Chapter Three I didn't expect you to be scared of l me

We walk through the forest in the dark cold night, Erin made sure I covered myself properly to avoid catching cold and we have a lantern with us to be able to see in the dark

One year has pass so quickly, agreeing to live here with the vampires wasn't a bad idea at all.. they have been so kind to me and I got along pretty well with them all

In this past months I've lived with them, I noticed they also eats normal food sometimes and not only blood

Last weak was my fifteenth birthday, I celebrated it in grand way thanks to master Douglas.

He organised a big feast just to celebrate my birthday and everyone enjoyed themselves that day... that was one of my happy days. I enjoyed myself to the fullest

I don't know why they are so kind to me but I've learn to trust them. They are like family to me especially Erin, I am much closer to her and I love her so much

I don't lack anything here, master Douglas makes sure I get anything I want. Am happy staying with the vampires... I really am

"You look so beautiful" Erin did say that day after dressing me up in a beautiful dress and ornaments. I smile and turn away from the mirror to face

"Thank you Erin.. for everything, for always being there for me. You are trying all your best to make sure I don't feel lonely after my parents death" I said feeling a bit emotional

I feel loved today which is my fifteen birthday thanks to Erin, she takes care of me as if she is my mother. Of course she can be a mother to me, though she is still young in the face and body because she is a vampire and they have long span life but she is actually old, she would have had her second or third generation if she were to be a human

"I love you Erin, I haven't tell you this but am telling you today and I mean it" I mumble not being able to control the tears that fell freely from my eyes

Erin smile tearfully and slowly wipe away my tears with her thumb

"I love you too Alexis, am glad you came into my life. You made me feel what it is to take care of someone and at a time,I felt like a mother" she couldn't control her tears either

"Listen Alexis, even if I changes one day or everything changes from the way it is now.. just know one thing, I love you and my love is sincere" she add and hug me

I don't know what she means by that, why will she change. Well I didn't put much meaning into it because I know that Erin will always be good to me

That day master Douglas couldn't take his eyes off me and I wonders why. He wished me a happy birthday and present a gift to me, we hardly speaks but I think we do that more often through our eyes

Three days after my birthday, master Douglas and Jed left the clan and as usual that will be a business as Erin always say

And today, this night, as the vampires always do.. they are out for their hunt. I begged Erin to allow me go with them because she always leaves me behind saying that it is dangerous in the forest

But am tired of always staying by myself whenever that she's gone with others though she doesn't go every night so that she can be with me

She refused at first but after constant begging from me, she inclined

"You know I can't say no to you" she said and I chuckle. Erin always give me anything I want no matter what it could be

She said she's allowing me to go with them because master Douglas is not around and we won't spend much time in the forest because no one knows, he might be back anytime soon

"Thank you so much Erin" I giggle and hug her and she accepted me warmly with a smile

"Be careful Alexis" she said as I wanted to trip off when I stepped on a small stone that was on he ground.she caught me before I can fall

"Thanks" I mumble and maintain my balance before she let go of me

"Alexis, Erin, I want to go with you guys" the little girl Ava said with her tinny voice approaching us

She is fond of me and I love her too, she is fun to be with and very happy and cheerful child

"Where is your mother Ava?" I ask squatting to her level and stroke her hair playfully which made her to giggle, she loves that whenever I do it on her

"You shouldn't be out here Ava, you are still small" Erin said

"But I want to feed myself" Ava said innocently and I chuckle not excluding Erin. Her power is still small to hunt but the little seems not to understand

"No Ava, those animals are dangerous and your power is still small... it hasn't develop yet. Your mother will bring some blood for you after the hunt" Erin tries explaining to the little girl's understanding

"Ava!Ava!" a woman squeal searching around. She is Ava's mother and she is kind and generous from the little time I've known her

"Mum!" Ava squeak in her tiny voice and run towards her mother who open her arms to accept her

"How can you let Ava out by herself Mrs Nathan?" Erin ask

"I didn't know when she left from my watch.. it was my mistake, I will take her back now" Mrs Nathan replied

"No mum, I don't want to go back. I want to be with Alexis to hunt for the night"

"Come on dear, you have to go with your mom okay... I will bring you to the forest some other time, I promise" luckily I was able to trick the little girl and she believed my lies and left with her mother

"She is really fun to be with" I said as we continue with the hunt

"That's children for you" Erin cuts in but then she makes a swift turn to a direction and her speed was so fast.. I couldn't see her properly cos of her fast speed as she dash towards the animal that is trying to run for it's life and without wasting time, she caught the animal

I gasp as she release her fang and deep it inside the animal's neck making a cut there and sucking it's blood. This is my first time seeing Erin like this since one year that I've known her

Yes, I know that vampires drinks blood but I haven't seen them with my eyes

This could also be the reason why she doesn't want me to come to the hunt with her so I won't see something like this. My body is tense right now after witnessing how she sucked the life out out that poor animal which I doesn't know it's name. I don't think I've seen such animal before but it small and ugly, though not that small just that it is not big like a lion

She threw the animals dead body and turn to face, I didn't know when I flinch looking at her bloody mouth

Her eyes were on me and they are pure red with her fangs still out. I know that Erin can never hurt me but right now am helplessly scared looking at her bloody eyes

I gulp down in fear and move back as she walks slowly towards me. I loose my balance as I step on something and fall down thereby hurting my foot

"Alexis!" she call out and I can see the worries in her tone

"Ahh" I grunt in pain holding the injure part on my foot

"Becareful Alexis" she said and squat before me, she gather some dry leaves and use it to clean the blood stains on her body before putting her attention on me

She tries touching me but I quickly withdraw my leg, I don't know why am being unnecessarily scared now. She stare up at with a disappointment look

"I didn't expect you to be scared of me because of what you saw, I thought you have learn to trust me.... You have lived with us for one year and none of us has ever tried to hurt you and we can't hurt you either" I kind of felt guilty hearing her words, I shouldn't have acted this way

"I can never hurt you Alexis no matter the state I will be at that moment... know that from now on, I hope you won't be scared of me again not even for a second" she add

"Am sorry" I mumble regretting my action immediately

"Is okay... come one let's look at your foot" she cuts in giving me an assuring smile and grab my foot but in a gentle way. She shut her eyes and gulp down as if she is trying to quench something immediately her eyes caught the blood on my foot

"I can do it myself Erin " I said, Am sure she is trying to suppress her thirst looking at my blood

"Stay still, I can handle it... trust me" she replied and tear out a piece of clothe from her dress using it to tie my injured foot

"Do you vampires drink human blood?" I ask breaking the silence that erupted us while she takes care of my foot

"I don't know of other vampires but we drinks animal blood" she replied as she finished tying up my foot

"Thanks " I show my gratitude and she simply nod her head. She helps me to stand on my feet

"Other vampires, I thought this is the only vampire's clan" I ask trying to continue our conversation, I am leaning on her as we walk

"There are some vampires who do not belong to any clan, they are rogues who wanders about and some times they will fall a prey to the witch or other creatures becoming a tool for them

Those vampires are the ones that kills and drinks human blood, they are brutal, dangerous and wicked

Though for us, we sometimes drink human blood because vampires gets one kind special strength from humans blood than animal blood

Especially our master, he drinks human blood and that is one of the reasons he is so strong, though that's not the only reason because he is the descendant of the great powerful vampire in the history, that is why he is so strong more than all the vampires I know " she carefully explain

"Since you people drinks human blood, why haven't any of you drink my blood. I lived with you vampires but no one has tried making an attemt to take my blood" I said. Though I trust Erin not to drink my blood, what of others

"No will dare take your blood because you are specially brought here by Master and you are also a good human, we only drink the blood of evil people" she cuts in

"But how do you know if someone is evil or not, I mean..."

"Enough of the questions already, come on, we need to go home now" she cuts me off but her body becomes tensed immediately as she quickly drift her eyes to a direction

"Is there a problem?" I ask noticing her sudden reaction. I searched around to know if I can see any animal close by but I can't see any

"This place is not safe anymore, come on quickly, we need to go back"she rush out her words and keep her back for me.... Is she trying to piggyback me

"Get on my back immediately Alexis, we need to leave here. You can't walk fast owing to your injured foot", she beckons me and I obeyed her immediately... She sounded serious and there night be a danger lurking around as she said
