AVA

Dumfounded, I blinked at the woman in the mirror; she blinked back at me.

My jaw slackened. "Ella?"

"Yes, miss?" Ella leaned closer with an expectant smile, her hands on my shoulder.

"W-what did you do to me?"

The smile fell off immediately. "You don't like it?"

"How can you say that I don't—"A disbelieving gasp erupted from my throat.

How do I explain to the girl staring down at me with innocent worry that I had no words to describe how I felt?

I looked at the woman in the mirror once more. Then really looked at her again.

Was this really me?

After the unconscious display of my powers, I somehow—don't ask me how, I do not know—ended up telling Arabella about the encounter I had with Alpha Draven in the woods back at home. It was either that, or I explained why I was able to shut the door without using my hands. Or any part of my body for that matter, which I didn't think I was comfortable with, yet.

It was one thing to like her, and another to trust her. Trust was a bridge I don

Thorne bit down on his lips, trying to contain the laughter that was threatening to burst out of him.“Don’t. You. Dare.”He wheezed, “Me? I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Finally getting a hold of himself, he cleared his throat. “At least, we have an extra trait in similarity to the one in the books.”Closing his eyes slowly in frustration, he curled and uncurled his fist. When they reopened, they settled on the terrified guard.“She’s about to burn down my pack, and none of my men seems to be capable of reining her in? A woman who is half your size?”“She’s a guest of the alpha.” His eyes widened in panic. The innocent man felt caught in between, at his alpha’s obvious question. “We thought… we thought… we couldn’t—”“Get out. I’ll be down in a minute, and the packhouse better be in one piece.”Without wasting another second, he scrambled out, and immediately the door closed. Kael narrowed his eyes on Thorne,“You! Leave now.”“Why? I want to watch the show too.” Thorne po

“So… you look good. Like you’ve just been punched in the guts but were not given a chance to retaliate in a good kind of way."Those were the first words that met Kael the moment he pulled the door to his office open. He eyed the man with a goofy expression, chewing loudly on the sofa, like his office was the dining room. Then slammed the door shut as he walked in.“You heard.”“Oouu, I didn’t just hear. I watched it allll... happen.”He rolled his eyes. Typical Thorne. He must’ve been so caught up in controlling his rage he didn’t hear his second in command approach the room.“It’s nice to finally have someone to butt heads with, don’t you think?” Thorne teased, the crumbles of whatever he was eating spilling out of his mouth. “I mean, no offense, but you seem to be stuck in your head.”Kael scoffed under his breath, “I am not stuck in my head. It’s just how—…you are. Yes, you’ve said it a hundred times, but you keep forgetting you were never like that from the start.” The Beta said

The explosion threw Ava against the wall, a painful groan escaping her lips as her eyes snapped open to see one of the guards running in with a panic-stricken face.“We need to get out of here now.” “No!” she yelled over the noise, “Ralia is in there.”“Your pack is under attack. We need to get you to safety.”Her face contorted in cold dread. Safety? She was as safe in this turmoil as she had been with them, yet he wanted her to leave Ralia behind for that?“Don’t lie to me.” She hissed, yet her words went unheard. All her pleas fell on deaf ears as the rest of the men found her, forming a protective circle as they led her out of the pack. She could barely see past their huge mass, but the roars and screams of horror had her heart pounding violently. They paused as it stilled for a minute, and just when they thought it had died down, tens of wolves stormed in through the now exposed main entrance.“It’s a rogue attack!” someone yelled.Several wolves began to shift. It felt like on

AVAAfter receiving a look of warning from Ralia, we both headed to the next floor."I should be running away from here," I whispered as we climbed the stairs. "The men that brought me back- the alphas' office is the first place that'll come to their minds when they don't see anyone in your office.""You said you wanted the truth." Was the only reply she gave."And it lies in the upper quarters?"A sigh escaped her lips as we reached. "Before you found me, I was summoned."My feet screeched to an abrupt stop. "Wait, we're headed to their office? The one place I just said I mustn't be seen in.""You won't be going in, Ava. Just stay two doors away and you'll be fine.""What about you?"Ralia's lips pulled into a tight smile. " It can't be avoided. They called me in later than I expected, but they're pissed I let you get caught by Alpha Draven. Aside from a few scratches and torture, they can't do much. You'll know when to leave, and when you do, be swift and smart about it."I wanted t

  • A Bond Of Fire And Fang    Defiance

AVAI was torn.My mind was spinning with a thousand questions as I was led out of the North Central, still reeling from the scene in the dungeon. How could a few words reduce him to a shadow of himself? A whirlwind of emotions, many of them not my own, coursed through me, but the one I was most familiar with stood out. Pain. Just when I thought I had heard all there was to him, I realised I knew nothing at all. I kept wondering why a man like him would feel such emotion. One thing was certain: Alpha Draven was different, We didn’t leave the same way we had come in. A day would never be enough for me to familiarise myself with the labyrinth this pack was, but there was no way I could forget the two enormous wolf statues I’d seen on my way in, even if I was sleepy.Used to looking out the window and seeing crystal white snow almost all year, one would think the change in scenery and lush green landscape would excite me, but it didn’t.“Send her home.”Those deep, lifeless words r

Loyalty is a blade—it either protects or betrays.BACK IN BLOODMOONDax looked up with a grunt as his office door slammed. His wolf flashed to the surface for a second, annoyed at the intrusion until he recognised the men he had ordered a while ago. Giving them a subtle nod, they threw the female in their hand to the ground before turning to exit the room.He didn’t say a word, his breath coming out in harsh pants, a reminder of the anger that remained from the heated argument he’d just had with his brother.Damon knew their goal. He knew what was at stake. He knew of the things their father had gone through and why they couldn’t abandon this mission, yet he acted as if it meant nothing. He didn’t understand why.He was already pissed from Alpha Draven’s intervention. Now, Ava was no longer in their custody. What if he gets a whiff of who she is?Releasing a frustrated groan, he spun around, heading over to the she-wolf staring at him with a betrayed expression.“Why did you do it?”S
