Chapter 7

"You!"

"Huh?" she gasped, covering her mouth with her palm. What was Paxton saying? was he drunk or what? she asked herself.

"Me? why me?"

"I'm not a club person. Most people believe that wealthy men that go to the club do that to satisfy their sexual urge-" he paused to see if Beatrix was in agreement and just as he had expected, she was.

"Yeah, 'cause that's the main reason they go there. No man would want a stripper as a wife" Beatrix said and Paxton sighed deeply, she was definitely a difficult one.

"I'm not those men. The reason I go to The Cubicle regularly is because of you" he licked his lips and then continued

"I went there to get one of my friends and I saw you. The moment I set my eyes on you, I fell in love with you and I had to inquire about you. Lorelei told me that you're the best dancer-"

"and that didn't ring a bell? I'm a stripper!"

"Who cares darling? I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want you to be my woman" he stood up and walked close to her

"I don't care what you do..." he placed his hand on her shoulder

"People have different ways of surviving and I guess dancing was a way for you. There's no point criticizing that but I can change your life, I can-"

"Change my life? that's what rich people think! They think they have everything and can do everything!" she blurted out angrily, standing up and clutching her purse to her arms

"I'm so sorry I'm not perfect for you, I'm not fit to spend the rest of your life with you!" she snapped at him

"I'll take my leave now" she angrily headed to the door

"Beatrix!" Paxton called out "Let me at least drop you off or call a cab" he said

"Enjoy your rich life" she mumbled walking out of his mansion.

"Why get so mad?" Paxton looked confused, he turned to follow her but immediately had a change of heart, it was better to let her be, he'd call her when she had calm down

"Oh shit!" he cursed, he didn't get her number either! what bad luck he had!

Beatrix walked outside his gate, and flagged down a taxi, she was lucky to see a cab at this hour of the day.

"Thanks" she got out of the taxi when she had gotten to her destination and hurriedly went inside.

Why did she have to behave that way? why did she overreact? she asked herself. She knew Paxton only meant that in a friendly manner but she felt he was too good for her, she didn't deserve him but she needed money; perhaps, she should just stick to her initial plan of just spending a night with him.

She picked up her phone but was surprised that she didn't get any calls from miss Lorelei.

Did anything happen at the club? she wondered, dialing her number and on the third ring, miss Lorelei came to the phone

"Beatrix how is your night going?" Beatrix was surprised at her question, it wasn't what she was expecting

"It.. it.. it's going fine" she stuttered trying to understand what was going on

"I'm sorry, I couldn't come to the club today. I had to-" she was cut short

"-it's fine dear. Mr Paxton said he was with you" she seemed glad saying that.

She didn't expect Paxton to rat that out to her boss. He was already trying to take control of her life and she didn't like it in anyway.

"That's true" Beatrix clenched her teeth trying so hard not to show that she was pissed.

"Can we meet up if you're not busy?" Miss Lorelei asked

"Okay then. Where-"

"The restaurant opposite the clubhouse in 10 minutes" she hung up immediately.

"Paxtonnnnnn!!" she yelled shaking her feet in anger. She stood up when she was calm, and taking her keys, she left

Walking into the restaurant, she could spot Miss Lorelei at the far end of the restaurant.

"Hmph" she sighed with relief. She had initially thought Paxton would be there since both Paxton and miss Lorelei appeared to be working hand in hand; if that was the case, she wasn't going to be comfortable with it.

"Good evening miss Lorelei" she helped herself unto the chair

"Good evening Beatrix. Thanks for coming, I don't think I'd be taking much of your time" she said and Beatrix forced a smile, she hoped she'd keep to her word.

"Let's talk over a drink" Miss Lorelei said and Beatrix breathed deeply "This was definitely going to take her time" she said but luckily, she wasn't in a hurry to go somewhere.

"Waiter!" Miss Lorelei beckoned on one who took their order and in no time, they were served a drink.

"So... what was so urgent that it couldn't wait until tomorrow or you couldn't say on the phone?" Beatrix was done with the suspense miss Lorelei was keeping.

"It's not something you've not heard before. It's about Paxton. He's interested in you, I can feel it. He loves-" she started but Beatrix interrupted her

"He loves me or he pretends to love me?" Beatrix could tell that Paxton was into her but her trust issues was getting in her way and she didn't mind keeping it that way.

"He wouldn't pretend. What would he gain by pretending. Look at the bigger picture girl! you have nothing to lose. He's rich, handsome and caring. He's responsible also" Miss Lorelei tried to convince her.

Beatrix stared at the air, Miss Lorelei was right, he had everything a lady would want in her man but she couldn't understand why he was after her.

"There are other fine strippers at the clubhouse, why me?" she inquired

"If you were Mr Paxton, won't you choose yourself?" she asked and Beatrix nodded, she'd definitely pick herself.

"It's easy, like I said earlier, this kind of offers are hard to come by"

"Hmmm..." Beatrix sighed, thinking deeply, age needed to make her decision here and now.

"Have you made your decision?" miss Lorelei asked after giving her some minutes

"Yes" she kept a straight face

"Which is? You'll agree to be his girlfriend, right?"

"I won't" she bit her lips

"I'll just spend a night with him!"
