Kayla's pov

I thought about it and a question entered my head suddenly. "Ingrid, do you think he might be responsible for my mother's death too?"

Ingrid gave me a pitiful look and sat beside me. "Oh Luna Kayla, Don't think that way. We don't even know if she's actually dead. There have been no records of her death. We only know that she's missing. We have to hope that she's still out there somewhere, waiting to reunite with you."

I let out a sigh and tried to believe her even though it was very hard to do.

"But do you know anything about how Alpha Dominc... I mean my father died? I need to know how it's connected to the Lycan king."

Ingrid shook her head, "I don't know the exact specifics but all I heard was that one day, The Lycan king and Alpha Adrian went out but only the Lycan king returned alive."

Well that was a complicated situation."

I exhaled slowly. “I need to ask Adrian. If anyone knows the truth, it’s him.”

As if on cue, the door opened and Adrian walked back in. His j

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Lycan land

Kayla's pov We entered my room and i sat in a chair while Adrian leaned against the wall beside me. “If my father tried to take something that belonged to the Lycan king—whether it was land, or a woman—it would explain a lot.” “And if that woman was Lady Rina,” I said, voice low, “it explains why she vanished around your father’s death. Why she was erased from the palace records. Why no one speaks about her. No one would want to remember such a tragedy." There was a heavy pause. “Then we need to speak to my mother,” Adrian said. “She might be the missing link in all of this.” I nodded slowly. “I agree.” A silence settled between us—comfortable, but tense with everything unsaid. The words Adrian had said about the Lycans offering him their land still echoed in my mind, making it difficult to focus on anything else. I was anxious and exhausted, but that particular thought kept running in circles in my mind.He had said the proud Lycans gave him land, even though he mentioned that

Kayla POV By the time we got back to the palace, I was exhausted. My head still throbbed faintly from whatever I had taken, but at least the dizziness had faded. Adrian walked beside me in silence, close enough to catch me if I wobbled again, but far enough not to crowd me. I appreciated it—though it didn’t make the lump in my throat any easier to swallow. The moment we passed through the palace doors, Adrian turned to me. “You should move back into our room,” he said gently. “Or at least closer to me.” I froze halfway up the stairs and turned to look at him. “We’re not—Adrian, I’m not moving back into your room. People already have enough to gossip about. I’m not giving them more.” He sighed, his jaw ticking slightly. “You just collapsed in the open, Kayla. Someone poisoned you or drugged you—whatever it was. You really think I care what people say right now?” “First of all, poisoned is an overreaction. The doctor just said something odd was found in my blood,” I said, holdin

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Asking Ingrid

Kayla's pov Ingrid stood frozen in the doorway, holding a tote bag and wearing a look of complete panic. “I—um—Dr. Marcus said you were awake and I—oh, wow, okay—” she stammered, backing up a step. Adrian cleared his throat and leaned back, running a hand through his hair. I tugged the hospital blanket a little higher and avoided both of their eyes. “This is awkward,” Ingrid muttered, looking between us. “Especially since, you know… you two are supposed to be siblings.” I groaned and buried my face in my hands. “Thanks for the reminder, Ingrid.”She gave a nervous little laugh and stepped into the room before awkwardly walking forward and placing the bag down on the chair. “I brought you a change of clothes and some stuff from your room. Also… soup. Because you keep skipping meals.” “Thank you,” I mumbled. She gave me a quick hug and narrowed her eyes at Adrian. “Keep it PG while I’m gone. Or, better yet, don’t.” “No wait, I’m going downstairs to get her prescription,”

Kayla's pov I blinked against the harsh white light overhead, my mouth dry, my limbs heavy. The smell of antiseptic clung to the air like a warning sign, and the faint beeping of a heart monitor ticked softly beside me. Where…? “Kayla?” Adrian’s voice was the first thing I heard clearly. I turned my head, and there he was, sitting on the chair beside my bed, his brows knitted tight and his usually sharp eyes full of concern. “You’re awake,” he breathed in relief, reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair from my face. His hand lingered for a second before pulling back. “What happened?” I rasped, my throat dry like sandpaper. “You fainted again,” Adrian said gently. “In the hallway. You scared the hell out of me.” I closed my eyes for a second. Oh. Right. The picture, Louisa, the argument—everything came rushing back in pieces. “I didn’t mean to,” I whispered. “I know. But i think you’ve been pushing yourself too hard, no one should faint this often.” Before I could resp

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Louisa and Kayla meet

Kaylas POVI stood alone in the dim hallway, staring at the old, worn photograph my grandfather had handed me hours ago. The blonde girl really looked a lot like the blonde man.My fingers ran across the edges slowly, brushing over the faded faces and soft creases from time. My mother looked so young in the picture—her smile bright and warm. There was something in her eyes that made my chest ache, like I was seeing a piece of myself in her… and that only made it hurt worse.I didn’t even realize I’d been standing still for so long until someone passed behind me and gave me a curious glance. I tucked the picture into my pocket and took a shaky breath. I needed to leave before Adrian saw me—before I had to explain where I was going or why I didn't want to be in the same space as him anymore.I took one quiet step backward, then another.Almost made it.Then—“Kayla?”His voice caught me mid-step. Of course, he’d catch my scent. He was a damn Alpha. I froze.Slowly, I turned around. Adr
