Chapter 6

I felt the train coming to a stop. Opening my eyes, I quickly jumped down. Walking away trying to see in which town I am. I’m so tired. How late is it anyway

Walking into town, I got a few stares from the town people who are still awake. I probably look like hell. I could imagine what was going through the people’s minds. A young girl walking alone at night looking like crap. Hell, I would also stop and stare at myself.

I spotted an Inn in front. It does not look too bad. Hopefully, it’s not too expensive. Walking through the doors. The lady sitting behind the counter does not look too happy to see me.

“How can I help you?” She looked me up and down. Scrunching up her nose.

“How much for a single room?”

“Sixty dollars.” She said while chewing on her bubble gum.

Searching through my jean pockets, I took out my last money. Counting sixty dollars, sliding it over to her. “Here.”

With a frown on her face, she looked between me and the money on the counter.

“Am I supposed to pick that up? It looks so dirty?”

Okay, I really tried being nice. My day was like crap and here I am supposed to take her crap as well? I don’t think so! I jumped over the counter-punching her right in the face. Looking like a crazy person.

“Hello?” She waves her hand in front of me.

I shake my head. I need sleep I’m going crazy.

“What?” I snapped at her

“I asked you, your name?” She frowned at me while tapping her pen on the counter, waiting for my reply.

I know I need to give her another name.

“Amore,” I told her.

She wrote down my details. “Here’s your room key, you’re in number six.”

Taking the key, I turned to my left.

“Number six is on your right. Just Go straight. The door on the left.” Her voice full of irritation.

Turning to my right, I followed her direction, hearing her scream from behind.

“Housekeeping is at 10, make sure you are out by then.”

Getting to my door, I unlocked it. Closing the door and locking it behind me. I turned and looked around the room. It’s quite small. A single bed stood in the corner of the wall, and next to it was a bedside table with a desk lamp and a bible on top. On the other side of the room stood a dresser.

I walked straight to the bathroom. Turning the shower to warm. Steam quickly started filling the room. Taking off my clothes, I climbed in letting the hot water run all over me. My skin started getting red. Pressing my forehead to the shower wall. My heart hurt so much, grabbing at my heart as if I can rip it out of my chest! This pain is indescribable. Tears started running down my face. “WHY ME???” I screamed. “AHHH!!” Falling to my knees pulling at my hair, I started crying loudly, letting go of all my emotions, the hurt, the pain, the loneliness, all the feelings I ever kept inside over the years. Tonight will be the last night I will cry over my life, letting the tears fall freely.

Feeling exhausted, I start washing myself, scrubbing away all the dried blood. Climbing out I wrap myself with the towel. I quickly started washing my dirty clothes in the sink, hanging them over the shower door to dry. I climbed into the bed with the towel wrapped around me. Quickly falling asleep.

A Glittering sunray spread around the room promising a new beginning. I covered my eyes from the sun with my arm. “Ugh, I need to get up.” I mumbled to myself. Heading to the bathroom to quickly wash my face and put on my half-wet clothes. Feeling groggy, I look at myself in the mirror. “You know you look like shit.” Combing my hair with my fingers trying to make it look more presentable. “Ugh, what am I going to do?” “Where is my phone?” I looked around the room but could not seem to find it. “Maybe it fell out of my pocket while I was running.” “AHHH!” That’s nice. That`s just brilliant. I told myself sarcastically. I’m on my own, hell knows where, with no money, no phone, no clothes, and no plan. One thing is for sure. I need to get out of here and find a place to live and start a new life.

Walking out of the room, I dropped the key with the lady in front and headed outside. I looked at all the cars passing by. I’m so hungry. Just then my stomach started to grumble. I search through my pockets, maybe there`s some spare change left. Nothing, not even a dollar.

I started heading to the nearest filling station. At the filling station I spotted an old man with a rusty red pickup truck, he is busy filling up his truck. I walked up to him.

“Good morning, sir.”

He’s wearing a worn-out cowboy hat, white trousers, long blue and green striped check shirt with black shoes. Not even bothered to look at me, his eyes focused on the gas pump nozzle.

“Morning Missy, are you lost?”

“No…” lifting only his eyes he glared at me as if saying, don’t give me that bull.

“UH, yyes, sir.”

“Where are you heading?” he asked

“Anyplace that is away from here.”

“Well, I’m heading to Georgetown. If you want to catch a ride you need to sit at the back. My dog sits in front.”

Looking at the back of the pickup. What’s that smell, I covered my nose. The back of the pickup is covered in hay and only he knows where the smell comes from.

“I’m done, so if you want a ride, you better jump on.”

Not wasting any time, I climbed on, sitting with my back to the cab. I suddenly heard a rumble. Looking to the sky. Big raindrops fell on my face. It’s like the sky is also crying for me. The sky was covered in dark clouds with only lightning to be seen. It started to rain heavily. I`m not even surprised. I pulled my coat over my head for some cover.
