7. Highest shareholder

THIRD PERSON POV

"Do you have an idea why Mr. Jones called for this urgent meeting?"

The shareholders and investors of Cole's company whispered amongst themselves as they waited for Gavin to show up.

Last night, Gavin had called for a shareholder meeting wanting to tell them something important.

Cole on the other hand was pressed. He had no idea as to why Gavin, the biggest shareholder at his company would request they all assembled.

Cole constantly kept looking in the direction of the door while expecting Gavin because he felt nervous in the pit of his stomach. Gavin wasn't one to just call for a meeting and for him to do so, it was serious.

The door opened suddenly and Gavin walked in with his assistant behind him.

"Hello, gentlemen. I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting," Gavin said the minute he stood before the shareholders and investors who were waiting for him.

He looked around the room and once his eyes set on Cole he smiled. He had called this meeting because he had something important to show and tell Cole, his wife ex husband.

"Now that you are here, can you please enlighten us on the reason for this sudden gathering?" One of the shareholders asked.

Gavin adjusted his suit jacket and cleared his throat before he opened his mouth to speak.

"Firstly, I would love to be congratulated by you all. I got married yesterday." He revealed.

"Wow. That's good news. Congratulations. When was that and why weren't we invited?" Cole asked.

"If you know me quite well then you'd know that I'm a very private man. I like to do my things discreetly. Thanks for the congratulations Mr, Lambart," Gavin said to Cole.

"Congratulations Mr. Jones. Although it's not your thing, I would have attended if you did extend the invitation," one of the investors stated.

"Thanks for the congratulations. Now that we are all here, I would like to inform you all about the reason we are all gathered here," he informed them.

“You may come in now.” Monique heard and the men at the door opened the door for her to go in.

She took in a deep breath and exhaled deeply before entering the conference room, and just like he had told her to, she made sure to look confident.

To her surprise, there were so many other people in the room as well, and with how tense the atmosphere was, and the rigid look they all had on their faces, she could already guess that this meeting wasn't planned.

Seated at the head of the table was none other than Cole himself, and she could tell by the horrified look he had on his face that he was shocked to see her.

"M...Mr. Jones," Cole called, getting up from where he was seated, and walking up to Gavin with a bow.

She was initially confused as to why Cole was being so respectful to Gavin, even though Gavin was in his company. But instead of making my confusion obvious, she pretended to understand what was going on.

"I must apologize to you all for calling this meeting without prior notice. I'm sure you're all shocked, and probably wondering what is going on," Gavin spoke, ignoring Cole's greeting.

Monique almost chuckled at how confused Cole looked while staring back and forth between Gavin and her, and if she wasn't supposed to be serious right now, she would have told him to be careful so his eye sockets didn't end up popping out.

"Mr. Jones, you are our majority shareholder, and you have every right to call a meeting when you deem it necessary. Please do not apologize," Cole responded, and Monique mentally widened her eyes.

Major shareholder? Gavin? Oh, that was a surprise she didn't expect.

"Before I proceed to why I called this meeting, I would like for you all to meet my wife, and the new majority shareholder of Legacy Group, Monique Jones," Gavin announced all of a sudden, and at that moment, I couldn't help but break character.

Monique didn't expect Gavin to do this for her so soon but she had never felt so happy and powerful at the same time.

Yesterday when he informed her that he had a gift for her, she never thought it would have to do with Cole's company or ways to be more powerful.

She didn't think it was going to be anything grand but he had his mind. When he informed her of his gift, she was elated. She was grateful. She didn't understand why someone like him had come into her life but she was grateful that he did because he had not only helped her but he had also elevated her.

Although everything he was doing came with a price, she still felt grateful that he considered her.

"Everyone, please meet my wife and also the highest shareholder henceforth, Monique Jones," Gavin introduced to everyone leaving them in shock.

No one expected him to do this but then again they weren't the owners of his share, he was and he could do whatever he wanted but then, there was Cole was still surprised to see his ex-wife walk into the room looking different.

Not only did he find out she got married but she got married to a powerful billionaire and now he had given her his shares which meant in his own company, she was now the biggest shareholder.

He had yet to digest one but now has to deal with another. He felt his mouth go dry as he swallowed the invisible lump that formed in his throat.

"Oh shit," he uttered under his breath, as he looked at his ex-wife Monique in disbelief.

"It can't be. It cannot be." He thought to himself.

This was the woman he picked from the gutter and gave her something. This is the woman who had nothing when he married her. This was the woman he threw out because she was worthy and was like a parasite so how come?

Why was the woman not worthy of anything and the woman who crashed his wedding standing in front of him with a smile on her face?

How did she get someone like Gavin Jones to marry her? From what he heard, Gavin Jones is not a one woman's man, so how come?

All of these questions rang in his head and he had no answers for them.

"Now that she is the largest shareholder of the company. She will be attending all the meetings held and she will be a part of the board. I hope that she will be treated with respect as she is my wife and anyone who is against her is automatically against me," Gavin announced.

The board put their hands together and clapped, welcoming Monique.

Monique smiled in appreciation but that was all. She looked at Cole, her ex-husband, and the man who shattered her heart, threw her out, and laughed at her with a smile on her face.

He wasn't smiling and from the look on his face, she could tell he was still in shock and she loved him.

He doesn't deserve to be happy. This was just the start of her revenge. She would make sure to take all that he had and watch him beg. She will make him pay.

"Thank you all and it is nice to meet you all. I look forward to working with you all." Monique said, looking into the eyes of Cole.

Cole clenched his fist, still struggling to accept the reality in front of him while Monique smiled, loving the look on her ex-husband's face.
