OLENA

I lowered my head the instant I saw him, Abraham, alone in the King’s private bathing chamber. The room was tucked deep within the palace, hidden behind layers of corridors. A place only he was ever allowed to enter.

I still didn’t understand what made it so forbidden. What was hidden here that made even high-ranking guards too afraid to step past the threshold? Why did it feel like just being here was a crime?

I spotted three bulky guards stationed outside, not at the bathroom door itself, but guarding the outer lounge. No one was supposed to be here.

The last time Kane brought me to this place, there hadn’t been a single guard at the front. So why now?

"Make sure no one finds out you were here," Kane had warned. "Or you'll be executed in broad daylight."

I hadn’t stopped thinking about that since I stepped inside. My palms were still a little sweaty.

Abraham hadn’t moved. He sat in the sunken bath, eyes shut, arms resting behind him on the stone ledge circling the water. The s

OLENA"Ignore him," Zinnia muttered, though her voice trembled. I caught the way she placed her hands on the both of her arms like she was feeling cold, her eyes glued to the door. Then came the loud thud, he was banging on the door and then he entered inside and dragged her by her hair."Let me go,""How dare you keep me waiting huh?" A sharp smack echoed through the corridor. I flinched, heart jumping. He slapped her.I hadn’t expected it. None of us did.“Follow me,” he barked, yanking June by the ear.“Ow! Let go, you psycho!” she hissed, clawing at his wrist, trying to break free. Her voice trailed off as he dragged her down the hall.“Serves her right,” someone muttered behind me and it was June.“June!” I called, spinning toward her room. She looked back once, before shaking her head and disappearing behind the door. But I couldn’t move. My stomach twisted as I stared after them. That man, he was going to hurt her.And I had no idea how to stop him. "June, will you come out?"

“What’s with the stares? Everyone, back to work!” Thalia snapped from beside Morgan. In an instant, the other slaves scattered—grabbing brooms, mopping floors, scrubbing corners. Bare feet slapped against the cold marble as they rushed to look busy.Except Rubbie and Ava.They didn’t move. They stood there with smug grins, arms folded, like they owned the place. No black slave robes on them. Rubbie wore tight jeans and a clean white top. Ava was in a fitted purple dress that hugged her.I didn’t need anyone to explain how they got those clothes.A cold breeze drifted through the hallway, making my soaked dress cling to me even more. My chest tightened. Panic crawled up my throat. I couldn’t let Morgan and Thalia see me like this, dripping wet.Without thinking, I dropped my head and ran.I didn’t know where I was going. I just needed to get away.I made it into the servant’s wing before ducking into Room 200. Zinnia’s room, I couldn't walk to my room, yet. My chest heaved, breath shak

ABRAHAMThen Kane dragged the edge from my forehead… down past my eyelid… across my cheeks.Pain exploded.Blood poured hot and fast.I then struck them all with a force that sent bodies flying.I dropped to my knees, breath ragged, heart pounding, vision spinning. And slowly, the darkness started to lift and zubat’s grip loosened.I was taking back control as my breathing calmed down and my hands stopped shaking. Then I looked at the cause of all this.Sam.He was still tied to the chair, shaking his head with his eyes red in tears. When our eyes met, he collapsed inside himself.“Please… forgive me.” He sank lower, trembling violently. “I must’ve lost my mind. King, please!”The ropes slipped. He slid off the chair and collapsed to the ground, sobbing.Perfect.I picked up the dagger from the floor and hit it deep into his leg.His scream echoed through the basement. Then I turned to his other leg and did the same. I twisted the blade as I pulled it out.Blood gushed. He writhed and

ABRAHAMI didn’t stop him nor did I react. I just stood there, watching him walk away while talking about setting up a meeting with me like nothing had just happened.“You’re bleeding, King,” Catzn said quietly beside me. “Let me wrap your hands.”The anger in me was burning, ready to explode. But curiosity held me still or else he would have done something so unexplainable to him. From the moment I caught him staring at Olena on his first day in my kingdom, I knew something was off. Today, my suspicions were confirmed. My fists clenched tighter at the thought. Pain bit into my palms as claws broke through my skin, and blood slid down in thin lines.“No need,” I muttered.Catzn bowed his head and said nothing more. When we reached the garage, a car pulled up without a sound. Kane opened the door for me and then walked straight to the basement. From the stairs, I could already hear the noise. Sam was still tied up, his arms hanging from a rope attached to the ceiling. His body was cov

OLENA It’s been two days since they told me the Lycan King didn’t need me anymore. No reason. No explanation. Just... dismissed.Still, a part of me wonders if Ronan didn't get on Abraham's bad side. Then I quickly shut the thought down. Why should I care? He’s the reason I’m here. He’s the one who sold me.I haven’t seen Abraham since that night. Not even once and his room has been locked. I wonder where he was.“What are you thinking about?” Zinnia’s voice snapped me out of it.“If Thalia catches you this slow, she’ll dump twice the work on you.”I blinked and looked down, realizing I’d been scrubbing the same spot on the window over and over.Zinnia gently touched my shoulder. “Come on. Finish up. Let’s go find June before she disappears again.”I nodded and pulled myself back into focus. After we finished with the floor, we made our way outside the castle, walking to the kitchen where the slaves' meals were being prepared. The restaurant was loud with clanging pots and the sharp
