Soon they were on the way to her college.
“You sure don’t want any help?” he asked again.
“No,” she replied.
“Well, in either case I will be around. Call me when you need and I’ll be there. And now give me your phone.”
“Why?”
“Give it to me baby,” he pleaded.
Xikouth’s voice was dripped with icicles. The way he spoke chilled her to the marrow. She was terrified. So many shenanigans were going on and she felt like she was in the center of them. Why was everything linked to her? Why did her father marry Lyrie? Her skin was clammy and she could feel tremors in her hands and fingers. In order to hide it, she clutched the hem of her shirt. The sound of her heartbeat thrashed in her ears. Her facial muscle tensed. She knew something was off with her stepmother but she didn’t expect her to be so twisted that she sacrificed her, like threw her in the depths of the river. She started having such high regard for Vargauz that her eyes filled with tears. A lump formed in her throat. He didn’t think twice to sacrifice his life in order to save her. Xikouth tilted his face to watch her expressions turn from that of terror to pain to anger. She glared at him as sudden anger filled her mind. What was this man doing here if the mission was accomplished? W
Amelia was so scared at what happened in front of her that her brain shut down. Her skin became clammy and cold sweat glistened on her forehead. Her eyes became wide like a football field. Was she was trapped in a nightmare? Was her mind playing games with her? A man just got consumed in the flames and instead of burning to ashes as a normal person would, as what she had studied in her college he disappeared. It was bizarre. She got up on her feet. She was so shaky that she didn’t know how to control the shiver of her body. Tears ran out of her eyes. If this man was the demon king, then he won’t leave her alone. He would come back to take her away as he had said. She could sense the determination in his voice. She could sense the possessiveness in his voice. He was dangerous.
Vargauz looked at her and smiled. He wrapped his arms around Amelia and said, “I am so grateful to the Fae spirits that I found you.”Amelia closed her eye
Vargauz kissed on her forehead and replied, “Sure Amelia. But you look so pale. First you should eat something.”With her fingers she made imaginary lines
“Let’s go from here and hunt around. I don’t want to wait here for a moment more,” said Vargauz. “This place gives me a creepy feeling.”
Amelia shook her head. “What tithe are you talking about?” she asked, as she hid the information as to why she was actually there. And where was Vargauz. He had not returned. The night was falling fast.
Amelia listened to the rustle of sheets on the bed. The creature must have stopped strangulating Freda, as she seemed to have crawled away from it. Amelia clambered out from her hidden position. Her eyes met with the black boots of the creature. She crawled out won her elbows and as she stood up, her eyes met with the person standing in front of her. Her body froze and her mouth fell open as her mind registered shock. She stared into the creature’s blazing eyes. He was half transparent, just like Vargauz when he was making love to her. His white wings were tucked on his back and he was giant, taller than Vargauz by at least a feet. He looked ferociously beautiful with white fangs out and yellow claws out. Was that a Fae? Did he belong to the Kingdom of Uzgolith? Where was Vargauz? Had he abandoned her and sent this one after her? Thousands of questions crossed her mind. She gulped.&nbs
Shocked to her core, Amelia turned to look at Vargauz. There were goose bumps on her skin. “Vargauz— I— I don’t know how that happened! I was only protecting myself, and the villagers.” She shook her head in denial of what occurred a few seconds before. “This man— this fae—” she pointed at the ashes. “He wanted to— to—” her voice cracked and she broke into a fit of loud cries. “Where were you?”
