Chapter 6

William sat on the sofa while staring at her. These people were great at causing malice. They handed her concoctions of alcohol with the highest alcoholic content. Even if she was good at drinking, it still hurt her spleen and stomach.

Audrey straightened her back at one side. She looked like a peacock celebrating her victory.

William could not stand it anymore when he saw her mixing another strong drink for Sophia. He frowned and snatched the drink away. He downed the contents of the glass in one gulp. The spicy drink was like a knife, burning from his throat all the way down to his stomach.

Audrey came back to her senses, and her face turned green. “Will? What are you doing? That’s for Sophia.”

William glared at her. He did not say anything. Instead, he walked in front of Sophia and helped her up from the sofa. “Come with me.”

Sophia’s wrist was in pain when it was being grabbed by him. Before she could react, he was already pulling her out of the room.

“W-William, where are you taking me?”

He ignored her and pulled her outside. He only let go until they were downstairs and out of Dream Club. Sophia had a bad leg, so she could not balance herself. When he threw her like that, she fell lifelessly on the ground.

The bricks under her were ice cold. The sub-zero temperature sobered her up. She lifted her head and looked at him in confusion.

William frowned when he looked at her in this state. There was a lot of disappointment in his tone. “Is it fun to abandon yourself?”

She was slightly taken aback.

“Since you’re so reluctant to leave this feasting and pleasure-seeking life and you want to work as a welcoming lady here despite knowing that people will laugh at you, then why did you hurt Leah back then? Was it worth it to destroy Leah and yourself for Charles?”

“Will….”

Audrey caught up to them. She was holding a glass of alcohol. When she saw what was in front of her, she felt her heart tighten.

Back then, William had relentlessly chased after Sophia just like how Sophia relentlessly chased after Charles. If Sophia had not crashed into Leah while she was confused, William might not have given up on her.

Audrey was scared. She was scared that William might still have feelings for Sophia.

She was hesitating whether to pull William away when a silver grey Ferrari stopped abruptly in front of them with its hazard lights on. It stopped in front of the entrance, and in a flash, a familiar voice sounded behind Sophia.

“What’s going on? What’s everyone doing here?”

Sophia turned around and saw Charles getting out of the car. The driver drove the car away instantly.

He strode over to her slowly and lifted his eyebrows. “What’s wrong? You’ve been learning for half a month, but you still don’t know how to welcome a guest?”

Sophia came back to her senses and stood up while gritting her teeth. She bowed politely. “Hello, Mr. Harris.”

Charles did not say anything. She kept her waist bent. She felt nauseous in this position. Her body was also trembling slightly.

Perhaps he could smell the alcohol on her. Charles squinted his eyes.

“Don’t you know that you’re not allowed to drink during work hours?”

“I’m sorry, I…”

William frowned when he saw her being so lowly. His body moved forward subconsciously. He blocked her from Charles. “What a coincidence to bump into you here.”

Was it though?

No one would believe this statement. If no one notified him, a man like Charles would not even bother to step foot into this kind of establishment. He might even be the person behind all of this.

“I heard you just came back from the States. It’s such a rare occasion. What’s wrong? Did your underlings upset you?” While he said that, he peered at Sophia absent-mindedly. “You’ve been here for half a month. Didn’t your manager teach you what you should do when you’ve upset a guest?”

Sophia closed her eyes and turned around to walk to William. Then, she bowed deeply. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jones. I hope you can forgive me.”

William did not say anything. His face looked horrible.

Charles undid his sleeves and chuckled coldly. “It looks like you’re not planning to accept her apology. That’s fine. Just let her kneel here. She’ll be allowed to get up the moment you say you’re not angry anymore.”

Sophia bit her lip tightly. Her eyes were red. She turned her head, and her eyes met with Charles’ icy gaze. He wanted to force her to a dead end.
