My father gestured with his hand to the guards, "It's okay, let her in," he said

I sighed deeply and entered his office, which I had visited for the first time since I came here. I saw him standing holding some papers in his hand, wearing a white medical coat, and he seemed quite busy as usual and did not bother to ask about me while I was standing in front of him now.

I watched him walk towards his huge library and then he pulled out a large file from it to put the papers inside it and then finally turned to look at me

"What brings you here, Elaine? Don't you see that I'm busy, I told you many times before to call if you need money and so..." he said.

I interrupted him, "But I don't want the money," I said

He took off his glasses and put them on the desk, then threw the file from his hand on the table, "So what do you want from me?" he said.

"You . . . conduct . . your experiments on werewolves while telling everyone that you are doing therapeutic research on human patients?" I said hesitantly.

He stared at me for a moment and then sat on the office chair, "Yes, and this is within my work as well. I buy the werewolf from the hunter in exchange for huge sums of money. The werewolf breed is the strongest. I wanted to know their blood and the work of their bodies and how to take advantage of their abilities," he said with a smile

I opened my mouth in amazement, "But they are creatures like us too. They have the right to live in peace. It's not fair to hunt them like animals and experiment on them? Then that's against the law," I said.

He leaned forward, clasping his hands on his desk. "They are wild beasts...Listen to me, Eileen. I warn you not to say such words again. Don't forget that you are a member of our medical staff," he said in a loud voice.

My eyes widened and I just realized I had done a bad job with him, "Then why did you hire me here? Are you putting me in danger or are you not my father?" I said nervously

He got up from his chair and walked over to me and put his hands on my shoulder, "Dear Eileen, don't get it like that...I'm sure your father and we are one family here...I chose you to work with me because I know you're hardworking and you've done a lot of research on werewolves, you're just like me and different from your brothers LaRive and Caroline. You will help me develop the center in the future." He said

I turned away from him, "I'm sorry... but I'm not as ruthless as you," I said, looking him in the eye

Shocked at my boldness with him, I did not leave him room to respond and retreated back to leave his office without turning towards him, I am now supposed to abandon him and leave work with him.

I got to my office and started collecting my things. I was in a state of shock and disgust at what they had done here. I looked at the watch in my hand. It was still early days, and I wouldn't be able to leave on the bus alone until work was over.

I sighed and went out to walk the corridors, which looked bleak with the white lighting, I had not been like this before I knew about the center's activity

I found myself standing in front of Alexei's room.

I watched him through the outside glass, he was sitting on the floor angry and sad, I ran my fingers across the glass vaguely, what did he do to be trapped here? Just because he's a werewolf!

I don't know, but I felt an interest and a responsibility for him.

My phone's ringing interrupted my train of thoughts, and when I saw the caller, it turned out to be my mother, I didn't answer her and put the phone back on the table. I was in a bad mood, I didn't want to worry any more, especially after I told her that I was staying alone at home without my father, who I rarely saw coming here.

My stomach started with hunger cramps and I thought of going out to the cafe next door to get some food. I was very hungry, and thinking so much made me forget about food completely.

I put on my coat to leave and when I opened the door to my surprise Caroline was standing in front of me and my eyes widened in astonishment.

"Caroline!" I said

She opened her arms to me, "Eileen, my love," she said while hugging me

Carol was my older sister and she used to act like my mother when it came to family matters, I missed her so much, I hadn't seen her for about a month.

She turned away and stared at me, "Why do you look so pale? Are you okay?" she said while holding my chin.

"Shall we talk here in front of the house?" I said with a small smile, and then we entered the house together.

I took off my coat while Carol put her big bag on the floor, guessing she would be staying with me for a long time.

"Are you going to go out?" she said, removing her woolen hat from her head

"Yeah, I was going to go out to the cafe next door and get some snacks." I said

I got excited and rolled up the sleeves of my shirt, "Then I'll help you," I said

Together we went to the kitchen, and Caroline and I prepared a few pancakes, and then we sat down talking about everything.

Caroline was moving her fork across the plate.

She was silent for a while, then continued, "Eileen... my mother wants you to come back as soon as possible. She is worried about you being alone here, so will you come back with me?" she said.

I looked down "I'm worried about her...but I can't go back now, I still have some work to do" I said

"But won't you quit working with my father?" I asked

"No, I will, but not now," I said

"Okay, as you wish, I'll stay by your side and won't leave you alone," she said with a smile

After we had eaten together, I let Caroline arrange her clothes in her room, while I walked towards my room, to change into a wide nightgown and untied my hair, getting ready for bed, and suddenly I saw my phone flashing with a message,

I looked at it and read:

...the center is subject to a raid by the authorities, he was exposed, so please stay away from him...

I swallowed my throat, and asked about the unknown person who sent it to me. What did he mean? Was this a warning to me or a threat? I closed my eyes, no more thought, and threw myself on the bed.

Another week had passed since I was next to Alexei, he used to sit next to him and became calmer, I noticed the ghost of a smile on his face every time I entered his room. So many times I tried to get him to talk but to no avail he was silent the whole time. I couldn't tell what he was thinking.

I had made my decision yesterday and started implementing my plan to get Alexei out of here. At first, I was keen to keep the nursing staff away from him on the pretext that he was tired and not ready to take any test. I hated their actions, their injections, and their reports.

I waited until the end of the working hours approached and the staff began to leave the center and gather to board the bus. I walked quickly towards the office of the responsible doctor Roman after I learned that my father was holding a closed meeting and no doubt Roman would be one of the attendees.

As I was leaving his office, I saw him coming and hid behind a big closet in the middle of the corridor there. He was busy having a conversation on his phone and I listened to him.

 

"Dr. Albert asks to vacate the center from all cases, manage it," he said as he entered his office. I wondered what he meant by evacuating the center, it seems that my father knew about the authorities' raid on the center.
