Chapter 3: Let's Do It Now

She would not allow Daniel Faulkner to use the money he earned with her help to support another woman.

"Impossible." Daniel Faulkner coldly refused.

Sheila Oscar laughed, "Impossible?"

"Young Master, you must have a lot on your mind and forgotten that you promised me you would leave with nothing."

"Before the divorce certificate is in hand, we need to settle the assets. The divorce cooling-off period still has one month left. How do I know if you won't transfer the assets during this time?"

With three consecutive questions, she successfully made Daniel Faulkner's face turn dark.

"Do you think I would go back on my word for what I promised you?"

"You also promised Grandma that you would spend your life with me. Now, aren't you going back on that promise, seeking out your 'true love'?"

Sheila Oscar's words hit home, leaving Daniel Faulkner speechless.

After a while, he said, "Let's do it another day."

"No, let's do it now," Sheila Oscar insisted.

A hint of impatience appeared between Daniel Faulkner's brows. "I don't have time today."

"No time?" Sheila Oscar looked him up and down, smiling. "Dressed so neatly at home, are you planning to meet someone secretly?"

Daniel Faulkner turned around. "Sheila Oscar, your words are harsh."

Sheila Oscar shrugged indifferently. "What you did during our marriage was even more shameful. Why can't I speak harshly?"

Pausing, she added, "Daniel Faulkner, no matter how far things have progressed between you and Dorothy Bacon, please do not spread any rumors about her or end up in her bed before we are divorced."

"Because I find it disgusting."

Her eyes, bright and clear, emitted a cold and lonely emotion.

The sense of unfamiliarity washed over him again, and Daniel Faulkner's gaze darkened. But before he could say anything, Sheila Oscar spoke again, "Let's go, right now, to the bank."

"I don't want to argue with you anymore, but as you said, I can set any conditions for the divorce. I've set them, and I hope you will fulfill them."

Daniel Faulkner watched as Sheila Oscar put on her coat, pondered for a moment, and then went out to make a phone call.

The sobbing on the other end was quite loud, and Sheila Oscar caught the gist of it.

It was no different from Dorothy Bacon expressing her disappointment at being stood up.

Sheila Oscar looked up at the ceiling.

Disappointment?

Who isn't disappointed?

Being cheated on, having her marriage destroyed, and facing a divorce—shouldn't she be the one who is truly disappointed?

After a brief moment, Sheila Oscar went out to find Daniel Faulkner, expressionless, and snatched his phone, saying into the receiver, "Ms Bacon, don't be in such a hurry to feel wronged. You'll have plenty of time to act cute with my ex-husband in the future."

Then, she hung up the call.

"Shi... Yan!"

Daniel Faulkner's jaw tightened, and the name that came out through gritted teeth carried a dangerous warning.

It seemed that all those years of her being gentle and virtuous were just an act, and a very good one at that.

But Sheila Oscar ignored him, simply tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and said coolly, "Ex-husband, there's no need to show off in front of me. Grandma once broke us up once, and it might happen again. If you want to marry Dorothy Bacon properly, you might still need my help. So, are you sure you want to talk to me in that tone?"

She half-lifted her eyelids, her beautiful fox-like eyes glancing at him, half-tempting, half-teasing.

The unintentional allure in her demeanor left Daniel Faulkner momentarily stunned.

"You..."

Before he could finish, the seductive face in front of him turned soft and harmless, smiling innocently.

"Let's go, ex-husband."

Hearing her call him "ex-husband" repeatedly, Daniel Faulkner felt like a stone was stuffed in his heart, making him feel powerless and suffocated.

Putting away his phone, he went to the bank with Sheila Oscar.

As members of the elite in the capital, they were immediately escorted to a VIP room by the manager upon their arrival.

Sheila Oscar didn't beat around the bush and directly stated their purpose, leaving the manager dumbfounded, instinctively looking at Daniel Faulkner.

"Listen to her," Daniel Faulkner said, his face ashen.

How had he never noticed her greed before?

Still, the manager hesitated.

Sheila Oscar smiled. "What are you hesitating about? It's only natural for the party at fault to compensate the victim."
