Kayla – POV

I woke up slowly, like my body was trying to protect me from something. The light was soft, the sheets were warm, and there was a hand gently brushing hair away from my forehead.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Adrian sitting beside me, his brows pinched in concern and his eyes—those warm, conflicted eyes—watching me like I was something fragile.

“You’re awake,” he said, voice low, full of something that sounded like relief and guilt all mixed together.

I blinked, disoriented for a second. “What... happened?” My throat was dry, and my lips felt cracked.

“You passed out,” he said, reaching for a glass of water on the bedside table and helping me hold it. “You were shaking. You wouldn’t stop crying.”

And then I remembered.

My heart clenched as the memory crashed over me like a tidal wave—Councilman Augustine's cold voice announcing to everyone that Adrian and I were siblings. The gasps. The stares. The whispers. My knees had buckled before I even understood what was hap

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Familiar blondes

Kayla's pov Grandpa leaned closer and squinted. “Ah… must’ve been an open event where everyone could come so he didn't have to hide her." His words made sense, but something felt offDidn't Lady Catherine say she had never met Lady Rina? All Lunas are required to attend every open event, even if they were sick, wouldn't they have met then? Was she lying then? Could she have been the person who killed my mother? I stared harder at the photograph my grandpa handed me. My fingers traced the old edges as if I could pull the memories out just by touching them. Then i noticed something else. There was something about the way —Adrian’s father—stood with his arm around the familiar blonde man even though my mum was in the middle. There was comfort there, a closeness even a blind man would see. Could this blonde man have been the best friend Lady Catherine mentioned? He looked so much like the woman I saw with Adrian a few days ago. Same pale golden hair, same piercing light eyes. A sib

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Life after Adrian

Kayla's POV The morning air smelled like citrus and something faintly herbal—maybe rosemary or sage. I couldn’t tell. My brain had been stuck in a haze ever since I moved here. The guest room that I was now in sat nestled in a quiet part of the palace, it felt far from Xavier, the councilmen and any other problems I had. That alone made it feel like a safe haven, but emotionally? I was still wrecked. Today though, I was going out with my grandfather to places he wanted to show me. So that was at least something to look forward to. “Come on, sweetheart,” my grandfather said, nudging open the old wooden door that led to a back garden. “It’s not much, but I’ve kept your mother’s garden alive.” That alone was enough to make my chest tighten. I followed him out into the sunlight. The garden wasn’t large, but it was wild and colorful—like it had refused to be tamed. It felt right, somehow. My fingers trailed through the petals of something yellow and soft as we walked. “She p

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Kayla on her own

Kayla's pov The corridor felt longer than usual. Maybe because my steps were heavier. Or maybe because it felt like I was walking away from something I was never ready to leave. I tried to keep my head down, moving quietly, hoping I wouldn't run into anyone. The ache in my chest kept growing, curling into something sharp and constant. I wasn’t just moving my things—I was pulling my heart out piece by piece and pretending it was the right thing to do. I wasn’t sure it was. Why does this feel like goodbye? I paused at the next hallway, wiping under my eyes quickly in case someone appeared. My reflection in one of the ornate mirror frames lining the wall startled me—red eyes, flushed cheeks, and that same lost look I used to see in myself when I was still stuck in Xavier’s pack. Only this time, it wasn’t fear in my eyes. It was heartbreak. "Luna Kayla?" I turned too quickly, already trying to wipe my tears away like they hadn’t been there. Ingrid stood at the end of the hall, he

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Apologies

Kayla – POV I stood in the middle of the room, surrounded by silence. Adrian’s scent was everywhere—on the sheets, in the pillow I used to cling to, in the clothes hanging neatly in the wardrobe. It wrapped around me like a memory I wasn’t ready to let go of. But I had to. I pressed my lips together and bent down to zip up the small duffel bag. I didn’t even pack everything, just enough to get by for a few days. I couldn’t bear to take more. Not yet. Not when this felt like peeling myself away from something that still had its claws deep in my heart. After meeting my grandfather today—after everything he told me—there was just too much spinning in my head. Too many questions, too many buried truths, too much I didn’t understand. And Adrian… he’d done so much for me, tried so hard to protect me. But there was still a wall between us, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready to break it down, or if it was there to keep me safe. I heard the door open quietly behind me. “Kayla?” I didn’t

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Meeting her family

Kayla's POV The dream was so warm I almost didn’t want to wake up. I was sitting on a sunny porch, wearing a light summer dress, my baby giggling in my arms. Adrian was beside me, barefoot and smiling, holding a bottle of milk like he was born to do it. There were flowers blooming around the porch, white and lavender, and everything smelled sweet and alive. The baby—our baby—had his eyes. Golden. Bright. Full of light. And for once, I felt... full too. Not hollow, not scared, not broken. Just happy. Then I felt something shift behind me—real, not dream-like. The bed dipped. Warmth pressed against my back. A low breath near my neck. I blinked, the dream slipping through my fingers like water as I turned slightly to find Adrian curling around me, still in his black t-shirt, hair tousled, the faintest trace of a smile on his lips.He apologized for waking me then said the most shocking thing. “I just met a man,” He said softly. “He claims to be Your... grandfather.” I shot up fro

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Mr Kim

Adrian's POV I was shocked yes, but i wasn't expecting much when I was told Kaylas grandfather who was called Mr. Kim had come to see me. Honestly, I was still half convinced it was some elaborate stunt—maybe even something Augustine cooked up to mess with Kayla. But the moment I stepped into the room where the man waited, I froze. The man stood up slowly, a soft smile on his face. He was tall, lean but healthy. Skin tanned from years in the sun but he looked as wealthy as my councilmen, he was probably a nobleman. His hair had gone completely silver, but his posture was proud, his shoulders squared like someone who had survived life’s worst and still stood tall. And his eyes. They were Kayla’s eyes. Could this be her real family? Was she truly Lady Rina's daugther? My stomach twisted. Damn it. “Alpha Adrian,” the man said warmly. “It’s an honor to meet you. I’m Mr. Kim. Thank you for coming.” He reached out and shook my hand. His grip was firm. I tried not to stare at his ey
