Iris “Prisoner……. Captive….. Slave…..” Those are little words when it comes down to me. My teenage was almost gone and when I saw myself standing in my adulthood, I realized I lost so many things including myself. Because I was his prisoner. I was Bratva’s captive and he left no stone unturned to teach me who is the owner of my life. “Regret?” “I regret the day when I stepped in his mansion blinded by vengeance. And he showed no mercy. I regret my impulsive decision and many more. But above all, I regret being the puppet of his hand.” Dimitrios “I don't have the word mercy in my rule book.” “But she is a kid.” “Doesn't matter. What matters is, she is an assassin's daughter and his father is not alive to pay for his deeds.” Copyright 2021-2022 by Irene Davison (Esperanza)

Outside the hotel room, I clasped my hand over my mouth. The sounds were unmistakable.
My husband was in the hotel room…
Having sex with another woman!
I burned with rage. I’d seen the dirty text message on my husband’s phone an hour ago.
‘‘Hey baby. Hope this gets you nice and hard. Can’t wait to see you tonight. Meet me at the Sterling Hotel. 8:00pm. Xoxo’
I’d thought the text message was just spam. But I’d gone to the Sterling Hotel anyway. I NEVER thought, in a million years, my husband would actually go.
I was wrong.
I pressed my ear up against the door. During a pause, I heard the woman speaking.
“What if your wife finds out about us, Jordyn?”
I felt like I recognized the woman’s voice, but I couldn’t recall where from.
“She won’t say anything. Besides, our marriage is already dead. The only thing she has going for her is that she’s obedient and sensible. If she finds out, she’ll keep her mouth shut if she knows what’s good for her. She needs me. She has nothing without me. But I don’t want to talk about Cassandra. You’re the only one I love, Ellie.”
Ellie!?
Her name hit me like a lightning bolt.
Ellie was Jordyn’s first love!
I was shocked and confused. How could this be? Ellie had been in a horrible car accident. She’d slipped into a deep coma and become a vegetable.
When did she wake up?
This clearly wasn’t the first time they’d been together. According to the text messages, Jordyn had been sneaking around with Ellie behind my back for a while now.
I felt dizzy and nauseous.
Deep down, I knew that Jordyn’s heart had always belonged to Ellie. Even after her accident, he’d still visited her regularly. He’d basically held a vigil at her bedside. I was always second to her. So I shouldn’t have been surprised that he’d gone running into her arms the moment she’d woken up.
But still.
He’d betrayed me, and that wasn’t something I could tolerate.
I banged on the door.
“We don’t need maid service. Go away,” Jordyn replied, annoyed.
Clearly, Jordyn wasn’t going to answer the door. I heard them resume their lovemaking.
Furious, I stormed down to the hotel front desk and demanded a key card to their room.
The receptionist was derisive.
“We can’t just give out keys to other people’s rooms,” she said, mocking me. “That’s against hotel policy.”
The receptionist rolled her eyes and ignored me, turning her attention back to her computer. I whipped out my phone and made a call.
“The Sterling Hotel is your property, right?” I said. “I need top-level access and I need it now.”
Seconds after I hung up, the receptionist received a call from her manager. I watched her face smugly as she realized who I was. She looked shocked. She hung up and looked at me sheepishly.
“I’m sorry, Miss Cassandra. I didn’t realize.” She handed me a room key.
I grabbed the key and marched right back up to Jordyn’s room. I swiped the room card and barged in.
Ellie screamed in shock, bolting upright in the bed, clutching the sheets to her naked chest.
“Cassandra?” Jordyn asked, his face stunned. “How the hell did you get in here?”
“Oh my god,” Ellie whispered, acting pitiful. “I’m sorry. I just…I missed Jordyn so much. I didn’t mean to ruin your marriage.”
“Enough,” I said curtly. “Stop pretending. Ruining my marriage is EXACTLY what you meant to do.”
Then I locked eyes with Jordyn.
“Either come home with me, right now,” I told him, “or we're getting a divorce.”
“There’s no need to be so dramatic, Cassandra,” Jordyn scoffed. “Stop making a scene. Here.”
He got off the bed and reached for his pants. He pulled his wallet out of his pocket and held out his credit card.
“Leave us,” he said, thrusting the credit card at me. “There’s plenty of money in the bank account, but if you run out, just use this.”
Seriously? I stared at Jordyn in disbelief. Then I laughed in anger.
I swatted at his hand, slapping the card away. Then I slid off my wedding ring and threw it on the ground.
“Cassandra,” Jordyn said, raking his hand through his hair. “Just calm down…”
“No,” I cut him off. “You’ve made your choice. We’re done. I’ll send over the divorce papers.”
Without another word, I stormed out of the hotel. Sitting in my car outside the hotel, I clutched the steering wheel. My mind spun.
Had that really just happened?
I couldn’t back the tears anymore. They streamed down my face.
I remembered the first time I’d met Jordyn. We met by chance during a charity gala. He’d approached me, and my breath had hitched in my throat. One look into his smoldering eyes, and I fell for him. He pursued me, and eventually we got married.
It wasn’t until after we were married though that I found out I was just a substitute. It just so happened that I looked a little bit like Ellie.
He’d never gotten over Ellie. And it didn’t help that Jordyn’s mother thought I was just some trashy gold digger. She was horrible to me. Over time, Jordy became more and more indifferent towards me. He stayed late at work, and then he started not coming home at all.
I started to feel hopeless. Jordyn was so distant. Was this really what I wanted from my marriage? So, in a moment of utter desolation, I’d suggested we get a divorce.
Jordyn had kissed me and hauled me into bed. He’d made passionate love to me, convincing me that he didn’t want a divorce.
I held onto hope. Maybe he just needed time. Maybe he would slowly fall in love with me.
Clutching the steering wheel outside the hotel, though, tears streaming down my face, I realized that I was never going to happen. Jordyn would never love me. His heart belonged to Ellie.
Jordyn had reacted the way he always did when I brought up our relationship. He tried to brush me off with money.
But the last thing I needed was money.
I swiped the tears from my cheeks and pulled out my phone and called my brother.
“Cameron?” I said, my voice cracking. “Come pick me up. I want to divorce Jordyn.”
"What have you decided then?" Igor pulled the chair close to him before sitting in front of Dimitrios's desk. "Nothing much." His reply was cold and his attention was fixed on something kept on the other side of the table."Still having that?" Igor followed his gaze and grabbed a look at the photo frame. It was the only picture where Iris was standing in front of Dimitrios while looking at him with a questionable expression. In those four years only once Igor got the courage to take a snap of them together. When Dimitrios found out about the incident later, he framed it and kept it somewhere in his office. He didn't know that when Maria kept it accidentally on his desk while cleaning the old kinds of stuff. "Not a use anymore." He turned the frame down and brought out another cigar to smoke."I see." Igor let out a long sigh watching the man getting old more than expected. There was always an age gap issue between Iris and Dimitrios but since she had left, it looked like Dimitrios's
"Happy Birthday Iris...... Finally, you are an adult." Maria spoke bringing out a box of chocolates for Iris in the morning. "Thank you, Maria...." Iris jumped out of her bed and hugged Maria putting a kiss on her cheeks. "Now, get ready and come down for breakfast." She insisted on making her fast in her actions. "Well well, I will be. Where is Dimitri? Your great boss." Iris taunted her while grabbing her dress to disappear into the washroom. "He is waiting downstairs at the breakfast table," Maria replied making her bed neat and clean. "I will be coming down in ten, Maria." She shouted back from the washroom. Iris stood in front of the large mirror and watched herself carefully. She grew up quite fast. From where those four years passed she didn't remember. She turned eighteen today and all she could see was a reflection of a tall beautiful young woman in the mirror. "Dimitri...." She rolled out his name while opening the tap to splash some water on her face. Unknowingly a sm
Iris slid through the tiniest gap that she made while opening the main door at the entrance. Holding her precious shoes in her hand she walked with the paws of a cat. Taking a sharp breath she made her way to the staircase to reach her room as fast as she could. The moment her feet touched the first step, the big chandelier illuminated just above her head and those shoes dropped from her hand to the ground making her curse under her breath. "Shit...." She whispered but didn't get the courage to turn her face to have a glance at the danger standing there. "I didn't know my house has become a paid hotel now." The voice was clear and she didn't even need to be in her senses to realize who was the owner of it.Turning her body towards the fear of her life she stood like a deer caught in a headlight. "Nice dress." Dimitrios chuckled watching her standing in a black slim fit dress that was ending just above her knees. "Dimitri... I...." Iris opened her mouth to protest when she realize
Maria entered the room and watched Iris carefully. When she turned her face to Dimitrios, he was already walking out of the room. "Sir, what had happened with her?" Accumulating some of her courage she dared to ask the man about Iris. "Ask her. I think she owes you an explanation tomorrow." Annoyance was clear in his voice. Maria didn't drag the matter on longer. She changed Iris's dress and washed off the makeup she was wearing. In between all such movements, Iris only knitted her eyebrows a few times and went back to sleep again."Sir...." Maria called Dimitrios once she was done with Iris and stood at the corner of the room. "Are you done?" Dimitrios asked stepping inside his room. Watching Iris in a comfortable night suit he nodded at Maria and told her to leave. After what happened in the car a part of him was not at all ready to let her sleep in his room. On the other hand, he was fighting with his budding emotions to keep her for the night. With the turmoil of his emotions, h
"Is she drunk?""I swear sir no. We were dancing and then we both came to have some mocktails. I guess she took the wrong glass as a few boys were ordering also at the same time." Robin had no intention to take advantage of Iris. At least when he was indirectly threatened by Dimitrios's men. "I doubt so boy..." Dimitrios spoke watching Iris carefully and her whole body. His eyes were searching for any sort of sign that could prove that she was assaulted. "I swear sir, she was constantly with me except two times. And that was the time I think this drinking issue happened. I took her out in the open air, the moment I realized she wasn't feeling comfortable and waited for you to come.""Dimitri....we already came late to pick her up. Let the boy go. He is speaking the truth." Igor interfered in the middle before Dimitrios could snap his neck in a second. The way he was getting hyper, there was a high chance of the young boy dying in his hand just because of offering Iris a dance."You a
"Prom?" Iris whispered the word to herself. Never in her dreams had she thought of Dimitrios accepting such things. Snapping her head towards him, she gave him a questioning glare before asking something."Are you trying to make fun of my situation?""If you think in such a way I can't do anything." Dimitrios shifted his gaze from her face to the other side of the window. The busy road had ended and they were heading in the direction of Iris's school. "But ... I... " She stopped herself from making an embarrassing statement. She couldn't just let him know that she had no confirmed partner. Gulping down the little fear she sat straight while fidgeting with her fingers. After twenty minutes of drive, they reached their destination. But no one decided to come down from the car for a good five minutes. "Don't you want to go inside?" Dimitrios was the first person to break the monotony of the silence. "Yes......" "Good... Now give me your hand first." Dimitrios ordered and Iris followe
