Penelope’s POV

I pulled my car into the Rainbow Claw training facility parking lot and felt my heart stop. Emergency vehicles crowded the normally peaceful area like vultures around carrion.

The building looked like something massive had torn through it. Deep gouges scarred the exterior walls—claw marks that could have come from a creature the size of a truck. Chunks of concrete lay scattered across the training grounds where children usually practiced their forms.

My boots crunched on debris as I ran toward the command center that had been set up near the main entrance. Parents clustered around stretchers, some crying, others shouting questions at anyone in uniform who passed by.

“Ryan!” I called when I spotted my Beta coordinating with multiple agencies near a bank of radio equipment.

He looked up from his clipboard, relief flooding his face when he saw me. “Commander. Thank the goddess you’re here.”

“What happened?” I demanded, grabbing his arm. “Where’s Debbie?”

Ryan’s face went pa

Julian’s POVLeonardo’s shop occupied a narrow building in the neutral zone, squeezed between a pawn shop and a tattoo parlor. Neon signs cast colored light across the pavement as I approached the back entrance. The door opened before I could knock.“Punctual,” Leonardo grunted, stepping aside to let me enter. “Good trait for someone playing with death.”His workshop smelled of metal shavings and chemical residue. Shelves lined the walls with silver weapons, enhancement drugs, and ritual components that human society pretended didn’t exist.“Your order’s ready,” he said, leading me to a workbench where three packages waited. “Silver needles forged during the last eclipse. Pain compounds tested on volunteers who actually survived. Lunar herbs grown in soil that’s seen enough Alpha blood to qualify as sacred.”I examined each package carefully. They had warnings printed on them in multiple languages.“Dosage instructions are included,” Leonardo continued. “Follow them exactly, or you’ll

Julian’s POVThree days of research had filled my apartment with forbidden knowledge. Ancient texts lay scattered across my desk next to modern chemistry manuals and medical journals. The enhancement ritual demanded more than suffering—it required scientific precision. My laptop screen showed supplier websites where I could purchase the exotic components. Silver needles: twelve hundred dollars. Lunar herbs: eight hundred for a complete set. Pain amplification compounds: available only through black market contacts who asked no questions about intended use.The total cost would drain my savings completely.I picked up my phone and dialed a number I hadn’t used in months.“Leonardo speaking,” came the gravelly voice.“It’s Julian. I need to make a purchase.”A pause. “Been a while, boy. What kind of purchase?”Leonardo ran a specialty shop in the neutral zone between territories. His inventory included items that mainstream suppliers wouldn’t touch—components for rituals, enhancement dru

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 268: Awakening Hunger

Julian’s POVThe forest path crunched beneath my boots as I returned from another intelligence gathering mission at the Rogue compound. My wolf form had carried me swiftly through the darkness, but shifting back to human hadn’t eased the restlessness burning in my chest.I paused at the edge of Iron Mountain territory, where light spilled from Penelope’s training facility’s windows. A late meeting, probably about border defenses or supply shortages. Nothing unusual there. Then I saw them.Dominic emerged first from the side entrance, his shirt wrinkled and hair disheveled. Even from this distance, I could smell Penelope’s scent clinging to his clothes—not the faint traces of meetings, but the unmistakable evidence of intimate contact.Penelope appeared moments later, adjusting her uniform jacket. Her lips looked swollen, her face flushed. She said something to Dominic that I couldn’t hear, but his response made her step back sharply. They separated without touching, walking toward diff

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 267: Power Play

Penelope’s POVCouncil meeting tensions escalated as territorial disputes arose over defense resource allocation. Alpha Mark slammed his fist on the polished table while Hadrian argued about ammunition shortages.I noticed Dominic deliberately avoiding eye contact across the room while Mark distributed patrol schedules with obvious favoritism toward his own territories. Every time our gazes might have met, he found reasons to examine documents or engage other representatives in conversation. The avoidance stung more than I cared to admit. After the meeting concluded, I retreated to my private office in the Council building, locking the door behind me.Minutes later, a knock interrupted my attempt to review territorial maps. I opened the door expecting Ryan with updates, but found Dominic instead.“Urgent security matters,” he said formally. “May I come in?”Against my better judgment, I stepped aside. He entered and closed the door, his large frame making my office feel impossibly smal

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 266: Caught Red-Handed

Penelope’s POVThe Iron Mountain packhouse lay silent as I returned well past midnight, every window dark except the security lights. The strategy session had run late, followed by an encounter with Dominic that left me physically exhausted but mentally wired.I climbed the stairs quietly, checking on Debbie first. She slept peacefully in her room, red curls spread across her pillow, clutching the stuffed wolf Dominic had given her months ago.My private quarters felt like sanctuary after hours of forced professionalism.I kicked off my boots and pulled tactical reports from my briefcase, determined to focus on work instead of the memories burning through my system. But concentration proved impossible.Every line of text blurred as my mind replayed Dominic’s hands on my body, the way we’d moved together in the armory. The physical relationship we’d developed left me conflicted—my body craved him while my mind warned against trusting him again.I abandoned the reports and retreated to m

  • Alpha's Regret: Return of the Rejected Mate   Chapter 265: Silver and Steel

Dominic’s POVThree days of avoiding each other ended when I found Penelope alone in the armory, conducting inventory on our expanding weapons cache. She knelt among cases of silver blades, checking each one against supply lists. The distance we’d maintained since the strategy room felt like mockery after what had happened between us. Every Council meeting, every tactical discussion, every moment of forced cooperation reminded me of her taste, her scent, the desperate way she’d responded to my touch.“Working late again,” I said from the doorway. She looked up briefly, then returned to her inventory. “Someone has to maintain accurate counts. These weapons could mean the difference between victory and defeat.”“Always the dedicated commander.”“Always the job that needs doing.”I stepped inside and closed the door behind me. The armory felt smaller with both of us in it, walls lined with enough silver to kill a hundred mutated wolves. When Penelope reached for a heavy case on the upper
