“Why did you stop me! Dante?” I questioned my wolf, pacing around with anger.

I had intentions to make that maid suffer for a few minutes but when she closed her eyes and began spilling tears, it got in the way and Dante forced me to let go of her.

“Nothing, she’s not just worth the waste of time…” He growled back and I scoffed.

“We both know that’s a lie! Making people suffer is where you derive pleasure, irrespective of the person’s gender so you better start telling me what the problem is.” I replied harshly.

“Nothing…”

“Don’t tell me nothing. Why didn’t you kill her that night? Why did you watch her, fuck! Why have you been watching her ever since that night?” I queried.

“I don’t fucking know! I don’t know what the goddess might be playing at but I’m trying to figure it out. You also can’t figure out why you spoke to her the first time, you’re keeping her in the pack without any reason when you could’ve let them take her away.” He retorted and I scoffed.

“If they had been humble before me then maybe I’d have let them take her.” I replied and he sneered.

“We both know that’s a lie, there’s something about her that makes you curious… I’ll try to figure it out…” He replied and I exhaled.

“Figure it out Dante and I do not want history to repeat itself… The goddess better not toy with me again, you know we can never have another mate, my only mate is dead.” I replied, my voice faltered at the thought of my mate and he whimpered quietly.

“I hope so too…” Dante whispered.

I shut my eyes tightly and pushed away every thought of the past from my head. I had no business with the past anymore and I won’t open a wound that has barely healed.

“Alpha… Is everything okay?” Seyric demanded as he knocked on the door.

I grunted a response and he walked in, staring at me with slight concern.

“What?”

“The air is all tense, it seems like you’re sad and I got bothered.” He replied and I chuckled softly.

“Isn’t the air always like this? It reflects my emotions easily.”

“And it keeps all of us in great spirits.” He taunted as he took a seat and stared at me blankly for a moment.

“What?” I demanded, raising a brow.

“Why didn’t you let her go?”

“Who?” I replied, feigning ignorance.

“Don’t pretend, alpha, I’m talking about the maid… Why is she still in our pack? She’s married…”

“It doesn’t look like it.” I answered sharper than intended and he sighed heavily.

“I don’t like her…”

“Neither do I, Seyric.” I retorted and he smiled softly.

“Then let’s get rid of her. I do not want her in this pack…”

“I can’t, Dante won’t let me.” I replied and his eyes widened with shock.

“Dante? What is he saying? What does he want to do with her?” I could see fear written in his eyes and I smiled softly.

“I don’t know, he’s maybe curious, I’m sure he’ll get tired pretty soon and I’ll dispose of her.” I replied, my face buried in a file and Seyric didn’t say a word.

“Why are you here? Did you leave your office just to come discuss a mere maid?” I replied and a huge smile spread across his face.

“You know me too well, well you have a proposal from the Crescent moon pack…” Seyric announced and I rolled my eyes.

“I’m not interested. I don’t need an alliance from them…” I replied and he shook his head.

“Don’t be in a hurry to reject them. Check it out first.” He replied as he threw a scroll on the table and I raised a brow while pulling the scroll over.

I opened the scroll slowly and my eyes began to scan the context and I almost burst into laughter when I reached a point.

“This is some joke right?” I asked, raising a brow at Seyric who was trying very hard not to burst into laughter.

“It doesn’t sound like it, Sophia really wants to marry you and in the message is a list of things you can gain from the marriage.” He replied and my lips curled.

“So what is she going to gain? Am I the only one who should be gaining?”

“She’s going to gain the Luna title. She could be known in the whole world as your Luna, that alone is more than enough gain.” Seyric replied and I burst into laughter.

“Do you think I should get married? I mean the pack is without a Luna and I’m sure the people want a Luna even though they’re too scared to ask for one… This marriage would bring our packs together and open great business opportunities… It could be my bridge to the other alphas…” I said as I stroked my jaws and he nodded.

“It doesn’t sound like a bad plan. She is a beautiful and sexy lady and from the looks of things, she’s obsessed with you. You should accept her proposal…”

“But I hate Alejandro’s guts, everything about him makes my blood boil. He’s arrogant, stupid and weak.” I gritted out, displeasure visible in my voice and Seyric chuckled.

“He doesn’t seem to like you equally but maybe you could start your friendship from this marriage. You would both be business partners.”

“I don’t want to be partners with a slave trader. He’s lucky I don’t know when he does his trade now or else I’d have wrecked the whole thing.”

“And he’s going to report you to the council again and this time around, they will attack with greater force. This is the major reason why all the Alphas hate you, please don’t involve yourself in their business.” He pleaded and I smiled softly.

“But their business is so amusing, I can’t stop myself from getting involved.” I replied sarcastically and he exhaled.

“But think about it carefully, alpha. This marriage could favor every party involved…”

“You talk like I can’t get married to any girl I want. I might be a beast but have you forgotten I’m the most desirable alpha?” I retorted, pride visible as my lips curled up.

Every lady out there wanted to move with me. I commanded attention wherever I went and most times numerous girls lined up just to pleasure me.

“Yes, Alpha but look at it this way. You could get married and this would stop most of the ladies from coming…” He suggested and I raised a brow.

“You think?” He burst into laughter immediately.

“Okay fine. How about you use this as a way of enlarging your coast…”

“Fine, I’ll accept the proposal on one condition. Send words to Sophia and tell her that when her brother decides to give up slave trading, I’ll accept her offer.” I replied with a grin and he shook his head vigorously.

“We both know that's impossible! Majority of their income comes from slave trading, do you think he’s going to give that up for marriage?” He asked and I pushed myself forward a little.

“The question should be, is Sophia that desperate for me?” I replied and he smiled softly. “You’re so cruel.” He whispered as he stood up.

“I’m leaving.” He bowed slightly and turned around.

“Seyric… Get a private investigator to dig up everything about that maid, no details should be left out… I want to know the color of her eyes, down to her body size, her scent and every damn thing that is linked to her.” I ordered sternly and he stared at me, his eyes were wide open and his face was slightly pale.

“Alpha…”
