Monique
Gavin and I were seated in the backseat of the car, and I lazily stared out the window. Earlier this morning, he had suddenly asked me to get dressed in formal attire, mentioning that he had somewhere to take me, but when I asked him where it was, he refused to say anything. According to him, this was going to be his wedding gift to me and a way for him to show how committed he was to proving that he meant it when he said he'd help me get revenge. I was genuinely taken aback when he said that earlier, but instead of dwelling on it, I reminded myself not to be fooled or get carried away. As the driver kept driving without stopping, I became even more restless and impatient. I threw a glance at Gavin, before questioning how long this was going to take. "I know you said it's a surprise, or whatever, but can't you please just tell me where we're headed now? I can't stand not knowing anymore." Gavin chuckled softly, his amusement evident in his eyes. "Ah, Monique, I didn't peg you as someone who would be so impatient," he teased lightly. "Don't worry, sweetheart, we're almost there. Just stay calm and wait a little longer." I let out a frustrated sigh, hating how anxious he was making me feel. Finally, after what felt like forever, the car came to a halt, and Gavin turned to look at me with an excited look on his face. "We're here, sweetheart," he said with a soft smile. I stared out of the car window, trying to check where we were, and I was beyond shocked to see where he had brought me. The building in front of me had the name Legacy Group boldly written in it, and I immediately recognized it as the company that was being run by Cole. Why on earth would Gavin bring me here as part of his big surprise? I turned to him, unable to mask my disappointment. "Gavin, if I'm not mistaken, this is Cole's company, right?" I asked."Yes, it is," he simply responded. I sighed, trying to control my rising temper. "If you knew it was, why bring me here? What could be the surprise you have for me in this place?" Even though I was obviously upset, the smirk on Gavin's face remained, making me wonder if he found this situation funny. "Do you trust me, Monique?" he asked all of a sudden, taking me by surprise.I let out a sigh, wondering how best to respond. "I do trust you, Gavin," I replied. "Even though I don't have much of a choice. Regardless, I trust you, and I want you to explain to me why we are suddenly at Cole's company of all places." Gavin turned to face me directly, his hands gently brushing my hair away from my face and tucking it behind my ear. It was an unexpected gesture that made me feel nervous and reluctant."The first step of your revenge starts today, Monique," he mentioned. "And all I'm asking is that you trust me. When we get inside, all you have to do is be confident and watch everything fall into place."I didn't understand what was going on, or what Gavin was up to, but something in me told me to trust that he wouldn't do anything to hurt me. After all, he was now my husband. "Alright, Gavin," I said. "I'm going to trust you this time."At my response, his smile widened, and almost immediately, he opened the car door and stepped out, before walking over to my side and extending a hand to help me out. I took his hand, and together, we walked toward the entrance of Legacy Group. As we entered the building, I started to feel nervous, and the only thing I could hear was the sound of my heels clicking against the marble flooring. Gavin led me through the reception, and for some reason, no one stopped him. It was almost like he owned the place as no one bothered to ask him any questions, and he also seemed to know his way around. After taking the elevator upstairs to the last floor of the building, we walked out before stopping in front of a set of grand double doors, engraved with the words, 'Conference Room'. "Are you ready, Monique?" Gavin asked softly, as he turned to face me.“Yes I am,” I replied.“Alright then. I will go in first and once I signal for you to come in, then do so, okay?” He asked, holding my hands softly and I nodded my head in understanding.Gavin went in and I stood outside waiting for him to call on me.After some minutes, I got the signal. I took in a deep breath and exhaled deeply before entering the conference room, and just like he had told me to, I made sure to look confident. To my surprise, there were so many other people in the room as well, and with how tense the atmosphere was, and the rigid look they all had on their faces, I could already guess that this meeting wasn't planned.Seated at the head of the table was none other than Cole himself, and I could tell by the horrified look he had on his face that he was shocked to see me. "M...Mr. Jones," Cole called, getting up from where he was seated, and walking up to Gavin with a bow.I was initially confused as to why Cole was being so respectful to Gavin, despite the fact that Gavin was in his company. But instead of making my confusion obvious, I pretended to understand what was going on. "I must apologize to you all for calling this meeting without prior notice. I'm sure you're all shocked, and probably wondering what is going on," Gavin spoke, ignoring Cole's greeting. I almost chuckled at how confused Cole looked while staring back and forth between Gavin and me, and if I wasn't supposed to be serious right now, I would have told him to be careful so his eye sockets didn't end up popping out. "Mr. Jones, you are our majority shareholder, and you have every right to call a meeting when you deem it necessary. Please do not apologize," Cole responded, and I mentally widened my eyes. Major shareholder? Gavin? Oh, that was definitely a surprise I didn't expect. "Before I proceed to why I called this meeting, I would like for you all to meet my wife, and the new majority shareholder of Legacy Group, Monique Jones," Gavin announced all of a sudden, and at that moment, I couldn't help but break character.Third-person Pov “Con artist Jennifer Cabello has finally been caught after years of escaping the authorities. She has a record of drugging, manipulating, and stealing from men, as well as marrying them, and faking abuse in order to get divorce settlements. She was also discovered to be the murderer of her foster father, Robin Owen, as well as being involved in a drug-related business,” the newscaster went on, and Monique watched with a satisfied smile on her face. It's been a few days since Whitney was arrested, and as soon as she heard the news of her arrest, she hasn't stopped smiling. She couldn't believe that the person who almost ruined her life, as well as the lives of many other people, had finally been brought to justice, and she couldn't wait to hear what sentence Whitney was going to be given. She was currently at the rooftop of a restaurant, waiting for Gavin to arrive, and while she was waiting, she had decided to catch up on the news on her phone because she was eag
Third-person POV Whitney was nervous, but she tried not to show how nervous she was, especially since she was going to be dealing with gang members, and she couldn't afford to let them know she was a novice. She wasn't about to give them the privilege of walking all over her, so she maintained a bold look on her face, and was very much ready to meet with them, close the deal and be on her way. She had been waiting for about half an hour now, and it was already late into the night.“Why the hell are they not coming?” she wondered out loud as her impatience grew. She typically wasn't a very patient person, and because of how dangerous what she was about to do was, she needed them to get here as soon as possible so that she can get this over with. After waiting for another five minutes, she would spot a thug like man walking toward her, and immediately think to herself that it had to be one of the gang members. “Whitney?” he asked when he finally approached her, and she couldn't h
THIRD PERSON POV“Are you certain that if you see the face of the person you can tell?” The police officer asked the elderly man who claims to have seen someone visit the late Mr. Robin before he died.“Yes, I am certain. That day a lady came by the house. I was taking a stroll around that street. The street is usually quiet because nobody lives there. That cottage is the only cottage there and each time I took a stroll there, I never saw anyone so I was surprised to see a young pretty lady.” The man revealed. He continued with his statements, “I didn’t see her face at first until she turned to look around before entering the house.”“It was during the day that she entered the cottage but at midnight, I saw that lady leaving the cottage and you might be wondering what I was doing there so I will tell you,” he said to the officers before they questioned him any further.“As an old man, I take a stroll a lot of the time because of my legs. It was quite late when I was returning to my h
Whitney's Pov I was seriously running out of money, and it was making me anxious. I had spent way too long at the hotel, as well as spending a lot of money there, but after the stunt I pulled in Gavin's house, I really checked out of the hotel and came to a much cheaper one. I couldn't remember the last time I stayed in such a cheap hotel, but because I didn't have any more money to spluuch and I also needed to remain low-key for a while, I had no other choice but to forcefully enjoy my stay here. I still hadn't heard any news on what happened in the house, but I was desperately hoping that I would hear about Monique's death because that was the only thing that could make me happy. I desperately needed to hear that she was paying for mocking me and that Gavin was whiling away in his misery for daring to make a fool of me. I had a television on for that reason, and I also kept scrolling and scrolling on the internet to see if the news would come up. It had been almost a da
Third-person Pov Despite everything, Monique still could not believe what she had just experienced. It all still felt like a dream to her, and she was waiting for someone to wake her up from this horrible nightmare that she just had. If there was one thing she had avoided all her life, it was getting involved in any situation that could lead to a fire. She was always extra careful when it came to anything that could cause a fire, so the fact that she experienced being in a fire again after trying so hard to avoid it all her life made her feel like she was losing her mind. It also reminded her of everything that she had gone through in her childhood, starting from how she would have died in the fire that her father started if her mother hadn't protected her and how a fire was what ended her mother's life. It had all come rushing back to her in that moment, and now that she was out of danger, she couldn't remember the fear she had felt while it was happening and how it had resur
THIRD PERSON POVIt was the day for Whitney to meet up with the men Cole wanted her to meet. She had six hours before the said time but she had something else going on in her mind.“I think it’s best I do this now before going over there,” she said to herself. As much as she wanted to relax and wait for some other time, for some reason, she felt now was the perfect time for her to do what she wanted. “Do it. Don’t do it. Do it. Don’t do it.” She chanted until she decided to do what it was that she had in mind because she knew that she wouldn’t be able to get it off her mind if she didn't do it.She changed into an entirely different outfit that consisted of a short and white polo shirt. She put some kerosene in a small container. She put on a blackface cap before leaving the hotel room. She didn’t have any makeup on as she wanted her disguise to be so perfect. Whitney planned to infiltrate Gavin’s mansion and set the room where Monique was on fire. She had been thinking about it sinc
