LOGINDrecos POV
"Mr. Marcelo" the doctor approached with two envelopes in his hands. "Miss Audrey is alright, she just had a bit of a concussion earlier. Apart from that there isn't any major issue" I acknowledged his words with a nod, keeping my eyes trained on the angel-like figure on the bed. A broken angel. Tearing my gaze off her, I made a scan of the papers. The first was a medical report, which showed records of minor injuries Audrey had sustained, including some malnutrition issues. The second report however, had me pausing. As I scanned the details, I felt my lips tug up. Interesting. The slight movement from the bed had me snapping my head up as my gaze locked with the deepest blues I had ever seen. There was a sheen of moisture in them which stirred something deep in me. She stared at me for what seemed like an eternity. I waited. Until the fog started to clear from her eyes and in its place recognition took hold. Then fear. It was expected, normal even, to be on the receiving end of this sort of reaction. I didn't gain a reputation as the most notorious personality in the country for nothing. But right now, I didn't need her fear. If she was going to be a valuable asset in my plans, I needed her to trust me. "W-why am I here?" "You got into an accident. Have you forgotten?" The sudden change in her mood answered my question. "Michael tried to kill me" It wasn't a question, it was a statement. Laced with such venom I never expected to hear from such a delicate looking girl. "Yes" I might as well let her anger grow. It would reduce my work later on. Her grip on the sheets tightened until her knuckles turned white. A strange urge to cover those pale hands with my much larger ones came from nowhere. Get a grip man! My main goal now was to get this woman to work for me. A message popped in my phone, It is ready, sir. I smiled at the efficiency of my captain. Now I just had to do the rest. "Do you hate him?" I asked, watching her stiffen as I settled beside her. "As much as I loved him" her voice was barely a whisper. "Then how does revenge sound?" Her eyes widened in disbelief. It was indeed hard for anyone to believe. After all, "You are his uncle" she continued, "Why would you want to harm him?" Ahh.... Such a naive little thing. "Sometimes, your greatest enemies could be those around you" A flicker of understanding passed in her eyes but I knew she didn't understand. For me it wasn't just those around me, it was the scumbag who brought me into this world. My father. "What did Michael do to you?" She asked. Was that concern in her voice? For that bastard? "Why? Are you worried about him?" Her scowl gave me my answer. "No!" A pause. "I-I just..." Color rushed to her cheeks before she averted her eyes. Patience had never been my forte might as well go on. "I don't have any grudge against Michael. It's the Marcelo family I'm after." The fear I had seen earlier returned, "your whole family..." Sigh~ "The Marcelo family owes me a debt." "I only hate Michael, I don't want to involve innocent people" her voice held a hint of righteousness and I couldn't help but chuckle. "Innocent?" "Sweetheart~ not a single one of that bunch is innocent. Trust me." "You have no idea just how twisted that family is. The blood on their hands." Mine boiled as I remembered a figure hanging lifeless from a noose. "That includes you?" she was looking at me directly now. "I am no saint either. But only a monster can destroy another monster." It was time. "Are you willing to take this monster's hand?" I watched her every move. The twitch of her fingers and her eyes that darted between my hand and hers. Just when I thought she was going to refuse, her palm soft and delicate reached out to mine sending a tingling through me. "Yes" There was no going back now. "Then marry me"Drecos’s POVOur heads were so close that the rest of the world faded away leaving just her in my universe. Every instinct I possessed, the cold, calculating part of me that had kept me alive for all these years was screaming at me to withdraw. Don't do this. Don't let her in. But I couldn't move back. There was a magnetic pull, a raw, invisible force, pulling me towards Audrey. My gaze dropped to her lips, and for the first time in my life, I was not in control.Just as our lips were about to lock, a sharp rhythmic knock shattered the silence. The spell broke. We froze, then jumped apart with lightning speed, the electric heat between us vanishing in an instant. I felt a surge of pure unmistakable fury come over me.“Dammit”, I muttered under my breath, my heart still hammering against my ribs. I turned toward the door. “Hold on,” I barked.I stepped out to meet my head of security, holding my phone. He looked hesitant, but he stood his ground. “Boss, your phone. It has been ring
Audrey’s POVI didn't think I just acted. I quickly sprang up and moved my body off the bed.“Audrey? What are you?…”I let out a sharp, choked gasp as I let my legs give way. I collapsed forward, my hands hitting the floor with a loud thud. “Oh! My head…”“Oh my God, Audrey!” Eleanor let out, dropping the bag instantly to rush to my side. She grabbed my shoulders, her face full of panic and concern. “Your body is not ready to be up! You’re still so weak!”As she stood over me, helping me back toward the bed, I used the chaos. My foot hooked around the strap of the bag on the floor. With one swift, silent kick, I sent it sliding deep under the shadows of the bed frame.“I'm sorry,” I whispered, leaning into her as she sat me back down. I looked up at her with watery, grateful eyes. “I just... I wanted to tell you how sweet you've been to me. Especially at the party. The way you defended me against Alana... I don’t know what I would have done without you.”Eleanor’s expression softened
Drecos’s POVThe air in the hospital corridor was thick, but it was nothing compared to the tension inside the room. The moment I heard the words come out of Audrey’s mouth the words hit me like a physical blow.I took a step closer to Audrey’s bed as I stood in between the doctor and Audrey. My blood runs cold. Secrets are dangerous in my world; they are shadows where the enemies hide. I watched as the doctor excused himself, his eyes fixed on mine as he quickly looked away seconds before he hurried out. I didn't like the way he avoided my gaze.I walked towards Audrey’s bed. “What secret Audrey?” I asked with a low voice demanding the truth. “What were you two discussing that I’m not allowed to know?”She looked at me, and for a moment the world seemed to stop. Her eyes held pain and unshed tears. She looked so fragile, her face was pale except for the faint flush on her cheeks. There wasn't any hint of deception in her expression, only a haunting vulnerability that made my chest ac
Drecos’s POV My gun stayed pointed at her forehead as she kept blabbering. I wanted to see the light leave her eyes. I wanted to hear her beg for her life. But as she made to speak again the room exploded. Bang. The girls head snapped back, then she slumped to the ground. I turned around, my gun still in the air, my heart was pounding with hot pure rage. Eleanor stood there, her face looking pale her pistol still smoking. “What the hell did you just do?” I shouted. My mind was going crazy. Even if I wanted her dead I also wanted to hear what she had to say, I wanted to be the one to pull the trigger. “Why did you shoot her? I wanted her to die by my hands.” Eleanor looked at the body, then at me, her eyes teary up. “I’m sorry, Drecos. I just… I didn't know what came over me I had to do it I hand a feeling she was going to lie to you, and it made me so angry. Seeing her sit there after what she did to Audrey... I just couldn't take it. I got carried away with rage. I know you w
Alana’s POVI lay still on the armchair at the spa, my face covered in a facial mask, when my phone buzzed. I reached for my phone immediately and I saw Eleanor’s name. I quickly answered the call. His voice was sharp and filled with panic which made me sit upright.“We have to meet now,” she said.“Velvet Cellar. One hour,” I replied, waving away the aesthetician. I didn't care about the treatment anymore; if Eleanor was calling like this, the world was on fire.******************************An hour later, I stepped into the dim, private booth at the Velvet Cellar. Eleanor was already there, picking at her nails. Her face was a picture of disappointment.“She’s alive,” Eleanor said without saying hello. “After you called I went to the hospital to see things for myself, but she’s going to make it. She’ll be discharged in a few days.”I felt a wave of cold fury. “So we failed? All that risk for nothing?”“It's actually worse,” Eleanor whispered, leaning over the table. “Drecos is on
Drecos’s POVI strolled back towards Audrey’s room, my shoes tapping gently against the hospital floor. My thoughts were spiraling. I couldn't quite process the news, unable to understand the reason why anyone would want my Audrey dead. I was inches away from the door when I stopped on my track. I saw Eleanor through the small glass window. She was sitting by Audrey’s bed side. From the way she looked at Audrey, it didn't seem she was worried about her. She was looking intensely and that bothered me a little. Her eyes were scanning her from her head to her toes looking at her as if she was angry at her for something I couldn't quite wrap my head around.I was about to push the door open when a nurse approached with a clipboard. I quickly stepped in front of her, stopping her before she could enter.“Is she strong enough to go home now?” I asked my mind racing. I didn't want Audrey in this public space anymore. I wanted her in a place where I could control every person who had access
Alana’s POVI kept quiet for a moment, giving her time actually to think about it before I continued. “We have a common enemy, I think we should team up and eliminate our common threat by all means necessary.”“You’re joking right? What makes you think I would betray the Vacinelo name for a mercelo
Audrey’s POVI quickly ran out of the room and ran towards the nurses’ station. The smell of the hospital no longer had the smell of drugs or antiseptic; it felt like I was walking in the graveyard.I hadn’t ran for long but it felt like I was running through quicksand as I ran to the nurses statio
