Chapter 2

Author: A Pot of Butter
"Serves you right for bossing us around every day!"

With a heavy thud, I threw my bag to the floor and stormed out, slamming the door behind me.

Justin's smile froze on his face.

Someone whispered, "Did Cassidy… cry?"

Justin frowned, staring after me.

I splashed water on my face in the bathroom, wiping away the streaks of tears.

I told myself it was fine as I looked at myself in the mirror. So what if I gave the admission ticket away? Priscilla can keep it for all I care.

I could just apply for a replacement ticket. I still had time.

However, when I walked back into the classroom, the first thing I heard was the sound of cards shuffling.

I rushed in, only to find my classmates huddled in a circle. They were using the admission tickets as a replacement for playing cards.

The game was so intense that a few tickets slipped to the floor, and no one even cared.

"Priscilla's idea is brilliant. There are 54 of us. It's enough for a deck of cards!"

"The school banned playing cards, and Cassidy watches us like a hawk. Luckily for us, the admission tickets are with Priscilla for safekeeping. What is she gonna do now? Confiscate them? Hah!"

"I'm playing this one! Who's going for it?"

"I will! I've got Justin in my hand!"

"Then, I'll play Priscilla!"

Admission tickets were being smacked onto the desk one after another. Yet, the moment they saw me, the smiles on their faces were replaced by frowns.

"What are you staring at? Are you gonna tell us the admission tickets are banned too?"

"The exam's in two days, and you guys aren't even bothered to do your revisions?" I asked, slightly confused.

They just sneered at my question.

"What's there to be afraid of? Didn't you already say you'd give us exam predictions?"

I froze.

In my past life, I stayed up all night poring over years of exam questions. They didn't even care about my predictions. In fact, I had to beg them to study.

So, they did know how important this was, eh?

Priscilla's eyes sparkled with mischief as she threw my ticket onto the pile. "I play Cassidy. Who dares to beat her?"

"Cassidy?"

Everyone's attention snapped back to the game.

"I play Jonathan Hugh!"

"Even the underdog dares to challenge Cassidy? Please."

"Cassidy, huh?" Someone else clicked their tongue. "I guess anyone can just do her."

"Oooh… is that an innuendo I hear? Then, I'll play Ricky Lowe!"

"I choose Zachary Smith!"

One after another, everyone started slapping the admission tickets in their hands on the table. Meanwhile, the boys being "played" groaned in annoyance.

"Hey! I don't want to do her! That's gross!"

The whole class roared with laughter.

Hearing this, Priscilla covered her mouth dramatically and added, "Oh, stop, you guys. An eavesdropper might think you're talking about some prostitute."

A loud smack echoed in the classroom as my palm struck across her face.

At that moment, Justin just came back from looking for me, just in time to witness the scene. He grabbed my wrist hard. "Cassidy Ford! What the heck are you doing?"

Immediately, everyone shouted over each other, accusing me of being jealous of Priscilla holding the admission tickets.

I pointed to the pile of admission tickets scattered across the desk. "Justin Kylemark! They played my card like I was an easy woman who would do anyone! Am I supposed to smile and congratulate them for a game well-played?"

Even Justin, however clueless he may be, couldn't ignore the thick stack piled over my admission ticket.

"Justin, it was just a joke…" Priscilla's voice softened as she tugged gently at his sleeve.

However, when he looked at me—with my eyes burning red—his breath caught. For the first time, he didn't take Priscilla's side.

"Put them away," he ordered.

"Eh? But Justin—"

"I said put them away!" he roared, cutting her off.

Seeing his deep frown, everyone kept their mouths shut and gathered up the admission tickets.

He turned back to me as if wanting to explain something. However, I had already snatched my bag and walked out without looking back.

I didn't return to school, but Priscilla still made sure I saw what happened next.

In a private room, the whole class celebrated their so-called "freedom" from the class representative's supervision. They called it a pre-exam relaxation party.

Justin draped an arm over Priscilla's shoulder, grinning as the literature committee member, Marvin Hancock, teased.

"Come on, admit it. You told Priscilla to put the admission tickets away earlier because you were trying to support Cassidy, weren't you?"

The room erupted in cheers.

Under everyone's gaze, Justin tore my admission ticket in half. Then, with a smile, he turned to Priscilla and asked, "Do you believe me now, my princess?"

"Bold move, Justin!"

"Justin and Priscilla—perfect couple right here!"

I only had to wait for the college admissions day.On that day, my name was displayed on Northwich University's list of accepted applicants."She must be cheating!" someone exclaimed.Following that, an online uproar ignited against me. Priscilla led the charge without mercy. She dug up every scrap of proof that I hadn't entered the exam hall and raged across the internet."How can someone who didn't even take the exam get into Northwich University? I checked. Our school didn't have any students who were taken in through special admission!"My classmates came to her support, all confirming that I'd been surrounded by them when the exam started, and that it was impossible for me to take the exam.Their corroborated testimony looked eerily like the false alibis they'd given in my past life after I was deemed the top scorer. They had taken leave just to return from the various colleges they went to and testify that I'd been cheating.…This time, though, things were different. My

I ignored the insults. Instead, I tore open a postal package. The shipping label showed the date clearly. It was sent before the SAT.Inside was a set of test papers. They were my exam predictions. Then, I pulled out Priscilla's version of the exam predictions that she shared in the group chat and laid them side by side.It didn't take long for the viewers to notice something was off."Wait! These questions in the postal package are almost identical to the actual exam! The predictions were spot on!""What's up with the ones Priscilla sent? Were those real, or just traps? They somehow missed the entire scope of the exam."'"These two sets of papers complement each other a little too well…"But soon, people started to push back."Come on, the exam's already over. Of course Cassidy can pretend to have predicted everything. It's not that hard.""Are you blind? That's an official postal package! The timestamp is court-admissible evidence!""Holy crap… So Cassidy really did predic

"Get out of my way! I'm going to burn that bitch alive!" The boy with the shortest fuse in the class sprinted forward with a lighter in his hand. However, the police arrived just in time. Fully armed, they took control of the scene and pinned down the rowdy ones in the crowd.By then, Priscilla's face was swollen and bruised. She could barely stand without someone supporting her.The students and parents who'd been restrained still hurled curses at her."Priscilla! We won't let you off!""We'll get you whenever we see you!"I walked past her. She already had one tooth missing, but she still sneered at me through split lips."You think you won? You might have cleared your name, but you won't be taking the exam either." She burst out laughing. "You would've been a top-scorer. If I flunk the exam, so be it. But Cassidy, your future is ruined thanks to me!"I was unbothered. I shook my head and smiled. "Too bad. I've already been offered a spot in Northwich University."My words d

More importantly, her plan would fall apart…"Priscilla, stop dawdling! Go now!"She had no choice. She shuffled over to the administration counter, slow and reluctant."Where's your ID?" the clerk asked, squinting.Priscilla patted every pocket. Then, she spun and pointed at me. "I remember now! Cassidy took my ID!"Hands shot out and grabbed me. "Hand over Priscilla's ID this instant!"I struggled with all my strength. "Are you crazy? How would her ID be on me?"Priscilla's eyes reddened. "Cassidy… I know you've always been jealous of me and Justin. But this is the SAT! We're talking about our futures. Please stop messing around. "If you just hand my ID back… I'll… I'll stop going after Justin, okay?"Justin seized my collar. "Cassidy! Give it back right now!"Blood still coated my tongue. I spat a mouthful onto Justin's face. "I didn't take it!"Gaston slapped me across my face, barking angrily, "Everyone, search her! The ID has to be on this bitch!""What are you doing

Ever since I had been reborn, I've been on guard, afraid this bunch would try to frame me again. That was why I always left evidence behind wherever I went.I had indeed met Priscilla last night, but it was nothing more than passing by her on the street. The video showed her squatting by the river, shaking out every admission ticket and revision notes from her backpack straight into the river."Bunch of idiots. I wasn't gonna get into college anyway, so who cares whether the admission tickets are gone? If all of you fail with me, that'd be a win for me."Off-screen, a man's voice asked, "Your classmates have been nothing but good to you. Should you really do this to them?""They're just some nerds. They are only helpful when they let me copy their answers in exams. If they wanna treat me like their favourite, then fine. If I can't get into college, they'll all flunk with me. "That's how they should treat their favourite, isn't it?"The class stared at the recording, their eyes

Ten minutes later, Priscilla's bag had been turned inside out, but the admission tickets were still nowhere to be found."You didn't really lose them, did you?"Gaston was the first to snap. He grabbed the bag and tore through every pocket. "What the heck? You really lost them? How's that possible?"The others surged forward. They only ransacked the bag but even pat down Priscilla from head to toe."Priscilla, you promised to take care of them! Where are the tickets? All 54 of them are gone?""I… I…" Priscilla hugged herself, looking as pitiful as ever, but this time, no one treated her like the group favourite."Either you find those tickets right now, or we're taking you straight to the police!"One of the girls broke down sobbing, crouched on the ground. "If only we'd let Cassidy keep them! She's always responsible. She never would've let this happen!"Even Justin stepped forward, his expression conflicted. "Priscilla, think carefully. If you left them at home, there's still
