Chapter 13

As Oprah returned to the apartment, she noticed it was already past seven in the evening.

Feeling tired and hungry, she wasn't up for cooking. Instead, she ate a few cookies absentmindedly and soon fell asleep on the bed.

That night, her dreams were a tangled mess.

One moment she witnessed the past argument between her father and Roxanne, and the next moment she was chasing after her father, desperately pleading with him not to abandon her and her mother. Finally, Burgess appeared before her, wearing a condescending expression, and coldly uttered, "Oprah, I've been fooling you all this time!"

Startled awake, Oprah gasped for breath and felt annoyed. She muttered, "That despicable Burgess is still haunting me!"

After a while, she heard her phone ringing on the bedside table. Despite having slept for more than ten hours, Oprah still had a pounding headache and felt groggy. She lazily picked up her phone, only to find that the caller had already hung up.
