Drift Apart:- Scared of Attachment

Austin's hair passed through my fingers seamlessly, beautifully. His eyes were closed, his breaths even.

"How is it so easy for you to sleep? " I chuckled to myself, adjusting my sitting position so he can be more comfortable. I never imagined him being here on my lap, sleeping. Or talking to me about his mother.

I know the luna wasn't around, but for some reason, it never crossed my mind to think that she would have died that way.

"I am so sorry," I found myself saying.

"For what?"

I looked down. His eyes were still closed.

"Are you not asleep?"

"I woke up moments ago, Hazel."

I loved the way he called my name.

"Then why were you pretending to sleep?"

He shrugged and stood up, his hair falling on both sides of his face. He watched me through his lashes, and licked his lips before he spoke.

"I thought if I do so, you would want to open up and talk about you."

I was supposed to feel my heart speeding up, or the jitters...weirdly I felt calm. I felt like I was falling.. But this time a

Hey there. Harmeen here. So I particularly wrote this chapter to be slow burn and pave the way for my characters to actually bond.
