Meeting Wolfe

After declaring that he needed to attend to something else and gaining assurance from Ruby that she would stay in her apartment until he came and got her for the last period, Moss left, carefully closing Ruby's door.

At first, she just stood there, letting her mind absorb the enormity of being here, without her parents. It was weird, but Ruby didn't feel lonely, at least not yet. Her apartment really was something out of her imagination, and she'd be happy just standing and looking at everything for the rest of the day, but last period was homeroom, where introductions would be made, and Ruby wanted to be prepared.

"Shower time." She announced to the air, jumping as an automatic voice responded, "Shower, on, temperature setting required." 

"Um," Ruby had no idea what temperature she had set her shower to, so she replied, "Normal, please."In a matter of minutes, the voice told her the water was ready, and the heated towel rail was on for her uniform and towel while she got clean. It was something she would have to get used to.

Thirty glorious minutes later, Ruby was put together. The uniform material was nothing she had ever felt before; it was like a second skin, and she felt a bit naked, to be honest. One look in the mirror, though, and she was grinning. Whatever the material was, it made her figure look like a supermodel's, and the mirror must also be showing fake images of her face and hair too, because her eyes looked more like a lion's than a human's, and her dark hair had undergone a serious spa treatment, cascading down her back from the high ponytail she'd done out of habit. Should it be more formal? Like a messy bun or French braid? Ruby made a note to ask Moss when he came back.

A knock at her door sounded well before last period, and Ruby grinned, glad she had gotten ready earlier. Since she had no books yet, there was no need for a bag, so Ruby answered the door with a smile.

It wasn't Moss staring back at her.

Oh my Goddess, the smell of her doesn't do Ruby justice at all, and Wolfe was already addicted to her scent. Now she was right there in front of him, and he couldn't remember the excuse he'd come up with to be here in the first place. His inner wolf started laughing. Amarok had urged his human to wait and let the process happen naturally, but the scent had driven the wolf just as wild at the end and landed the pair in front of her door.

Then she smiled, looking slightly puzzled, and was the first to speak.

"Hi? Um, did Moss send you? Has he been tied up or something?"

Amarok snorted; the notion of the elf king being tied up by anyone was hilarious, and Wolfe struggled to keep his face normal. " Stop it, Amarok, don't make us look like an idiot."

Realizing that the normal response would be to answer her, he gave her his most panty-dropping smile, "Hi, I'm one of your, uh, apartment mates?"

You dick. If it were possible for a wolf to put his paws over his eyes, Amarok would be doing it. Smooth move, watch how the Alpha does it. 

Wolfe's eyes changed, and his voice grew slightly deeper.

"Let's start that again, shall we? My name is Wolfe, no, not like the dog; I have an 'e' at the end of my name. It seems that Moss left you before introducing you to your syndicate. Would you like to go for a quick stroll around our block?"

Ruby immediately relaxed, but her cheeks went slightly rosy, and her body temperature went up a few degrees.

Wolfe tried to get Amarok out of the driver's seat, but the arrogant animal held onto control like a wizard clings to his wand. Amarok was an old soul, and Wolfe could take comfort in the fact that there was little chance he would lose control during a stroll around the four apartments. But he wanted to be the first to talk with his mate, to get to know her and feel the mate bond grow ever tighter. Stupid dog.
