Alejandro’s POV

I kept the name behind my teeth. It had followed me from the first anchor, through the Guardian's warning, into the silence between one heartbeat and the next. I understood now why the warning had been so precise. "Do not speak what you remember."

The word was not merely a name. It was a key. And Malachai wanted the door it opened. I looked through the aircraft window at the supernatural gathering beyond Haven's wards.

  • The Haven Of Shadows    Malachai's Interference

Alejandro I connected the Aegis core to Koa's shadow network. “Koa. Can you isolate the six anchor responses?”“I can try.”“Don't try. Do it.” There was no response from him and then one word, “Working.” The symbols began separating. The six-point pattern that had once looked like a complete structure now resembled something like a network under pressure. A containment design being pulled in the wrong direction. Aegis displayed a warning.STRUCTURAL POLARITY SHIFTMy pulse quickened. “What's that mean?”Asterion looked at the display. “The pattern is being inverted.”Inferno corrected him. “Not yet.” I looked at the dark figure beyond Haven. Malachai had his hand raised. The six beams were no longer pointing toward the mountain. They were bending around it. “Then why is he trying to invert the structure.”Inferno's answer was quiet. “ To open what the first seal was built to contain.”The world seemed too narrow. The Hollow Arc.Malachai wasn't trying to take the name anymore. He

Alejandro’s POVI kept the name behind my teeth. It had followed me from the first anchor, through the Guardian's warning, into the silence between one heartbeat and the next. I understood now why the warning had been so precise. "Do not speak what you remember." The word was not merely a name. It was a key. And Malachai wanted the door it opened. I looked through the aircraft window at the supernatural gathering beyond Haven's wards. The veil created by the witches and warlocks still covered the mountain, concealing hundreds of supernatural beings from the human world below. Wolves stood beside vampires. Witches watched rogues. Warlocks kept their distance from creatures who would normally never stand together without bloodshed.None crossed the invisible boundary around Haven. They knew better. Inferno's wards were not a wall that could be negotiated with. They were a sentence. Malachai stood beyond them. He had brought something else with him.The figures surrounding him looked l

Alejandro That explained the corporate acquisitions. The private contractors. The surveillance networks. The governments. The communications. Malachai didn't control the anchors. He was building a human infrastructure around them so he could observe every response. He was mapping the supernatural world as it reacted to me. I sighed, “He's watching.”“Yes.”“Then he knows we're here.”The Guardian looked upward. “He has always known.”The aircraft suddenly shook. Koa's voice came through the communicator. “Alejandro, I'm getting movement from the anchor.”The Guardian's eyes brightened. “Leave.”I frowned. “Why?”“Your presence has been recorded.”Asterion's expression changed. “Recorded by whom?”The Guardian didn't answer. Inferno did. 'By the structure itself.' The aircraft lurched. The field around us vanished. We dropped several meters before the engines roared back to life.Lucien grabbed the nearest seat. Koa swore over the communicator. “I have control again.”I looked down. T

  • The Haven Of Shadows    The First Guardian

Alejandro’s POVThe thing beneath us opened its eyes. For several seconds, I couldn't make sense of what I was seeing. It was enormous, yet it had no body in any conventional sense. A translucent figure rose from the column of energy beneath the aircraft, its form shifting with every pulse of light. At one moment, it resembled a wolf. Then a man. Then something older than either, something whose shape belonged to an age before the supernatural races had divided themselves into names and bloodlines. Ancient symbols moved beneath its transparent surface. The aircraft alarms screamed. Koa's voice burst through the communicator. “Alejandro, get away from that thing.”“I'm trying.”“You're not moving.”“I noticed.” The aircraft had stopped responding. We weren't falling neither were we flying. We simply hung there.Lucien moved toward the cockpit and studied the instruments. “Nothing?”“Nothing,” Koa answered. “The controls are dead.”Asterion stepped beside me. “Don't fight it.”I glanced

  • The Haven Of Shadows    Distribution Of Duties

Alejandro Eamon's voice came through the communicator. “I'll maintain the connection from Haven.”Koa raised his hand. “I'll coordinate the readings.”“You're staying here.” He stared at me. “You're sending the Gamma and the ancient vampire but keeping the person who understands the technology here?”“Yes.”“That feels personally insulting.”“It is strategically necessary.”He sighed. “Fine.”I turned to Zenith. She already knew what I was going to say. “You stay here.”Her eyes narrowed. “With Caelan.”“Yes.”“And if something happens?”“You activate the Haven's inner defenses.”“And if something happens to you?”I reached for her free hand. “You'll know.”She held my gaze. “I don't like this.”“Neither do I.”She looked down at Caelan. A tiny hand moved against her chest. For one heartbeat, Caelan opened his eyes. The six signals on Koa's tablet flickered. Then stabilized. Inferno went completely still. 'I felt his attention sharpen. The child heard them.' I looked at Caelan. “What

  • The Haven Of Shadows    The Six Anchors

Alejandro’s POV“Where do we begin?” The question came from the elderly wolf who had spoken for the gathering. For a moment, nobody moved. The valley remained hidden beneath the witches' veil, its supernatural occupants invisible to the human world beyond it. Haven stood behind us, untouched and impenetrable, its invisible wards marking a boundary nobody here had dared cross.I looked at the faces surrounding me. Wolves stood beside vampires. Rogues stood among witches and warlocks. Centuries of hatred had not vanished, but something had changed. They were listening. I glanced at Koa. He was still studying the six signals on his tablet. “We begin with information.”The vampire frowned. “We already know where the anchors are.” “No.” I took the tablet from Koa. “We know where the responses are coming from. That isn't the same thing as knowing what the anchors are.”Eamon nodded. “Exactly.”The elderly wolf looked between us. “Then what are they?” Asterion opened his mouth. Inferno stir

  • The Haven Of Shadows    On The Verge Of Snapping

Alejandro’s POVI know what fire smells like. It is in the air when Zenith is close. Thick, sweet, and maddening. The scent of blooming desire, unfiltered and raw, clings to her like wild jasmine and warm honey, and the longer she stays wrapped around me like that, the more I feel like I am slowly

  • The Haven Of Shadows    Plotting Nevada

Zenith's POVI swear I am not obsessed. I am just… committed, a little bit more thorough and highly efficient. Just like any good student.Okay, fine, maybe I am just a tad bit too desperate. But after that kiss... that all consuming kiss, I knew I had crossed the line from mildly curious to fully

  • The Haven Of Shadows    Held Back by Fire

Alejandro's POVI close the door quietly behind me. Her scent still lingers in the air, soft vanilla, a hint of jasmine, and something else…something wilder now that the seal is broken. The sweet magic of the healer's bloodline. The pull between us has only intensified, like a taut string pulled ne

  • The Haven Of Shadows    Don't Fan A Fire......

Zenith’s POVIt has been three days since we have both officially been home, together, every minute of every hour, breathing the same air, moving around each other like orbiting stars. And yet... Alejandro still feels distant sometimes. Like he is holding something back. Like there is a wall I cann
