Logan's pov

“You tried to kill him.”

Fiona’s voice cracked like a whip across the cold stone walls of the Blackridge infirmary. Her footsteps echoed as she advanced, fury burning beneath her skin, magic simmering at her fingertips. Rowan, bruised and broken, was shackled to a thick iron post—one enchanted to hold even the most volatile of wolves. Blood crusted at the edge of his mouth, and a purpling bruise spread across his cheek.

He smiled anyway. “I tried to save him.”

“By stabbing him through the soul?” she snapped, fists clenched. “With a blade meant to sever the bond you helped me create?”

Rowan’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “You think this is about your bond? About love? It never was. You gave your power to the enemy, Fiona. You tied yourself to something you can’t control. I am a ticking bomb, and when i goes off, it won’t just be you who burns. It’ll be all of us.”

She stepped closer, her breath trembling. “You don’t get to twist this. You tried to kill him because he’s str

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Seventy seven: when the moon bleeds

Fiona's povThe moon rose red not evem tinged or a crimson through clouds. Just red like blood spattered across bone. The moment I stepped onto the battlements, I felt it. Every hair on my arms lifted. Every instinct screamed that something ancient had cracked wide open.“They’re coming,” Silas muttered beside me, his eyes locked on the tree line. “But it’s not just rogues this time.”He didn’t need to say more.I could see it.The shadows slithered between the pines like smoke. The wind carried howls that didn’t belong to wolves—twisted, metallic, wet. And above it all, in the distance—That cursed sigil. The Hollow King’s banner.Torn cloth wrapped around a sunless crown.I didn’t wait.I ran down to Logan, who stood already in armor, his hands wrapped, eyes glowing faintly with power that hadn’t settled in weeks.“Are you sure you can fight?” I asked.“I don’t have a choice.”He stepped forward and kissed me rough and fast, like it might be the last time.“I’ll hold the line,” he w

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Seventy six: the curse and the crown

Fiona's pov I don’t remember falling asleep. Only the moment I left my body behind. One heartbeat I was on the marble floor, my head cradled in Logan’s lap, the blood of a murdered elder still wet on my boots—And the next, I was standing in a place that did not belong to time. The sky here was black silk sewn with stars. The earth below was nothing but light and at the center of it all.She waited. The First Luna. She wore no crown, but power cloaked her like moonlight. Her eyes were not kind. They were ancient. Quiet. And filled with a grief that had never truly died."You are not the first,” she said. “But you may be the last.”I didn’t bow. I didn’t kneel.I was too tired.“You brought me here,” I said. “Why?”“Because the bond you carry has become more than what it was.”She stepped toward me, barefoot, every movement as fluid as smoke. Around her, the light of the old world shimmered—visions of wolves and war, of love sealed in blood and torn apart by gods.“You and Logan did n

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Seventy five: the hollow king rises

Fiona's povI had never seen so many Alphas in one room. Not like this. Not with their claws close to unsheathed and their eyes darting toward me like I was the bomb no one wanted to admit was ticking. The Blackridge great hall had been cleared and reforged for this summit—stone polished, torches burning, the old crest of the united packs raised above the central dais. But it wasn’t ceremony that brought them here.It was fear.Silas stood beside me, arms folded, stone-faced. Logan remained behind me, near the edge of the firelight. I could feel him there—his power a low hum beneath my ribs, protective but controlled.I didn't dare reach for him.Not with the entire room watching.“You asked us to come,” growled Thorne of Ironjaw, eyes like dark coals. “So speak. Tell us why you’ve summoned Alphas across the five bloodlines. Why we risked our borders for you."I met his gaze. “Because war has already begun. You just haven’t realized it.”A ripple of murmurs. One of the younger Alphas

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Seventy four: revenge counting

Fiona's povMy blood wouldn’t stop burning.Even with Logan’s arm around me, even with Mia gone for now—the residue of her betrayal clung to me like soot. My magic, so recently reignited, pulsed wild and raw under my skin. I could still feel the way her relic strangled it. Could still feel how close she’d come to ending me.“How long were you following me?” I asked as we trudged back through the forest, my steps slow but steady.“Since you crossed the ridge,” Logan said, his voice quieter than usual. “Silas said something felt off. I agreed.”“You could’ve waited until I was bleeding out.”He glanced down at me. “You weren’t?”I smiled and tired, aching, hollow. “Not enough to stop me.”A beat of silence passed. Then he said, “She’s not done, Fi.....”“No,” I agreed. “She’s only just begun.”By the time we reached Blackridge, the wind had turned. Not just cold wrong.Even the guards at the gates felt it, their postures stiffer, eyes scanning the trees like the shadows had started whis

Fiona's pov“Where is he?” I snapped the moment I stepped through the threshold.Lila didn’t move a bit but her eyes said enough.“Gone,” she answered, voice tight. “Vanished two nights ago. Before the council could act.”“Vanished?” I repeated, the word sour on my tongue. “He’s not a ghost, Lila. He bleeds. He lies. He doesn’t just vanish.”She stood her ground at the bottom of the staircase, arms crossed. “You think I don’t know that? I tried to stop him. We all did. But there was no trace—no scent, no trail, not even a flicker of power. Like he was swallowed by the woods.”I stared at her. “He ran.”She nodded once. “Cowards always do.”The silence that followed pressed like a weight on my chest. Thornwood had once been home. Now it felt like a graveyard wearing the skin of memory.“Who’s leading now?” I asked.Lila hesitated. “Me. For now. The others are splintering and some were still loyal to him. Some though but not loyal to anyone.”“Perfect,” I muttered. “Just in time for a w
