Right, exactly!" Marcus was furious, never having encountered such a scandalous situation in his life, he shouted, "I'm not marrying her!"

Mrs. Sabrina was also present and he pleaded with her to be a witness.

Laura, thinking quickly, remembered her daughter Katrina's tearful face and grabbed Mrs. Sabrina's arm.

"The marriage was arranged by my late mother-in-law and we can't go back on it, but now that Serena has embarrassed us, I can't let Marcus marry her..."

"Speak your mind," Mrs. Sabrina said.

"Katrina, why don't you marry Marcus?" Laura suggested, winking at Katrina across the room.

Hearing this, Marcus immediately declared to the elderly lady, "Either we cancel the engagement today or I marry Katrina! Get this unfaithful woman out of my sight!"

Mrs. Sabrina, having weathered many storms, remained calm despite the chaos.

She looked at Serena, "You haven't said a word until now."

"Today was supposed to be my wedding, but I messed it all up. I'm willing to take responsibility for my actions..." Serena suddenly changed her tone, "but you all must also face the consequences of your actions."

Her gaze shifted among the crowd, especially lingering on Katrina, who wore a falsely innocentexpression. Serena smiled slyly.

Katrina's face turned pale and just as she was about to speak, Serena calmly took out her phone and played a video for everyone to see.

It was a scandalous, revealing clip.

The scene was set in the Vale family villa, in a second-floor bedroom, where the protagonists, Katrina and Marcus, found themselves in a compromising situation.

Katrina, who had only recently discovered she was mistakenly raised as a wealthy heiress, had always maintained a noble and lady-like reputation, with no rumors of a scandalous private life.

Yet here she was, entangled with her soon-to-be brother-in-law in her own bedroom.

Her face turned ghostly pale as she screamed and lunged for the phone. Serena refused to give it up.

In the midst of the struggle, Laura rushed in, breathless and furious. "You ungrateful wretch! How dare you tarnish your sister's reputation like this? We should never have brought you back, you disgrace!"

The mother-daughter duo was strong and they finally managed to snatch Serena's phone. Laura quickly deleted the incriminating video.

Throughout the chaos, Damien stood by with his arms crossed, watching the drama unfold.

When he grew tired, he sat down and fiddled with his phone, acting as if none of it concerned him.

It wasn't until Serena spoke up, "Marcus can call off the engagement, but he must publicly announce that I dumped him. Otherwise, I'll release this video. Whether people find out he was cheated on or that he was fooling around with his fiancee's sister, the Kade family's reputation can't afford such a scandal!"

Mrs. Sabrina furrowed her brows.

Though she was old, her mind was as sharp as ever. Weighing the pros and cons, she quickly made a decision while everyone else was still tense and on edge.

"This wedding has already caught the attention of all the elites in New York. If we cancel now, the Kade family will become a laughingstock. Since Marcus refuses to marry Serena, we'll just have to switch things up..."

Laura's eyes lit up, ears perked, expecting the old lady to announce Marcus's marriage to her precious daughter, Katrina.

"As long as there's a Kade and a Vale in the marriage, it doesn't matter. So, let's have Damien marry Serena!" Mrs. Sabrina knew the uproar her words would cause, but her mind was made up.

After seeing the video, her impression of Katrina had plummeted and she would never allow such a woman into the family.

"Damien, Serena, what do you think?"

Damien, tired from playing on his phone, stretched his neck a bit and lazily glanced over at Serena on the bed.

Serena had expected him to refuse, but to her surprise, he chuckled softly and said, "I wouldn't miss it for the world, because Miss Vale and I... are madly in love with each other!"

Love?! Well, it certainly was a night to remember.

Serena tilted her head back, blinking before suddenly smiling, "Alright, I'll go along with whatever Mr. Kade decides."

Katrina and Laura were in disbelief.

Marcus's knuckles were audibly cracking.

Mrs. Sabrina, the matriarch, could see the oddities and undercurrents in the situation.

However, with no way out, preserving the Kade family's reputation and ensuring the wedding went smoothly was the best course of action.

She never expected that the usually aloof and sharp-tongued Damien would agree to such a hasty marriage.

In the past, no matter how many potential brides were presented to him, he wouldn't even spare them a glance. It almost made her think he was still hung up on that woman from years ago...

"Since you're both willing, let's proceed with the arrangements!" Mrs. Sabrina's expression didn't soften and before leaving, she shot a stern glare at the younger generation.

Everyone had their own agenda and no one was innocent.

...

After the dramatic confrontation, everyone else dispersed, leaving only Damien and Serena in the room.

"Is Mr. Kade really planning to marry me? I was just trying to annoy Marcus and now I've ended up with a handsome husband like you for free!"

Damien's eyes were cold as he let out a soft snort, lifting her chin with a finger. "You've got some nerve! Using me to get back at those two jerks?"

Serena's eyes sparkled with a mischievous charm. "To be honest, the first time I saw Mr. Kade, I was drawn to your face..."

She leaned in and planted a kiss on the corner of his lips, "and now you're going along with it, aren't you?"

Damien's gaze remained icy, but his grip on Serena's chin tightened.

"I have to get married anyway, my family won't stop nagging. Might as well give them what they want. Since Miss Vale walked right into my trap, I'll play along, but my bed isn't easy to get into, so don't cry later..."

Despite the drama, the wedding went on as planned. Damien simply changed into a new suit and prepared to walk down the aisle.

Before that, he took a call from his assistant, who had thoroughly investigated Serena's past before she was taken back by the Vale family.

One of the officers replied, "You're under arrest for fraud and causing someone to commit suicide. Justice may be delayed, but it is never denied. We've finally caught you. Recalling Katrina's demeanor, Mrs. Sabrina's expression darkened. "There are so many women in this world, why choose this Katrina? Don't even think about it. She will never be part of the Kade family."The Kade family wasn't a place just any woman could marry into.Marcus couldn't quite understand why Mrs. Sabrina had such a strong opinion against Katrina. He felt a bit uncomfortable, but given Mrs. Sabrina's clear stance, saying more might only anger her.Oh well, this wasn't something to rush. He'd have to take it step by step. He just needed to slowly get Mrs. Sabrina to accept Katrina. After all, he couldn't yet unseat his uncle from the CEO position, so he needed the Vale family on his side.Even though his uncle had married Serena, she wasn't well-regarded in her own family. The Vale family parents had always shown a strong dislike for Serena, favoring Katrina instead. Alright, just be careful not to get burned. I'll message you back after I find out more.""Okay, I'll hang up now."Serena hung up the phone and immediately called Damien.Damien was in the middle of a meeting when he saw Serena's call. He paused the meeting and asked the others to continue the discussion without him.Stepping out of the conference room, Damien answered the call."What's up?""I need to ask you something," Serena's raspy voice brought to mind the times she'd pleaded with him, which seemed to put him in a good mood."Get to the point," he said, his voice still as cool as ever but with an added layer of intrigue.Serena didn't beat around the bush. "Why is the company asking Liam to resign? Did he do something wrong?"Damien raised an eyebrow slightly. "The matter of resignations doesn't usually reach my level, but the company isn't planning any layoffs right now."In other words, the company hadn't fired anyone unless they chose to leave on their own.Serena paused, wo

Liam shook his head vigorously and said, "I'm sorry. It was my fault last night. But don't worry, I'll take responsibility for what happened."Liam had always been a straightforward person. He never admitted to things he actually did. So, Layla was surprised when Liam offered to take responsibility.Last night's events might have been a fluke, perhaps a trick of the senses dulled by alcohol, leading to misunderstandings. Actions taken while drunk usually don't count for much, but Layla didn't expect Liam to step up.Finding it amusing, Layla asked, "So, how do you plan to take responsibility?""If you don't mind, I'd like to marry you..."Layla was stunned, completely taken aback. They barely knew each other, having only met twice, his sudden proposal left her shocked.Swallowing hard, she asked, "Are you serious? We hardly know each other. Isn't getting married a bit too fast?"Liam thought for a moment and nodded, "You're right. Let me introduce myself first. I'm Liam, head of the d

The man glared at Damien with resentment but stopped struggling. He had forgotten that this area was under surveillance and everything he did to Serena had been recorded. There was no way to deny it.On the way home, Serena fell asleep. Damien glanced at her, feeling quite helpless. When they arrived at the apartment, he touched Serena's forehead. She was running a slight fever again.Just after her fever subsided, she went out drinking again. She really wasn't afraid of anything. He found Serena's medicine and helped her take it.Serena nearly spat it out; it was so bitter.Damien quickly covered her mouth, "Swallow it. Don't you dare spit it out."Serena had no choice but to gulp it down and then a piece of candy was popped into her mouth. This whole ordeal left Serena wide awake. Maybe she had napped a bit in the car and the alcohol was wearing off.She quickly stripped off her clothes and threw herself onto Damien.Damien was speechless."They say when you have a fever, doing that

Serena smiled at Layla. "Don't worry! We haven't lost yet. Winning or losing isn't determined now, but in three days..."Layla's eyes suddenly lit up. "You mean, a lot of people might return their purchases from Lila's side?"Serena smiled warmly, "Absolutely, just watch and see."Layla chuckled, "Alright then, let's celebrate our successful collaboration."Serena was planning to invite Layla's team along with her own for a celebratory dinner, maybe even a little party, since they had worked together so well. But before she could suggest it, Liam, the department head, brought it up himself.Since Liam had already proposed it, Serena had no objections. Both teams went out for a celebratory meal.
