chapter Three

The car continually sped past different buildings and the farther away we move from the familiar places, the more dim my hopes becomes. There is no point wasting my energy shouting, the car is tinted and with this speed, it is almost impossible for anyone to see my struggles.

Not to consider the fact that no one would dare to stop a car of the Fidelis family. They noticed I have stopped struggling and exchanged looks after which the bodyguard stops holding me.

After some time, the car was already in front of a big gate, the building before looks like a palace, so even if I have never been to a club before, I could tell that he did not bring me to a club like he has threatened.

The gate swung open like a magic portal, letting Fredrico’s  car cruise past the serious-looking guards into what seemed like a fairy tale land of luxury.

The driveway was so smooth it felt like riding on a cloud, and the grass on either side was so perfectly trimmed, it looked like it belonged in a painting. Big trees waved hello as if they were saying, "Welcome to paradise!"

The mansion itself was like something out of a fancy magazine—huge columns made of shiny marble stood tall, holding up a roof that sparkled in the sunlight. It was like a castle from a storybook, but even fancier!

Cameras peeked out from behind bushes, almost like they were playing hide-and-seek, making sure everything stayed safe and sound.

Inside, there were gardens that looked like they came straight from a movie, with flowers blooming in every color imaginable, and fountains that sang sweet songs as water danced in the air.

I forgot my troubles for a while as I beheld the beauty of the paradise where he lived. He stared at me, and if I didn't know just how much he hated me, I could have sworn that love poured from his eyes for a few seconds.

He noticed me staring back at him, shifting my focus away from the luxury in front of me to behold this demi-god. Truth be told, it's very understandable that girls are throwing themselves at him because, aside from his wealth, he is also very handsome.

If they were to hold a beauty pageant in school, I'm sure he would easily win first place without contest. He is even more stylish and handsome than his brother, who has topped the list of the most eligible bachelors several times in a row.

"Why are you staring at me? Don't tell me you suddenly love me now that you have an idea of how rich I am," he questioned, a mocking grin playing on his face. I hissed and walked away from him.

I used to admire him for being very handsome and all, but I knew he was way out of my league, so I never entertained the thought of him. After what he did today, I'm sure I have no admiration left for him.

I voluntarily walked inside the mansion myself because there is no point in being dragged, and there is no way I can escape from this place judging by the number of cameras and hefty men guarding every corner.

"I see you've resigned to fate. That's great; at least you make things easier for the both of us," he said as he pinned me to the sofa that felt as soft as seating upon the folds of the sky. I didn't even realize how poor I was until I stepped into this building.

Everything here screams luxury, and no matter how grand a job I get after my degree, I can never achieve half of his wealth alone in this lifetime.

"What should I offer you?" I turned to his direction to berate him on how I do not wish to be drugged or poisoned, but before I could say anything, he had already left and was standing by the entrance of what I thought could be the kitchen.

I simply made a mental note not to take anything he offers me if I still wish to walk out of this place on my own. I at least need to be clear-headed to escape from his clutches unscathed.
