Ivorie became speechless as she felt gazes land upon her. Her neck prickled with nervousness. Why was this Duchess asking her this?

Noticing that she was already silent for a long time.

“That is none of your business, Jenna.” She had opened her mouth to speak but Regan beat her to it. She looked at him. He was glaring at Jenna and her eyes traced down his arm to see his hand fisted on the table.

He was obviously angry at the Duchess’ attitude. And she was thankful for his intervention.

Thinking that it was over, she bent and continued with her meal.

“Forgive me Alpha. But I am merely curious. Many others would surely question the legitimacy of our Luna's…”

“Are you questioning her legitimacy?” Regan thundered, his voice booming across the entire dining hall, sending shivers down the spine of everyone present.

Clearly, Jenna wasn't done like Ivorie had thought. But outrightly saying such words at the wedding dinner of a newly wedded Luna was just…madness. The duchess sure had a nerve. She wouldn't blame Regan's rage as she should also be enraged.

“Again, forgive me Alpha but…”

“Keep your apologies to yourself. You will not question my wife, your Luna at my dinner.” He said authoritatively, giving her a look that sent a message, 'I would snap her neck any second' to her.

Jenna stared at him longingly, her jaws flexing and relaxing. “Yes Alpha.” She said in a low voice, lowering her head.

The tension in the dining hall was tense. All the Elders and nobles had stopped eating and were locked in the scene before them, Including Ivorie. Her gaze was mostly on Regan.

She felt warm seeing him stand up for her. ‘He may not be as bad as everyone said.’ she thought.

“Forgive me, Luna. I'll be sure to cut the throats of anyone who dares to question you.” Jenna said, saying the last sentence in a hushed menacing tone. She gave Ivorie a dark sinister look with a smirk.

A shudder ran down Ivorie's spine, especially now that everyone around the table were looking at her intently. Her hands shivered in nervousness.

The nervousness overwhelmed her and she couldn't take it anymore. Standing up abruptly, “Excuse me,” she muttered and walked out of the dinning hall.

Murmurs filled the hall as she left but she didn't care. She just went down the hallway till she was walking into her bedroom. She slammed the door shut behind her and went to the bed.

She had mixed feelings of anger and fear in her. She felt bad for what Jenna had said to her. She knew that even with Regan's scolding, she didn't really have a change of heart. She still thought she was an illegitimate daughter of Alpha Johan.

Although she looked a bit like her mother, she didn't possess any physical likeness to the man. Even his attributes contradicted hers in every way. Not to mention his harsh and unfair behaviour towards her. And the way her siblings treated her like an outcast.

Those were enough to doubt her own legitimacy as the first daughter of an Alpha; an Alpha female. She didn't even have a wolf to begin with.

“Argh!” She yelled angrily as she scattered the bed. The Duchess had successfully gotten to her.

The door clicked open a little, making Ivorie sit upright and put on a straight face. She watched as Regan walked in.

She avoided his gaze by lowering her head. She thought he was only here to judge or scold her anyway.

Regan didn't move from the entrance, resting on the wall with folded arms. He gazed at Ivorie longingly.

“That wasn't very queenly you know.” He muttered, breaking the silence.

Seeing that his voice was soft, Ivorie raised her head.

“I know, I'm sorry,” she sighed.

“You let her get into you.” He continued. Like he was ranting out her faults.

Ivorie sighed and lowered her head again.

Regan pushed himself off the wall and walked to her. Ivorie's heart raced at his thudding steps.

He stopped when he was only inches away from her.

“You would have to get used to it. You're a Luna now.” He said in somewhat harsh tone. Ivorie had to look up to his face to ascertain his expression.

He was frowning slightly at her. But when she faced him, his expression softened. His heart raced as Boris, his wolf fueled him with his emotions.

He was forced to sit next to her. So close to her, their bodies touched and he could feel sparks on his skin.

“No one is going to question your legitimacy as long as I'm here,” he whispered against her ear.

Ivorie's face heated up, his hot breath blowing against her neck. It felt alluring.

She nodded at his assurance, wondering why she felt confident in his words or why she felt secure around him.

Instinctively, Regan's arms went around her shoulder. Ivorie jumped and faced him with a puzzled expression. But seeing his face, her heart stopped racing.

He didn't say a word, just pulled her into himself. Her head rested on his chest as he rubbed her back and shoulder tenderly.

The touch sent sparks skittering down Ivorie's body. Her core boiled; something she had never felt before. She felt the urge to cling unto him forever. Her breath soon began to hitch as his hand rubbed her more.

Regan was in heaven as her breast touched his abdomen. Even though it was just slightly, he still found it hard to control Boris’ purring in his mind. He was fighting his member from rising but it seemed very difficult.

He reached for her face, carefully tilting it to his face. Their faces were close to each other's. They could each feel their breath beating their faces, yet they didn't move from that position.

Regan's hand traced from her ear to her chin, pushing the stray hair from her face. His eyes twinkled with flecks of blue and red. Her beauty was like something he had never seen. It made him spellbound.

He didn't realise that Boris' emotion was taking over as he was slowly leaning closer to her. Her eyes were shut too, expecting the enticing contact.

But he didn't, he forced Boris to the back of his mind, even though the wolf protested vehemently.

Hastily, he sprang up to his feet. Ivorie jolted out of her trance, feeling both embarrassed and confused.

“Wha…what is it?” She asked in a soft tone.

Without facing her, “The dinner is over already, you can go ahead and sleep.” He said and began to walk away

Ivorie's mouth was wide agape in dumbfoundedness.

“Wait, aren't you sleeping here too?” She asked, hoping that would make him stop and at least explain to her what was going on.

But he didn't, instead he replied as he went, “No I won't.” And he was off.

Ivorie sat there, trying to place her finger on what she might have done wrong. They were in the moment together, they were about to kiss. And he just suddenly bolted.

“Did he have cold feet?” She wondered as she laid down on the bed.

Her mind drifted back to what the duchess had said.

Now that she thought about it, she hadn't heard about anyone with a white hair in her lineage. So why was her hair white?

The courtroom hummed with several voices. Ivorie sat at the end of the long table, silently watching the Elders engage in heated argument amongst themselves. Although it was not a pleasant thing, it took her mind off the worry of her baby."Luna, we understand that you've been grieving the kidnapping of your baby for days, as expected," one of the Elders said, his voice gentle but firm. "But I believe it is time we received more information concerning our Alpha's betrayal. We need to know what happened, and why Regan would betray the pack in such a way."The rest of the elders nodded in agreement.“And most importantly, why would he want his own newly birthed son kidnapped?” Another Elder added. Everyone went mute, awaiting Ivorie's response.Ivorie's eyes darted nervously around the room. It felt like a heavy weight had been placed upon her with the Elders’ intense attention on her.She knew that she had to tread carefully, to avoid revealing the plan that she and Elder Callen had e

The silence was horrifying, and Ivorie's anxiety was growing by each passing hour. She went to the fireplace, pacing back and forth in front of it with her hands clasped together in a futile attempt to calm her racing thoughts. ‘What if Jenna has betrayed me? The darkness of the dungeon seemed to press in on Jenna from all sides, the cold stone walls and damp air a constant reminder of her captivity. An entire year of living in an unfavourable condition, consuming unhealthy food and breathing pungent air.She had begged the guards multiple times to clean the other corner of the cell where decayed human dung lied for a long time. She had learnt to live with it overtime. She sat in a corner, busy playing with a small stone. In this place, that was about the most interesting thing she could do.But she knew all these conditions she found herself in, were caused by her. She brought it upon herself.
