Chapter 6

"Let's talk" Paxton said and she nodded, nervously after being dumbfounded for sometime.

"This way please" he said leading her across the street to his car which was parked by the roadside.

Beatrix hesitated for a while before getting into the car. She hoped he wasn't one with an ulterior motive.

"You'll be fine... I won't harm you" he seemed to have noticed her countenance. He opened his car door widely for her and she stepped in; trusting her mind that he wasn't a bad person.

Paxton quickly went over to the driver's side and slid into the car, shutting the door after him.

"Where are we going?" she needed to at least know the answer to that.

"Uhmm... I have no idea, so I'll let you make the decision" he said and she smiled; he was definitely not pulling some bad strings but she had no place in mind.

"Any where would be better" she said looking away. "What!?" she gasped and she immediately shielded her face.

"What's the matter?" Paxton asked turning off the engine of the car.

"Drive off" she said hurriedly making Paxton confused.

"Okay, let's go to my house" he said starting the car, he wasn't sure what was going on but he had to do what she said.

"Just go" she said swinging her hands; did she just see Tyler staring at her? she had thought he had gone earlier. She was sure he had seen her entering into Paxton's car. This was bad, she concluded biting on her lower lips.

Paxton couldn't understand the reason for her being like that, maybe some drink would loosen her up; he concluded revving up the engine and soon, they were at his house.

"What's this place? a mini hotel?" she asked taking off her seatbelt and Paxton quickly got out of the car to help her get down.

"Welcome to my home" he smiled holding the door for her but her heart beat doubled and she stared at Paxton.

"Take my hands-" he said stretching out his hands but she didn't seem intrigued by his kind gesture.

"Why did you bring me to your place?" she asked in a serious tone and Paxton squinted his eyes in confusion.

"Is this a joke or you have Alzheimer?" his tone changed, putting Beatrix in a thinking position and she recalled how she had agreed to come to his house when shielding herself from Tyler.

"Oh!" she clutched her purse to her arm and forced a smile and she got down of the car quickly. She felt embarrassed, how could she create this impression on their first day? she mentally face palmed herself and walked faster than Paxton.

"Oh no!" she sighed when she got to the door and she realized Paxton would be the one to open it up.

"Hold on" Paxton touched her shoulders and carefully moved her away, to pave way for himself.

"7481-" he said out loud as he input the passcode.

"After you" he said moving slightly away from the door for Beatrix to walk by

"Thanks" she said walking in quickly, she still felt embarrassed. "Why did you have to say your pin out loud?" she asked turning to look at Paxton who took his time to walk in

"Uhmm... incase something stirs up in the future" he revealed his set of pearly whites.

"Feel at home, I'll be right back" he said using the stairs.

"Incase something stirs up in the future" these words replayed in Beatrix mind. She was marveled at his confidence. She hadn't agreed to his request and here he was calling out his house passcode like they had been together for years.

Beatrix scoffed, standing up and she decided to explore the mansion. It was the perfect size she had ever imagined she wanted to leave in

Was this a dream come true? she snapped out of her thoughts and moved towards the wine shelf.

The shelf seemed to be occupied with no space left; Paxton had all the wine she ever knew and the ones she didn't; then why did he visit the club frequently? she couldn't imagine herself having all these and visiting the club; she would turn her sitting room to a club.

"What's going through your mind?" Paxton made snaps across her face and she blinked, turning to look at him

"Oh.... I was just wondering why you go to the club when you have all brands of wine in your house. You could just make here a mini club" she shook her head, not expecting an answer.

"Yeah, I could do just that... but one thing would be missing" he sighed taking out a bottle of grape wine and two glass cups.

"What's that?" Beatrix inquired, he had a lot of money, so she wondered what could possibly be missing that he couldn't get with money

"Do you care for?" he asked raising the glass cup and she nodded, staring at him keenly. He seemed to have heard her question but ignored it intentionally.

"If I had offered you alcohol? would you have accepted?" he asked staring into her eyes. Her gaze was as calm as he had ever imagined.

"I wouldn't have-"

"For what reason? you don't trust me?" he seemed to be heartbroken by her reply but he was amazed by her straightforwardness.

"If I say I trust you, wouldn't it be hard for you to believe? this is our first time together and I know nothing about you. It's enough reason not to trust you but-" she brushed her fingers over her hair strands

"-but?" his eyes widened in curiosity

"I wonder why you trust me enough to say your passcode out loud when we just met" she needed an answer.

"You just met me... I didn't just meet you, I've been stalking you for a while, ever since I set my eyes on you. I guess that's enough reason" Paxton said which left Beatrix speechless.

This man sitting beside her had been keeping tabs on her, he didn't just want a night stand, he wanted something serious but she didn't want that, she preferred to be rich and unknown.

"Back to making my sitting room a club-" Paxton started, he didn't like the silence that went on between them, changing the topic would do.

"Uhmm yes" Beatrix immediately said

"You said something would be missing, what will that be?" she leaned forward on the counter.

"You"
