yet," she answered.

      "Your mom?"

"I have just talked to her on the phone and she is on the way,"

Wilson walked past her and took the stairs. She sighed in relief.

Vanessa finished cleaning her wounds then turned to face Denzel who was sitted in the room watching her.

"Sir, does she have a change of clothes?" Vanessa asked.

"You want to change her cloths?"

       "Yes sir,"

Denzel left the room and came back with his pajamas and handed it to her.

"Use that, I'm outside, call me once you are done," he told her and left.

Vanessa had so many unanswered questions but didn't have the courage to ask with fear of annoying him.

"Who is the girl? What is the relationship with Denzel?" She thought.

Before, she used to think she had a chance with Denzel as she had never seen him with any girl but seeing this beautiful figure, she had started having second thoughts.

She changed her clothes, packed her things and left the room. As he had said, he was there resting his back on the wall.

"Sir, I'm done," she informed him.

"Will she be okay?" He questioned concern evident in his voice.

"This should be a nightmare that I need to wake up from," she thought to herself.

"Yes sir and by tomorrow she will be awake. I will also come back tomorrow to check on her, and I will bring with me an ointment to use on her face. So that she won't have a scar, the scars will disappear in no time,"

"Okay," he walked into the room and left her there.

He sat next to her on the bed, staring at her innocent, pale and beautiful face.

As she headed to her car, she called Daniel who picked on the second ring.

"Vane, have reached the house?" Dan asked.

"Yes and I'm also on my way out. Who is that girl?"

"Girl? Which girl?" Daniel asked confused.

"When you asked me to come here with my things who was I coming to treat?" She asked back.

"I don't know, he didn't say. What is the problem with the girl?"

"She is hurt but I don't know how she got hurt, I couldn't ask,"

"Let me try and believe you, I have something I'm doing, let's talk later," Daniel hanged up.

Sitting down to watch the television it was already late and the hospital had already been mentioned.

"Do you have the name of the hospital?" Rita asked walking into the living room.

"They haven't mentioned," she told her.

"What is it with the hospital?" Wilson asked walking downstairs.

"Good evening honey, how was your day?" Rita asked.

"My day was fine, where is Purity?"

"That reminds me, you are the one encouraging her nonsense. The last drinks she came with you gave it to your guests?" Rita asked and Wilson was shocked.

"I give those cheap drinks to my guests?" He asked back.

Isn't that what Sandy told her? Her husband can never lie to her, but Sandy has never lied to her? Who was telling the truth, who was she going to believe? The more she thought about it, the more confused she got.

"Where is Purity?" He asked again.

"I don't know, I'm just coming in," Rita replied.

She wasn't lying, she wasn't sure if Purity was in the bar when the attack happened or she had left with her so called boyfriend.

One thing she was sure about was the fact that Purity will come back and meet her in the house.

"Where did she say she was going?" He asked Sandy.

"She didn't tell me, she talked to someone on the phone then she left," Sandy answered but he wasn't convinced.

He took his phone and called her.

"She left her phone here," Sandy told him and he returned the phone in the pocket.

"Why are you looking for her so urgently? We all know she will come back," Rita asked.

"They are reading mom's will tomorrow and she must be there," he informed them.

"Why? We all know she left her hospital to Greg's family like your dad handed the company to Greg's family as well,"

"We will find out tomorrow but she must be there,"

Rita sat on the couch deep in thought. She knew the old lady loved Purity so much even when discriminated her due to her poor health.

She used to love her daughter and was willing to walk with her every step of the way till she recovers but everything changed when Purity was five years.

The old man was so sick and everyone including himself thought he was going to die and she called a family meeting.

Despite her poor health, they were a happy young family.

Flashback...

"I'm giving seventy percent of the company to Greg and his family," the old man announced breaking the silence that had reigned for a while as he said his words.

"Why dad, I'm the eldest," Wilson asked.

"Your daughter is always sick and most of your time you spend taking care of her. All my life, I have used to build this company, I think it will collapse under your care," she felt her heart sink.

Her husband was dedicated in the family company more than Greg yet he was the one given the biggest share because of Purity.

"How are you even sure, she will reach twenty? If you ask me, you should start looking for a second child," Greg added.

He had been married for four years abd already had two boys unlike her who had one daughter after six years in marriage.

Those words pierced her.

End of flashback.

Every time she remembered what happened that night, her heart breaks making her hate her own daughter.

But that was not the end of it, after so much pressure, her husband married a second wife because she could not concieve again.

Now today, the same Purity is needed at the will reading? What for? Could it be that they want to humiliate them again?

Waking up on the hospital bed, the first thought in Andrew's mind was Purity, where was she? Is she safe? Was he hurt? Did someone rescue her?

He had all this questions making her head spin. Yesterday, he saw her rushing towards him but she got lost in the crowd and he got hurt trying to find her.

He was so engrossed in his worries that he didn't notice the doctor entering his ward.

"How are you feeling?" the doctor asked.

"I'm fine, doctor can ask you a question?"

        "Sure no problem,"

"My sister, was she brought here?"

"So many people were brought here and I can't say who among them is your sister," the doctor responded.

"I don't feel any pain, can you please allow me see all the females who were brought just to make sure she is safe please. Her name is Purity," he pleaded.

"The police are out there waiting to take your statement," the doctor told him and his face fell.

"Ok doctor, after the police are gone can you please allow me?"

"You need to recover," the doctor said.

"Doctor you have people you care about? She is one of the people I care about and I won't be settled not knowing how she is doing. Please doctor allow me, I need to find her," he begged.

"Sure no problem, a nurse will help you," the doctor accepted and he felt relieved.

"Thank you so much doctor," he appreciated whole heartedly.

"You are welcomed, the police are coming in now,"

Andrew nodded and the doctor walked out with two policemen walking in almost immediately.

"Good morning, how are you feeling today?" One of the men asked.

        "I'm fine sir, thank you,"

"We are from the investigation team and we have few questions for you. What happened yesterday?"

"It was a normal night like all other nights. I was serving drinks at the back of the bar when I heard a commotion at the front more of an argument and a fight followed by a gun shot. The front door was locked and everyone was running through the back door so I followed suit but the crowd pushed me," he explained.

"Before the argument did you see anything different or any strange face?"

"Many people walk in and walk out of the bar, I can't know who has a bad motive and who doesn't,"

"Your manager, do you know if he is involved in anything?"

       "No sir,"

"That is all for now, we will come back if we have any more questions, quick recovery and thank you for your time,"

They walked out and he was anticipating for the nurse to come and help him out. Finally the long wait was over when the nurse walked in and he sighed with relief.

The nurse helped him out of the bed and walked with him to all the female wards but Purity was not in.

"These are all the ladies that were brought yesterday," the nurse informed him.

His heart raced, his head spinned, his mouth went dry.
