LOGINGABRIELLE’S POV
With dread in the pit of my stomach, I drove my car into the driveway of my father’s mansion. I took a deep breath and turned off the ignition. I didn’t know how to face them. How do I tell Father that my sister did something like that to me? That would only break his heart. But I had no other choice. I took off Damon’s ring and kept it in the compartment of my car before stepping out and walking into the house. Just as expected, Father, Emily, Jared and a few other guests were sitting in the living room. They all stood up when they saw me walk in. Emily rushed forward and hugged me. “Sis, where have you been? We’ve been looking everywhere for you.” I didn’t hug her back. I just stood there wondering how she could fake her love for me so well. Father stepped forward, his jaw tight. “Gabby, who took you away from your wedding day? There was a rumor you were with that monster, Damon Gravari. If he even touched a single hair on your head.” “No, I saw….” I didn’t finish because my fiancé cut me off. Jared wrapped his arm around me. “I thought something had happened to you.” When he pulled back, I saw tears running down his cheeks. The audacity of this conniving, cheating bastard to cry in my face. The other guests took it as their cue to leave. I was led me to the couch and I sat, wondering how I could expose my evil twin without breaking Father’s heart. “Please, tell us what happened,” Emily said, patting my back as she sat beside me. “Because we have something to tell you too.” “What do you mean?” I asked. Jared cleared his throat. “We had no other choice. We thought no one would find out but it blew up in our face. But it’s nulled now since it got out.” I looked between them. “What are you talking about?” Emily sighed. “I got married to Jared on your behalf when we couldn’t find you. During the reception, that photo of you went viral and when they couldn’t find the other twin, they realized I was the fake bride.” I froze, staring at Emily and Jared like my brain refused to process her words. “You… you got married… in my place?” My voice barely rose above a whisper. Emily nodded, her hand still lightly on mine. “We didn’t know how else to fix it. People were calling, flashing cameras everywhere. You were gone, Gabrielle. We had to do something.” I wanted to scream. “And you let them?” I asked Father. “It was just to cover up, Gabby,” he said. My chest burned with so much rage. I turned to Father to tell him what I saw them both doing in the shower but I held back. Emily had a butterfly tattoo on her left arm and in the tape I made, it was very obvious. Everyone knew I was too scared of needles to get one myself so it became a way for people to tell us apart. With that information, I decided to take us all to hell. I sighed. “I left because I was nervous. I’m not happy you married my fiancé but I understand. It doesn’t matter. We can throw a small party tonight and officially get married.” Jared smiled. “That’s a good plan. I knew you would understand.” I pasted on a fake smile as Emily droned on about the wedding. I already had my plan and I was going to savor my first revenge. * * * * I looked at my reflection in the mirror but there was no smile on my face and I didn’t twirl either. I put on a red dress with a deep neck plunge and styled my hair into a messy bun. To everyone else, it was a private dinner with family and close friends where Jared and I would redo our vows. But to me, it was war. Tonight, I would get my revenge and I would savor it. I walked into the hall and Mrs Raymond, the town's biggest gossip pulled me aside. “Rumor has it that you were having an affair with Damon Gravari,” she stared and leaned closer. “If it’s true, be careful with him. He’s the devil and he’s ruthless.” I scoffed. “It’s not true and he’s not the devil. He saved me.” She nodded. “If you say so. I’m just looking out for you because your mother would have wanted me to.” Before I could respond, my phone rang. “Excuse me,” I said, walking outside to answer the phone. “Who’s this?” I asked. “Your husband,” a deep voice answered from the other side of the phone. “Damon.” I didn’t bother asking how he got my number. I fucking married the man, it was no brainer I gave him my number. I held the phone tight, my pulse picking up. “Damon… what are you doing calling me now? This isn’t exactly a good time.” “Where are you?” he asked instead. I scoffed. “Like I’d tell you. Don’t call me again. I’ll let you know when I’m ready for a divorce.” Then I ended the call and walked back into the hall. My phone rang again and it was the same number. I didn’t bother picking up this time. I joined my family at their table. “We’ll be saying our vows in a few minutes,” Jared said, placing his hand over mine. I faked a smile. “I’m so excited. Can’t wait.” “I’m so jealous, Gabby,” Emily cooed. “I wish you and Jared a happy married life together.” What a bitch! Father was all smiles. “I’m so proud of you.” I cleared my throat and pushed my chair back before I exploded with rage. “I’ll be back in five.” I went by the DJ booth and pulled out a drive from my purse. “This is a short video of the times Jared and I spent together. I need you to play it on the main screen when it’s time to say our vows.” “Sure, ma’am,” he said, taking the drive from me. A text message from an unknown number came through on my phone as I got back to my seat. I opened it and read its contents. “You’re wearing red, your hair is in a messy bun and your lips are deliciously red. Unless you want me to come in, you’ll come see me outside. Five minutes.” It was from Damon. I swallowed hard. My heart started to thump like a warning bell in my chest. I turned my phone over, staring at the blank screen as if the message would disappear if I ignored it long enough. “Gabrielle, it’s time for our vows,” Jared’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I smiled and took his hand as he led me to the small stage where the priest was waiting. “Welcome, family and friends. We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two souls, joined together in love and commitment,” the priest started. My chest tightened. I gave a nod to the DJ and in five seconds, the sex tape of Jared and Emily started playing on the main screen. The guest let out a gasp as the Priest went on, oblivious to the video playing behind him. “Yes… Jared… More…,” Emily’s voice rang out through the hall. “You like that, Emily?” Jared’s followed. His face turned pale as he turned to me. I turned to Emily whose jaw dropped. The looks on their faces were priceless. And just at the same time, the main door opened and Damon walked in. Louder gasps and murmurs rippled through the hall. The guest couldn’t decide what was more shocking. The sex tape playing in the background or the man walking up to me. When Damon reached me, he raised my hand and forced his ring on my finger. “Never take my ring off again, wife.” And then, he kissed me.GABRIELLE’S POV MONTHS LATER “Yes,” I moaned, arching back against him.“More, Damon.” He pushed my head down into the car seat and kept thrusting into me from behind, harder now. I screamed until my throat felt sore. The car stopped and a knock came on the partition. I stiffened and tried to move my body. Damon held me in place with one hand and moved the other down to rub my clit. “The car is soundproof. Scream louder for me, wife.” Oh, fuck! I gladly obeyed. And he kept up his pace until I came, screaming his name at the top of my lungs. When we finally finished and fixed our clothes, I sat up and realized the car had stopped in front of an unfamiliar building. Damon stepped out of the limo and opened my door for me. “My lady.” The irony of him calling me that after the way he had just fucked me almost made me laugh. My face flushed as I took his hands and came out from the car. He stepped behind me and placed his hands over my eyes. I gasped in surprise. “Where are y
GABRIELLE’S POVI sat in the living room with my phone clutched in my hand, staring at the screen even though it remained dark. The door opened and a guard rushed inside.“They’re here, ma’am,” he said, a rifle hanging from his shoulder.I stared at him, shocked. After everything that had happened tonight, my mind refused to believe it could end this way.Fiorella grabbed my arm. “Gabrielle.”I blinked and looked at her.Her eyes were bright with relief. “Go.”My legs finally moved.I rushed out of the living room and stepped outside just as four black cars drove through the gates. My heart pounded harder with every second. The cars rolled to a stop in front of the house, armed men stepping out first.I kept looking past them, searching for my children. The second car opened.Susan stepped out first with Aria sleeping in her arms.A broken sound left my throat. Lila climbed out after them holding an ice cream cone in one hand.Another man opened the door on the other side and lifted
DAMON’S POVArmed men surrounded us, but I kept my eyes on Antonio. The man beside him smiled. “I was expecting your wife to come alone, based on how she sounded on the phone.”I ignored him, still staring at Antonio.“You,” I said slowly, almost disbelievingly.Antonio gave a small shrug. “I know. You look heartbroken.”Rhys dropped the duffel bags with a loud thud. “Should’ve killed you last night at the party.”Antonio’s mouth curved faintly. “And yet here I am.”My jaw tightened.I remembered the countless nights we spent drinking together with friends and business partners at his club, Eden. The deals, the conversations, and the plans. All bullshit.“You took my children,” I said flatly.Antonio tilted his head. “It wasn’t personal at first.”“At first?” I repeated. He sighed as though I was forcing him to explain something obvious. “You started becoming a problem again. Both of you.”His eyes flicked toward Rhys.“The underworld was finally stabilizing after Rocco died,” he cont
GABRIELLE’S POVI returned to the living area and found Fiorella waiting for me.Only a few armed guards remained near the entrances while staff cleared the barely touched tea and scattered papers from the table.Fear still sat inside me as I slowly lowered myself onto the couch.Fiorella sat beside me. “Do you want me to stay with you?”I didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”She reached for my hand and held it.My gaze stayed fixed on the clock across the room, watching every second pass.Tears burned my eyes again. “I keep thinking about Lila crying on the phone.”Fiorella squeezed my hand slightly.“They won’t harm them because they’re leverage,” she said softly. “They did that to scare you into doing what they want.”A painful ache spread through my chest. “She’s just a child. She must be traumatized right now.”“I know,” she responded. “That’s why you need to pull yourself together, for their sake.”Pain twisted inside my chest.“Be strong,” she said. “Children are more resilient than we give
GABRIELLE’S POVI freshened up while Damon spoke on the phone with the forensic analysts.Fortunately, my calls were always recorded, so they were already searching for anything that could reveal a location. At this point, we were desperate enough to cling to anything. And even when Damon gives them the money, I didn’t trust them to release the girls.Damon stood by the bedroom window with his phone pressed to his ear, his expression unreadable.“Run it again,” he ordered.A brief pause followed.“You hear water?” he asked, turning toward me. “Get back to me.”Then he ended the call.I stepped closer to him. “What is it?”He ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. “They think they hear waves in the background of the call.”“Waves?”He nodded once. “Water too loud to be pipes.”Hope flared inside my chest. That narrowed things down a little.Damon picked up his jacket from the chair and reached for another phone on the table.“I went through the camera footage from the hotel, but thei
GABRIELLE’S POV My fingers tightened around the photo. Every trace of exhaustion and sadness vanished instantly. I grabbed the note again and stared at the number beneath the message, my heartbeat turning violent. No. No, this was impossible. Aiden was dead. I watched Damon bury him. Which meant this had to be someone else—or one of his associates. Cold fear crawled up my spine as I looked back at the photo. Lila looked terrified. Aria was crying in Susan’s arms while one of the masked men held a gun against Susan’s head. My children. I couldn’t breathe. Aiden’s mother was beside them, her face streaked with tears. “No,” I said, shaking my head. “This can’t be real.” I looked instinctively toward the bedroom door, my thoughts racing. Damon. I needed Damon. I turned quickly to leave the room, and on my way down, I dialed the number. They answered on the first ring. I lifted the phone to my ear. “Who is this?” A male voice came through. “You called me. Don’t you thi
GABRIELLE’S POV Damon’s eyes fell on me and I felt my breath hitch slightly. I held his gaze, waiting for him to look away first, but he didn’t. “Oh, hi Gabrielle,” Selene said, snapping the tension between us. I turned to her and managed my usual polite smile. “Hi, Selene. What were you
GABRIELLE’S POV By Christmas morning, the heat from the night before felt like a foreign memory, replaced by a tight and hollow ache in my chest that refused to loosen no matter how many times I breathed. John’s death — even though the man was a rude fuck — only reminded me how fickle life wa
GABRIELLE’S POV They didn’t stop walking until the music dulled and the laughter became distant, swallowed by a narrow corridor lined with framed photos of people. We entered a well-lit room and Cassie released my arm first. Naomi didn’t. “Do you have any idea how bad that made you look?
GABRIELLE’S POV I looked around, dread crawling up my spine. I knew if I ever got close to my sister again, either one of us might end up dead. And it would most likely be me. Mrs Raymond noticed my reaction. “It was you I saw outside, right? Emily has green eyes and you have brown. The o
