Julietta / Julia

I couldn’t get over the sense of dread filling my mind. Why would Daniel Mitchell call me so late at night? We had never interacted with one another in the past. Then why now? It couldn’t be a financial issue since he had confiscated all his parents’ assets. Alan and Rose Mitchell had nothing else to give him. Now, three years after their death, where did he get my number from? How much did he know about me? Did he know my real identity?

I hoped not.

“Umm, I’m not sure what he wants.” I couldn’t meet Dominic’s eyes or tell him about my actual relationship with Alan and his family. Daniel wasn’t my cousin. How could I tell him without giving myself away?

Would he change his mind about marrying me if he knew the truth? No, I couldn’t afford that. I needed the security, the protection he could provide. But mostly, I needed a family to call my own, and a home too. I needed him.

“Then call your cousin and find out.” He watched me warily.

“Maybe tomorrow. I’m exhausted

Julietta / Julia “Damn, I shouldn’t have gone without her! What happened?” Dominic’s booming voice brought me out of my dazed state. Thankfully, Drake had brought me inside the house. A shudder went through my spine, remembering Daniel’s threat. What would I do if Miguel found me? I wouldn’t want to leave Dominic and go back to a prisoner’s life in Tijuana. “A man was threatening her outside the gates, and she lost consciousness, bro. He fled upon seeing me,” Drake explained the situation.“Who?” demanded Dominic angrily. “Is it that weird cousin of yours?” He sat on the bed beside me as I tried to focus my bleary eyes on him.“Yes.” Dominic was livid with fury. “I knew it. That’s the reason I didn’t let him meet you. Why didn’t Fred throw him out?” “He did. The guy was outside the main gates.” Drake tried to calm him down. My mind was too puzzled to discuss the issue. I had no wish to inform them about the true state of affairs between Daniel and me. “What did he want, Julia?

Julietta / JuliaThroughout dinner, his words echoed in my head. It’s gonna be a long night! What did he mean? I was dying to ask him, but something gripped hold of my tongue in his presence. All I could do was savor my dinner and wait for his next bombshell. “I’m waiting, Julia!” He was still watching me, and I blushed. Did he read my thoughts? It would be so embarrassing. “For what?” I tried to focus on our conversation now. Yet I couldn’t remember what he was waiting for. “Feed me. All couples do.” He smiled at the couple seated at the next table. “Don’t you think my fiancée should feed me?” It drew the attention of those around us. I wanted to die of embarrassment. With Dominic at his charming best, they obviously supported him. “Oh, I forgot.” With all eyes on us, I picked up some pasta and fed him, refusing to meet his heated gaze. He didn’t need to tell me explicitly why we would have a long night. His wandering gaze and erratic breathing were enough for me to know. He t

Julietta / JuliaDominic held out his hand for me to take. I didn’t know what he had planned for us, but I placed my hand in his. His eyes sparkled with renewed vigor, further arousing my curiosity. He led me towards the main gate rather than to his car. “Aren’t we taking the car?” I glanced at his amused face. “No, we’re walking.” He led me down the streets, and I looked around in a new light. I had been in New York for the last two years, but I had never enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city as much. “Where?” Now I realized why he had forced me to wear flats instead of the stilettos that matched the dress. His hold on my hand tightened as if he knew who I was thinking about. “You’ll see.” He smiled as he led me towards Central Park. “Oh, a walk in the park in formals!” I rolled my eyes, but he just gave me an amused glance. “Have you come here with your Eric?” He leaned in to whisper. I tried to snatch my hand free, but he held on firmly. “He isn’t mine. Can’t you get tha

Dominic“Why haven’t you booked a table at Le Bernadin for two?” I glared at Harry Bennett, my PA and right-hand man, handling my schedules efficiently for the last five years. I had no idea what I would have done without him. He had proved himself indispensable to me and to the company so far. “They’re full-booked, sir. But I’ve booked a table for two at the Loeb Boathouse Restaurant.” He gave me a hesitant look while I waited for more details. “Why there? Did I ask you to use your brain?” My stupid heart skipped a beat although I acted annoyed. “Because I’ve booked a boat ride for two at the Loeb Boathouse. It’s the most romantic thing to do on a date night, sir. That’s where I had taken my wife to propose. It worked for us, and I’m sure it’ll work for you as well.”I wasn’t as confident. This was the first time I was considering taking a woman out on a date. I didn’t know what had prompted me to announce it to Julia. Now there was no backing out. She would be mad at me. How woul
