Adrian's POV

I sat on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on my knees, just watching her breathe.

The moonlight filtered through the sheer curtains, falling in soft silver strokes across Kayla’s face. Her brow was smooth now—so unlike the way it had been earlier when she was tense and anxious. There was something calming about watching her sleep, the way her lips moved ever so slightly, like she was dreaming of something... someone.

And maybe I was dreaming too. Because today, I found out I’m going to be a father.

Father.

The word echoed in my chest with a mix of wonder and fear. My hand hovered just above her belly for a moment before I laid it gently across the soft fabric of her dress. I didn’t need confirmation. I could already feel it. The shift in her aura. The subtle rhythm of life forming inside her. It was… surreal.

And yet, a shadow lingered. The possibility that she and I might share blood.
