◈WILLIAM WOOLLETT JR. AQUATICS◈

Coach Harry clapped as the swimmers climbed out of the pool, water dripping and muscles tight with tension, calling out, “Forty-eight point seven, Alex, good job. Forty-six point nine, Marco, excellent.” The words carried over the splash of retreating water and the shuffle of bare feet on the tiles.

Swimmers hustled past, grabbing towels, shaking hair, laughing or groaning at their times, leaving only the tense murmur of exhaustion and pride.

“Connor,” Coach Harry called, voice firm but disturbed by the timing, “come here a second.” Connor, still catching his breath, jogged over, sweat slick on his skin and goggles hanging around his neck.

I leaned against the edge of the pool, towel over my shoulders, and smirked as Marco approached, dripping water glinting under the harsh gym lights. “You’re getting faster,” he said, voice low, eyes tracking me with something more than admiration.

I scoffed, shaking my head and twisting my towel. “Coming from the guy who smoked me by two seconds? Really?” My tone was playful, but I felt my chest tighten slightly.

He smiled, leaning casually on the railing, water sliding from his shoulders. “You’re stubborn, but I like it. Keep it up. Second place isn’t bad.”

“I’ll take it as a compliment,” I said, moving toward the lockers.

He laughed, falling into stride beside me, leaning back slightly with his arms crossed. “I mean it. You’ve got style, technique, the whole package. I’d say it’s unfair to the rest of us.”

“Unfair, huh?” I muttered, trying not to smile.

His grin widened. “Second isn’t bad, you know. And honestly, it’s better competition when someone actually pushes me.”

I rolled my eyes and scoffed, letting a small smirk slip anyway.

“So, you sticking around after practice or heading out?”

“Got a few things to handle,” I said, shrugging. “Mom had me running late this morning anyway, so I’m behind schedule.”

He nodded, stepping a little closer. “Maybe next time you can skip the family distractions. You’d be unstoppable in the pool if you were always on time to practice.”

I laughed softly, shaking my head. “Family comes first. Even if it slows me down, I can survive. And make sure you flush that thought that I can’t beat you.”

Marco’s gaze lingered a moment longer than usual. I blinked, swallowed, and forced the words out. “Excuse me… I need to use the restroom.” I backed toward the door, trying to look calm, though my chest was racing.

Marco followed, careful but deliberate, his eyes flicking around the hallway before settling back on me. He matched my pace, calm and measured, like he wasn’t about to let me out of sight. As I ducked toward the restroom and swung the door open, Marco quickened his pace and slipped through the doorway with me before I could fully step inside.

His hand came up, soft but firm, pressing gently over my mouth, and I froze, caught between surprise and a rush of adrenaline. His eyes locked with mine, dark and unyielding, as the sound of someone finishing at a urinal in the next stall echoed. He waited, listening until the footsteps faded and the door clicked shut, then slowly pulled his hand away and shifted his attention back to me.

“I’m sorry,” Marco whispered, his voice trembling slightly, “I cannot hold it anymore.” His other hand brushed against mine, fingers curling around them as his gaze swept my body slowly before snapping back to my eyes.

“Alex… I’ve been holding it in, trying to stay steady, but I can’t anymore.” He took a step closer, and I stumbled back almost without realizing it.

I swallowed, gripping the edge of the counter, heart hammering. He ran a hand down his face, shaking his head slightly. “I know we’re supposed to focus on the championship, and maybe I shouldn’t… but I’ve been showing you. Every damn light…”

His fingers twitched at his sides, a subtle tremor I couldn’t ignore. "... and you never noticed.”

He took another step, closing the distance between us, the space impossibly small, every shallow breath between us loud, his eyes softening, almost desperate. “I love you, Alex.”

✦APRIL 10, 2022✦◈ALEX POV◈“I’m so sorry for being late,” I said to Chloe as she stood in front of the Harrington estate, waiting, while I stepped out of my Lamborghini Aventador, the engine humming softly behind me and one hand lingering behind me as I moved toward her.She stopped me cold, and even as I smiled at her, she turned slightly away, a flicker of anger crossing her flawless face.“You look even more beautiful when you’re angry,” I murmured.A faint, reluctant smile tugged at her lips.“Just smile, Chloe,” I continued, my voice low, my eyes tracing her curves. “It suits this divine...”“Stop that,” she cut me off, lifting her hand to push my chin aside. “You’re staring like you’d take me… even if I offered myself.”“A-at this point...” I stammered.“Oh please,” she snapped, heat rising in her voice. “We’ve known each other for ten years. I’ve put myself on the line for you more times than I can count, and you’ve always turned me down, not to mention how every other woman

✦DAYS LATER✦◈THAT EVENING◈ “Take me outside,” Tobi pleaded softly, making Alex and Jason exchange a quick glance before their eyes moved to the nurse and the doctor, who met their gaze as well. Alex gave the doctor a small nod, a quiet request that said just once. The doctor looked back at Tobi and stepped closer to the bed. “You’re awake. Alright. We will take you outside.”Alex turned back to Tobi, relief and worry tightening in his chest as he finally saw how pale Tobi had become, and a faint smile touched Tobi’s lips as his eyes moved between them.“Bring a wheelchair,” the doctor said quietly, and the nurse nodded and left the room while Jason stepped closer to the bed and Alex remained beside Tobi, watching him carefully as the silence stretched. After a short while the door opened and the nurse returned, guiding the wheelchair inside.“We will help you up slowly,” Alex said, and Tobi gave a faint nod and tried to shift as Jason lowered the side rail. Alex slid an arm behind h

◈HOURS LATER◈ “Sill here?!” Alex exclaimed, resting casually against the doorway with his arms crossed as he watched Tobi fold the sheets in the laundry room.“You have to get going,” he added, making Tobi glance at him as Alex laughed softly, licking his lips briefly. “Don’t worry, I’ll continue from where you stopped.”Tobi hesitated, fingers pausing mid-fold. “And?”“And?” Alex repeated with a scoff, stepping closer. “I know you need this money, but not at the expense of your health. Until you’re well, I order you not to come over. That doesn’t affect your pay anyways, so don’t be troubled.“I… I really appreciate your kindness, Alex,” Tobi said gently as Alex took the T-shirt from his hands.“I’m so sorry I can’t give you what you asked,” Tobi said softly. “Not because I don’t care, but because I won’t be here long enough to give you the love you deserve.”“What do you mean, Tobi?” Alex asked, interrupting, his fingers brushing the T-shirt before letting it fall onto the bed. He

Jason leaned forward until his forehead rested gently against Tobi’s, his breath spilling warm and uneven between them. Their mouths collided with a hunger that deepened with every passing second, Jason’s hand trailing lower, pulling a sharp gasp from Tobi’s lips, swallowed into Jason’s mouth.Tobi’s breath caught as Jason withdrew just enough for their gazes to meet again, a silent question flickering in his eyes. Tobi nodded softly, still panting, and Jason lowered himself, lips tracing down over Tobi’s length, worshipping every inch, making Tobi shudder with a breathy moan, watching as Jason’s tongue circled his reddened tip.Tobi gripped Jason’s head, fingers weaving into his hair, his mouth open as shaky breaths poured out under the overwhelming pleasure. Jason lifted his head, a thin strand of saliva clinging from his lips to Tobi’s throbbing tip slick with pre-cum, and looked up at Tobi, who was gasping for breath, chest rising and falling rapidly, as he crawled upward, pressi

Jason froze for a heartbeat, horror slowly spreading across his face.“What?” His voice came out jagged with disbelief. “No. That’s not possible.”“It is.” Tobi tried to smile, but it collapsed into a trembling line while Jason’s hands flew into his hair, pulling at it like he could tear himself out of a nightmare.“I’ve known for a while,” Tobi continued quietly. “The doctors said… there isn’t much time.”“And you kept this from me?” Jason snapped, his hands twisted together as he shut his eyes, lips pressing tight before he blinked them open and turned away.“Tobi, I’m your friend. Your best friend, for heaven’s sake...”“I didn’t want you to see me differently,” Tobi cut in, tears filling his eyes as they met Jason’s glassy stare. “Not like this. I just wanted to live like nothing was wrong… even if it was only for a little while.”“Tobi, what is wrong with you?” Jason said, anger breaking apart into grief as he stepped forward until they were standing face to face, both of them te

◈LATER IN THE EVENING◈George, Jason’s father, parked his mid-range sedan neatly in front of my house. Jason immediately opened the car door, ready to jump out.“Son,” George called, stopping him. “Not even a goodbye?”Jason sank back into the seat, turning toward him. “I would have said it once I got down.”George chuckled softly. “Take care of yourself, son. Your mother will come pick you up if you’d like.”Jason laughed faintly. “I’ll be fine.”“And be easy on Tobi. Don’t go giving him a headache,” George teased.Jason smirked. “I’m a cool guy, and you know it.”George chuckled. “Oh, we know,” he said, his tone teasing. Then his expression softened, and his voice dropped slightly. “I’m just waiting for the day you finally bring home your boyfriend.”Jason’s eyes widened slightly.“Or… is he the one?” George added, glancing toward me.Jason’s mouth opened, but no words formed. Our eyes locked, and my chest felt warm.“We know, Jason,” George said with a gentle smile. “Your mother an
