ALINA'S POV

This was my chance.

By some miracle, Gomes had agreed to showing me around his company. I didn't know why, but one thing was sure: I was going to utilize it to the fullest advantage.

Most likely, he must have thought that since I was the one trying to get a partnership with his labs, then I would make sure I was on my best behavior and not do anything funny.

But as it so happened, we didn't want a partnership in the first place, and this was just more of a cover-up so that I could utilize any chance I got to, in fact, do something funny and gather all the information I needed as soon as possible.

So when he actually agreed to it, I felt more relieved.

But of course, I wasn't foolish enough to believe that my mission here was almost complete. If there was really some dirt on him, then he would not show me that or give me any reason to think that.

Instead, I would be shown only the basic, uninteresting parts. So in truth, he had nothing to lose either way.
