Brielle's POV

The Alps were incredibly quiet for a break-in that just happened hours back. Only the whoosh of the wind moving through endless white mountains, and the slow creak of wooden beams drifted through the atmosphere.

However, that wasn't what was on my mind right now.

I had something more strategic in mind.

The chalet.

It was at the mountainside, surrounded by towering pines buried under thick covering of snow. From a distance, it looked like something out of a magazine, with warm ligh

  • After He Took It All   Did He Just Betray Us?

Brielle’s POVEverything went quiet immediately after the authorization was completed.Heavy, with a laced suffocating tension as my body slowly felt weightless—and at the same time, unbearably heavy.Pain still bore through my veins like thousands of needles, my hand trembling uncontrollably as Axel held me against him. His voice sounded distant, like I was hearing him underwater.“What happened to her?”I wanted to answer.I wanted to tell him I was fine. But my lips barely even moved.“System shock,” the chairman said somewhere behind us. “Her body just went through forced extraction and neural synchronization. It’s…expected.”Expected?I would’ve laughed if I had the strength.Axel tightened his grip on me, his hand pressing against the back of my head like he was trying to shield me from everything—including my own self.“Fix it,” he snapped.“There’s nothing to fix,” the chairman replied. “She needs time.”Time.But we didn’t have time. After what felt like an hour, my eyes fina

  • After He Took It All   Authorisation Complete

Axel’s POV“Perimeter sensors start about thirty meters out,” my father muttered under his breath, crouching slightly as he studied the ground ahead. “Thermal grids are layered over motion detection.”Alexei leaned in beside me. “And…what does that mean?”“Don’t breathe too hard in this place,” I said flatly.“Ah,” he nodded. “Excellent. My specialty.”Brielle didn’t look back at either of us. Her eyes were locked on the pyramid, her glance sharp and focused, as if waiting for something out of the ordinary to move.“Path?” she asked. My father pointed towards a barely visible dip in the terrain, the bob in the throat moving as he didn't look away, “There. The blind spot. Twelve-second window between sweeps.”“Twelve?” Alexei repeated. “Generous.”“It used to be eight.” He confessed.“That does not help.” He frowned.I ignored them, and focused on the situation. “On my mark,” I said under my breath, in hopes of calming every aching nerves.Get set.I nodded to their waiting faces and i

  • After He Took It All   Bring Everything Down

Brielle’s POVThe jungle might have been the worst suggestion I'd come up with…The moment our boots hit the ground, the smell of rain and rot wrapped tightly around my throat. It was thick, and worse, suffocating as every breath felt heavier than the last.I didn’t like it.Not because it was nature. But because something else was unnatural about this place, I just couldn't figure it out yet.“Remind me,” Alexei muttered behind me, swatting at something invisible near his neck, “why we couldn’t just bomb this place from orbit?”“Because we need the core intact long enough to shut it down,” I replied without looking back.“And because you’d probably miss,” Axel added flatly.“I do not miss,” Alexei gave a dramatic scoff and glared at Axel for explanation, but I simply ignored them.Because ahead of us, the chairman was slowing down yet again. His movements were far from steady—and looked too careful in the first three steps, then too rushed in others that came after. The bandages arou

  • After He Took It All   The Suicide Mission Is A Go

Alexei’s POVI knew something was wrong the second Axel called. Not because of what he was eventually going to say. Oh no no no! It was always about the parts he always wasn't going to say.Axel was not a man who randomly chose to call at two in the morning. And when he did, it always meant one thing—and one thing alone.“Get here. Now.”“Good morning to you, Axel.” But the line was already disconnected before I questioned anything further. So naturally, with a long deep breath of regrets and worry, I arrived armed. Not with guns. Oh, no no—you see, that wasn't my style at all. Instead, I came armed with vodka. I stepped into the house twenty minutes later, shrugging snow off my coat as the door closed behind me.“Alright,” I said casually, letting out an exhale as I stared down at my floor, braced up for the news. “Who died?”But when no one laughed or bothered to welcome me sarcastically like they'd always done, that was already the first warning bell going off in my head. But unf

  • After He Took It All    Putting The Chairman On A Collar, Literally

Axel’s POVFor a full minute, no one moved in the room. Not when our eyes were locked on the one thing in front of us.A pool of dark red colour pooled around my dad's shirt fast, and the unmistakable smell of iron and sweat wafted through the room in a swift. The sight of him standing there—bleeding, shaking, barely standing upright—should have satisfied something deep inside me.I mean, for years, I imagined seeing him weak. Broken. Begging. But now that it was actually happening, all I felt was a sick knot twisting in my stomach.Because monsters like him crawled out of his hell if there was an even bigger hell than theirs—and unless something worse was chasing them. So, with that, I swallowed back my emotions and stayed firm on not pulling back my gun already pointed on his chest.“Don’t move,” I warned coldly through my teeth. The chairman let out a weak huff that might have been a laugh, if not for the blood dripping down his lips now.“As if I could.” He muttered under his brea

  • After He Took It All   Confrontation With A Surprise

Brielle’s POVThe first thing I did was close the laptop. The click echoed louder than it should have, snapping another round of tension between the both of us.And for a few more seconds, neither of us spoke.I could feel Axel standing behind me. I didn’t have to turn around to know the exact expression on his face—his clenching jaws, the storm brewing behind his eyes, his trembling lips that meant he was stuck between lying and telling the truth. My fingers curled slowly against the desk as a wave of anger and disappointment crashed over me.God. Not this over all again.I had spent months convincing myself things were different now. That the man behind me had changed. That the secrets, the manipulation, the careful games were all behind us. Heck, I believed Axel changed..Apparently, I was wrong.I turned around slowly to face him properly. And just doing that alone already made him so tense that he held back a breath before speaking.“Brielle—”“Don’t.” The word came out sharper t

  • After He Took It All   Finding The Ghost Company And The Bomb

Brielle's POVWeeks had passed, and the apartment was starting to feel less like a safe house and more like a prison library. I hadn't seen daylight that wasn't filtered through a tiny window in ages. The only things that mattered were German corporate law, dry financial statements, and the red bi

Axel's POVThe office felt like a cage, even with the floor-to-ceiling glass that usually gave me a commanding view of the city. Now, all I saw were possible escape routes. • After He Took It All   The Morning Appointment

Brielle's POVThis hospital room was pretty much home now. That felt both safe and totally sad. I’d fallen asleep in that ugly vinyl armchair by Dad’s bed. I woke up every two hours to check the machines and tell him something new about corporate finance. It sounds crazy, I know, but I felt like i

  • After He Took It All   They Are Watching, Even Here

Brielle's POVI was leaning against the cold wall in the hallway, trying not to sob. The shame was suffocating.
