Chapter 5

Author: Goldie Bloom
After some inquiring, I learned that Lana had rented my house to Zac's relatives without my consent. She herself had rented another villa outside with Zac.

Honestly, I had been completely honest with Lana and had given her everything I had since we got together. For six years, I never asked her for a penny in rent. I treated her sincerely, yet Lana only regarded me as a sucker.

Seeing the completely different house, I immediately called the police and showed them the deed, saying the contract was invalid, and managed to drive out the tenants.

As soon as I closed the door, Lana immediately called me. "Cruz, did you go to the apartment to make a fuss and drive out the tenants?"

I had no intention of hiding it, so I admitted it right away.

Lana, on the other end of the line, paused for a moment before ranting, "Why did you drive out my tenants? Do you know how much I have to compensate them? How could you make such a big decision without consulting me?"

I felt speechless. "This was my parents' house. Do I need your permission to do something?"

Perhaps I had disobeyed her for the first time in a long time, Lana froze for a moment before sobbing, "Cruz, you've changed. You said before that you would do whatever I say, no matter what!"

I did not deny that I had changed, but it was Lana who had changed first.

Before starting her business, she was not so petty and scheming. Even if we only had a few hundred dollars left in our pockets and were so poor that we could only eat sandwiches on Valentine's Day, she still smiled sweetly.

Even after she started her business, she became increasingly erratic. I thought we would be family eventually, and Lana was indeed under a lot of pressure in the early stages of her business, so I always went along with her.

As the company grew, Lana changed. Especially after Zac came, she became even worse.

Now that I was not planning to marry her, I did not need to accommodate and compromise. With this in mind, I retorted, "Lana, weren't you the one who changed first? Why don't you talk about how much rent I've saved you over the years, how many orders I've brought in, and how much money I've made for you? What right do you have to criticize me?"

Hearing this, the person on the other end of the line paused for a moment before roaring, "You want me to pay rent? Cruz, I think you're just obsessed with money! Let me tell you, this tenant is Zac's relative. How is Zac supposed to face his friends and relatives now? You'd better hand over the house and ask them to move back in, or...we'll have to break up!"

This was Lana's method that had always worked for the past six years.

I was aiming for marriage earlier, thinking that all couples argued, and everyone needed time to adapt, so I tolerated it all.

However, after meeting and spending time with Mabel, I realized how stifling and miserable my life had been.

With that in mind, I just nodded and said, "Okay, let's break up then."

Lana was silent on the other end of the line.

After a long pause, she clenched her teeth and asked, "You're breaking up with me over this little rent? Is a run-down apartment more important to you, or am I?"

Before I could answer, Zac's voice suddenly came through the phone. "Lana, maybe we should just forget about it. I'll think of something else myself."

Some were shocked, some were skeptical, and some were gloating. The atmosphere at the wedding venue instantly froze.Mabel's expression shifted as well. She squeezed my hand tightly, and I could sense her nervousness.I looked at Lana in the distance and could not help frowning. This woman refused to give up until she reached her goal. From afar, Lana looked at me with a smug expression, her eyes shining with a calculating glint. "Cruz, as long as you give me some money, I'll abort the baby. You're with Mabel now. It shouldn't be too difficult to give me 30 million dollars as child support."Her tone was flighty, as if talking about something insignificant.I looked at her and felt a wave of nausea. She considered the child a bargaining chip to blackmail me. How despicable and shameless!I took a deep breath and suppressed my anger. "Lana, do you

The host enthusiastically delivered the opening speech on stage, and the guests all took their seats to wait for the wedding to begin.Everything went smoothly until it was time for us to make our vows.I was about to say "I do" when suddenly a sharp shout came from outside the door. "No, I object!"For a moment, everyone was stunned as they turned their heads to look at the door.I looked over and saw Lana standing there with red and swollen eyes and disheveled hair, looking completely distraught. She came after us!My brows furrowed as a strong sense of annoyance welled up in my heart. I pondered, 'This woman is really persistent!'Ignoring everyone's gazes, Lana stormed onto the stage. She shoved the emcee aside and stood between Mabel and me. Pointing her finger at me, she tearfully accused, "Cruz! You heartless man! You've been with me for six years. I gave you the best years of my youth! You spent my money, lived in my house, and even made me your free designer! In the end

"This is impossible!"Lana's voice shifted in pitch as she gazed at the wedding invitation. "You're... really getting married? Cruz! You went ahead and got a marriage license with her without letting me know? And you even altered the name? You... You've gone too far!"Lana's eyes quickly turned red. Tears swirled in her eyes like she was in extreme distress.I was completely speechless, thinking, 'This woman must have graduated from an acting school! It's a pity she didn't become an actress.' 'I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the urge to roll my eyes before replying coldly, "I had already sent you the wedding invitation long ago. You didn't read it and even presumptuously thought I wanted to marry you! Now you're making a scene here. I feel embarrassed for you, even if you don't think so!"My words were utterly merciless, making Lana's face turn livid.Lana wanted to say more, but was interrupted by Zac, who was watching from the side.Zac had been observing the whole s

Lana felt more and more convinced as she spoke. Her eyes became increasingly determined. She even imagined a melodramatic plot like me spending a lot of money to hire people to put on a show in retaliation. The manager listened to Lana's words and was completely speechless. He felt as if he were having a conversation with an idiot, completely unable to communicate. He took a deep breath, suppressed the urge to curse, gave Lana a disdainful look, and coldly cautioned, "Miss, mind your words! Who are you to doubt Ms. Dawson's identity? I suggest you leave now. Don't embarrass yourself here! Or else, I won't hold back!"After the manager finished speaking, he waved his hand and called in several security guards. "Get these two out of here! They're not allowed to set foot in the hotel again!" The manager's voice was cold and authoritative, with no room for doubt.Several security guards immediately surrounded them menacingly. Without saying a word, they lifted Lana and Zac and dragge

Lana became more and more agitated as she spoke. She acted as if she had already understood everything. "I'm telling you, Cruz. Forget about tricking me today! Unless..."She paused, her gaze turning sinister. "Unless you hand over the deed right now and write my name on it! Otherwise, don't expect me to let you in, no matter who comes today!"Lana looked as if she had me under her control and that I had become her possession. This madwoman almost made me laugh exasperatedly. I wondered, 'What era does she think this is? Does she think she's a queen who can do whatever she wants? And the deed? Why doesn't she just fly to the moon while she's at it?'I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger in my heart. I was about to pull out my phone to call the police and have them deal with the unreasonable madwoman.Just then, a voice suddenly came from behind. "Why... Why are you here?"I turned around and saw the hotel manager running over.He was all smiles, bowing and scraping.

"You didn't even ask Cruz's opinion before deciding for him. Isn't it a bit too presumptuous of you?"Lana's arrogance grew after Mabel's retort. She gave Mabel a disdainful glance and said in a biting tone, "Who do you think you are? Do you have the right to interfere in my relationship with Cruz? I'm a top-notch female CEO! Take your money and get lost! Don't embarrass yourself here!"Just then, there was a crisp crack.Mabel expressionlessly broke the bank card in her hand into two halves. Her action was neat and swift, without the slightest hesitation. After all this was done, Mabel looked up and glared at Lana, icily asking, "Do you know the Dawson family?"Lana froze like she had been struck by lightning. She stood there motionless. "The Dawson family?"Zac looked disdainful as he scoffed, "Little girl, are you going to say you're the heiress of the Dawson family from Johnnyville?"He sized Mabel up and down, his eyes dripping with disdain and mockery. "This place is miles
