Chapter 38

Naomi POV

Lying on the gurney was a little boy who was covered with blood. There were several cuts on his body but I couldn't bring myself to take note of them all.

Blinking my eyes rapidly, I tried to steady my heavy breathing but I couldn't. The sight was so terrifying that with each passing minute, I felt life seeping out of me.

Just when my legs were about to give way, Cassie held me from behind and then with the aid of another nurse, I was helped to sit on one of the chairs in the hallway.

“Are you alright?” The nurse asked but because I could answer, Cassie said, “Thank you, I will take care of her.”

“Please do.”

For more than half an hour, I sat there, trying to get my mind off what I had seen but the scene was just too horrific for me to forget so easily.

When I could finally get a grip on myself, I turned towards Cassie who was staring intently at me. She had the look of worry on her face that made my facepalm myself.
