The night lights decorated the sides of the street and casted a bright glow on the road as few cars passed by.

Nirvana continued to stare at her car and she blinked to confirm what she was seeing as night chill settled over her body and she felt her hand stop shaking but nothing stopped the loud beat of her heart.

Nothing.

There was nothing ahead of her, nothing on the side she stared.

No shattered glass, no noise, no flipped car, no burst tires and definite—and quite shockingly—no truck.

What remained there was her car whose door she left ajar and had swerved to an awkward position when she scrambled for her life which was in the illusion of danger.

Did she just imagine a near death experience?

She had never had anything like this whenever she drove her car to and fro.

Was this the result of being on the same road where she had been hit and burnt to death?

“I still can’t believe that you managed me to drag me to this insufferable gala,” Leah grumbled, and Nirvana scoffed at her.“Stop whining since you are here already and socialize. Maybe one of these many people here would be happy to see you and endorse you,” Boris chided, this earned him a glare from Leah.“How wouldn’t I whine? Of course, I would.” Leah huffed. “Charity gala my ass, look at every one of them sucking up to one another as if they really didn’t want to stick knives in each other back in the shadows.”The party was bustling with life and the after taste of both New Year and Christmas decoration, the whole yard was twinkling with beautiful light and there was no doubt the smell of wealth in the air.The guest who were present at the party had already formed group of business people—donned in their ever expensive suit and dresses—discussing their trade, smiling, laughing and pretending to be enjoying the presence of the person next to them while toasting and sipping down

“I didn’t expect Ms. Davis to switch back so quickly, not that I doubt you or anything, but the fact still remained that Kaitlyn had her under a chokehold.” Laura's voice chirped happily beside her, coated in disbelief and awe. They both made their way to the cafeteria to get their lunches. Or at least get Laura’s lunch, Nirvana had to meet Ophelia later to close their deal and sign the contract. The scent of lunch and chatters of people filled the air, and Nirvana could see Kaitlyn sitting stiffly among the team, looking extremely uncomfortable. Her food remained untouched and she stared at swarming people with a hidden tinge of disgust, but her reputation was on the verge of tattered so she had to do everything to appear better. If she had to only endure this, then so be it.“It is only to be expected, there are some rules that just shouldn’t be crossed. Mrs. Jules actions can be excused but only because she is new here and doesn’t quite get how to deal with things. It is okay to m

The night had turned very dark when Nirvana was finally done with her work. Her teammates had said their goodbyes to her earlier, very used to Nirvana staying back after everyone left to deal with one work of the other.Nirvana had made it perfectly clear to them when they first started working together as a team that they were free to leave when it was time to clock out except the days that she decided to make an exception. She made her way down to the lobby through the elevator and she had hardly stepped out when she bumped into Kaitlyn who was marching towards her in the elevator in furious anger. Nirvana had to force every single muscle on her face not to smirk at her in mockery.Kaitlyn’s frustrated expression always made her day.The Kaitlyn Nirvana knew was one who was used to getting everything she wanted without breaking a sweat. She never had a challenge; she just wanted it and got it.It was at moments like this that reminded Nirvana that Kaitlyn was only human too, not the

“Did you find out what I requested, Laura?” Nirvana asked with a serious expression and Laura nodded firmly and placed the file on the desk.“Yes. Ophelia Davis was one of the clients that we have been managing perfectly and was about to close major deal with no record of stain or disagreement, but miraculously over the weekend had switched over to the next team and there are in the phrase of negotiation and no matter what we did, she wasn’t even ready to listen to us.” Laura explained with mildly furrowed brows. “The second part of the file is based on what I gather —it may not be the full picture. I suggest you read that yourself.” She replied, and Nirvana nodded.“Thank you, this would work just fine too.” She replied, and Laura nodded before she left her office.Nirvana flipped through the file and read the content carefully, before a small smirk tugged at her lips. It was no wonder she had a bad feeling about the client that was stolen from them, she stared at the woman in the pi

It was true that work is something you miss and love only when you are being forced to not work.Nirvana could attest fully to that notion as she stood from her desk with a frustrated expression and face with a small sigh slipping from her lips. She needed to find something to eat. Living at Jules mansion where maids catered to her needs, had spoiled her.The tiredness of moving into a new house had made her forget to reset the alarm earlier to give her time to prepare food for herself. She just had about time to dress and arrive at the company, and her apartment ended up being on the farther side of the company contrary to Leah’s words. Nirvana only wanted to check in, drop her bag and find something to eat but she didn’t expect that the Business Development Team 1 couldn’t function perfectly well without their manager. She immediately got stuck with half-assed business proposals, unchecked contracts, unmaintained RFPs, and what’s more? Business Development Team 2 was halfway from s
