The Choice

The warning bells echoed across Blackstone.

Warriors rushed to the eastern wall as dozens of wolves emerged from the forest. At their head stood a man cloaked in black, his face hidden beneath a silver mask.

"The Shadow King's hunters," Kael growled.

"They've crossed our borders."

Miguel stepped onto the battlements beside Lynnek.

"Stay behind me."

She shook her head.

"I'm done hiding."

Before Miguel could answer, the masked leader raised a hand.

The Cursed GuardianThe Moon Eater's roar tore through the valley once more. Its massive claws crushed the remains of a siege tower, sending splintered wood and stone flying through the air. Wolves from every side—Blackstone warriors, the Shadow King's soldiers, and even the Night Council—scattered in terror. It wasn't choosing sides. It was destroying everything.Lynnek stood motionless on the shattered balcony, her heart racing as Aster's words echoed in her mind."It was once... the First Queen's own guardian wolf."She looked at the enormous beast again.Beneath the rage...Beneath the darkness...She no longer saw a monster. She saw suffering.Miguel stepped beside her."What are you thinking?"She met his eyes."I don't think we're supposed to kill it."Kael nearly choked."You've got to be kidding.""It just destroyed half the fortress!"Lynnek nodded."I know.""But if it's really the First Queen's guardian...""Then someone turned it into this."Cassian folded his arms."You

The Moon EaterThe roar shook the mountain. It was so powerful that cracks spread through the shrine floor, and chunks of stone crashed from the ceiling. Every wolf present felt an instinctive wave of fear.Even Miguel's wolf whimpered.Lynnek pressed a hand against her chest as the newly formed bond between her and Miguel pulsed painfully."What... was that?" she asked.Aster's normally calm expression turned grim."The Moon Eater."His voice carried an unease that no one had heard before."It should have remained imprisoned forever."Outside the shrine, another roar echoed through the valley. This one was closer.---Cassian looked toward the broken entrance."We don't have much time."Kael frowned."What exactly is the Moon Eater?"Evelyn answered before Cassian could."I've read about it."Her voice trembled."It isn't a wolf.""It was created during the First Moon War."Everyone turned to her."The Night Council experimented with forbidden Moon magic, trying to create a creature

The King's ConfessionThe chamber erupted into chaos.Orion's black flames spiraled through the sacred shrine, swallowing the silver light that had filled the room moments earlier. The ancient walls groaned as more cracks spread across the ceiling.Large pieces of stone crashed onto the floor.Dust filled the air."The shrine is collapsing!" Evelyn shouted.Aster stood unmoving between Orion and the others. His silver sword glowed brighter with every passing second."The Heart of the Moon rejects corrupted magic."Orion laughed, though there was madness behind it now."Then I'll bury it forever!"He thrust both hands forward.Dark energy rushed toward the altar.Aster disappeared in a flash of silver. The collision of their powers shook the mountain. For several seconds, neither warrior moved. Then—A shockwave exploded through the chamber.Kael shielded Lynnek as broken stone flew in every direction. When the dust settled, Aster stood exactly where he had been.Orion, however, had be

: The Rite of the First MoonMiguel crashed into the ancient pillar with a sickening force. The impact echoed through the collapsing shrine.A crack splintered across the stone behind him before the pillar gave way, burying the Alpha beneath broken rocks."Lynnek..." Kael shouted. She didn't hear him.Her entire world narrowed to one thing."Miguel!"Ignoring the chunks of stone falling from the ceiling, she ran toward him. Her knees slammed against the hard floor as she reached his side.Blood stained the front of his black shirt. His breathing was shallow. His normally bright blue eyes were clouded with pain."Miguel..."Her voice broke. He managed a weak smile."You... always did have terrible timing."A tear rolled down her cheek."Don't joke.""You promised you'd always come back to me."He slowly lifted a trembling hand and cupped her face."And I did.""I found you."His hand slipped.Lynnek caught it before it could fall."No.""No, you're not leaving me.""You can't."---Acr

The Guardian of the First MoonThe entire mountain trembled.A deafening roar echoed from somewhere deep beneath the shrine, so powerful that dust rained from the ceiling and cracks raced across the ancient walls.Everyone froze.Even Orion's triumphant smile disappeared."What...?" he whispered. The pillar of silver moonlight surrounding Lynnek and Miguel intensified, forcing the Eclipse Guard to retreat several steps. Their rune-etched weapons vibrated violently, as if resisting the sacred energy.Queen Selene's fading spirit looked toward the floor beneath them."It has awakened."Kael tightened his grip on his sword."What exactly has awakened?"The Shadow King answered, though his voice carried both awe and fear."The Guardian of the First Moon."---The shrine shook again. This time, the floor split apart with a thunderous crack.A blinding silver light erupted from the chasm, forcing everyone to shield their eyes.A massive stone platform slowly rose from the depths of the moun

The Guardian's ChoiceThe chamber fell into a tense silence.Orion's pale blue eyes were fixed on the glowing pendant in Lynnek's trembling hand. The warm silver light illuminated the room, reflecting off the polished stone floor. For the first time since she had met him, the High Chancellor looked shaken."No..." he murmured, taking an involuntary step back. "The Queen's Blessing was supposed to have disappeared with the Moonfang bloodline."Commander Darius immediately stepped in front of Orion, drawing both of his rune-etched swords."My Chancellor, allow me to eliminate her.""No!" Orion snapped.Darius hesitated.Orion slowly regained his composure, smoothing the front of his silver cloak."She must remain alive."He looked directly at Lynnek."The blessing chooses only one heir.""If she dies before the ritual...""The blessing dies with her."Lynnek tightened her grip around the pendant."So that's why you've been chasing me.""It was never about making me Queen."Orion smiled
