Nine

ZARA

After Luciano had dropped me off, I thanked him as he drove away, he is such a fine young man, he’s very nice and I bet any woman that would be his mate would be extremely lucky.

I walked into the building before me, I didn’t know where to go, I was really confused and Luciano couldn’t help me because he had to run. He had to run for work, but he had given me money in other to get food at the Caffe close by, and he also said he’ll pick me up by midnight, like I said, he’s such a nice man.

“Excuse me, madam, may I help you?” A lady asked, I turned around to find a slender lady staring at me, she wasn’t smiling.

“I’m here to see Mr. Jefferson,” I said to her, I felt a bit timid standing before her, she looked very perfect. She was slim but her curves were very visible.

“Mr. Jefferson isn’t here, you can speak to me.” She said, I read the name engrossed on the badge that her chest and it spelled Willow.

“Willow?” I asked, she suddenly had a smile on her face.

“Yes, my name is Willow.” She said. “Come with me, we can speak in my office.” She added, I nodded and strolled behind her, she led me to her office and made me sit.

“So, what are you exactly here for?” She asked, she was still having a smile on her face.

“I need a job!” I said, she took in a very deep breath.

“I’m sorry, but they are no slots available till next month, can I have your credentials? I’ll go through them in the meantime.” She said, I shook my head no as she spoke, I had no credentials.

“I didn’t go to college, I didn’t go to school,” I said, she raised a brow and then nodded.

“Okay, my company only offers jobs to educated individuals.” She said, I nodded, I know there isn’t possibly going to be a way I was going to get a job.

“Okay, Thanks for your time.”

I said to her, she nodded with a calm smile, and she stared at me with so much pity in her eyes. I got up calmly and made my way out, I didn’t get a job and I’m certain Ezra will not be happy about this at all. I walked out of the building and began heading towards the cafe Luciano said I should wait for him. When I got there, many eyes stared down at me, I looked away from them and took a sit which was way back, away from their sights.

I sat there, images of my life played before my eyes, I felt a bit of sadness wash over me, I couldn't believe I had lost

my peaceful life as Alpha Helen’s maid for this hell of life which is filled with sadness and problem. Tears suddenly began to fall from my eyes, I couldn’t believe how my life had turned, it was so sad to see me suffer like this.

“Beautiful women don’t cry!” I heard a voice say to me. I looked up to find him staring at me with a smile on his face. He looked very dashing, he was so handsome.

“May I sit with you?” He asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. I sniffed and wiped my eyes, he sat down anyways without my permission.

“Why are you crying Beauty?” He asked, his words pissed me off a bit. I knew I wasn’t beautiful, so his words felt like lies. They were lies, I’m ugly.

“My name isn’t Beauty!” I snapped at him, and he chuckled.

“Okay, what’s your name then?” He asked, I didn’t respond to him, maybe if I ignore him he’ll leave.

He kept staring at me intently, despite me trying to ignore him. “It’s Zara, now leave me alone,” I said, he chuckled.

“Zara! Radiance, your name is beautiful, just like you.” He said. He turned around as soon as he spotted a waiter walking over to us, he whistled and the waiter ambulated towards us with a tray of food. He kept it on the table, and the handsome young man thanked him before he walked away.

“Care to join me, Beauty?” He asked, I shot him a very deadly glare, and he smiled.

“I mean Zara,” He corrected himself.

“Thanks for your offer, I’ll order mine,” I said.

“No Beauty, I won’t let you order yours when I’m here.” He said, I couldn’t help but bust into laughter at his persistence and his facial expression.

“It’s Zara! Z.A.R.A” I said firmly, and he chuckled.

“I love calling you Beauty, Now eat up, you look like you’ve had nothing to eat.” He said, from the way he spoke, it made me feel as though he knew me from somewhere else.

“Do you know me?” I asked and he busted into laughter.

“Nope, but I know what you are.” He said, I began choking on my spit.

“You’re beautiful!” He said, I took in a very deep breath and let out a chuckle.

“You look more beautiful when you laugh, now eat!” He said, he smiled genuinely, and the food before me did look good. I reached for the plate before me, and his smile grew. He grabbed a drink before him and drank from it.

“Thank you!” I said to him, he smiled with a nod. I ate slowly from the plate. We ate in peace for five minutes, he kept glancing at me but I didn’t act as if I was disturbed, which I was.

“What is your name?” I asked, he chewed on the chicken lap in his right arm.

“Xa…” He swallowed. “My name is Xavier Moon!” He said and I began to choke for real.

“Xavier Moon? You’re a werewolf? The King of the Malani Rouge Empire?” I asked and he chuckled.

“Yes, Queen Zara!” He bowed his head calmly.
