Selena looked at her brother with disdain her beautiful eyes were sharp as she gave a cold smile.
She nodded and walked ahead with one of the men in front of her, the other two tailed behind cautiously as if fearing she would run away.
She walked along the cold corridor different sounds of lusts were heard as she passed by different doors.
Her stomach churned at the sound of those noises, one of the doors she passed by was slightly ajar, she got a quick glance of what was going on in there, a young woman probably in her late twenties with five other men.
She didn’t even want to imagine as she already felt disgusted by it. She kept her head high as she strode on her heels, not willing to give in to the fear creeping in.
They got to a door on the far end of the hall, the man in front knocked three times, more like a coded message, and the door opened, the man ushered Selena in and the two other men followed her behind as the door was shut, with the man in front waiting by the closed door.
The room was dimly light. Selena felt a bit suffocated by the darkness of the room. The walls were red. The kind that made your skin crawl, the air was filled with cigarette smoke and a mixture of sweat and cheap cologne smell.
Two women lounged beside Silas on a worn leather couch… both of them half-drunk, dresses riding up, mascara smudged to hell. One of the ladies sat on Silas’ laps, his hands gripped her waist tightly.
Another leaned against the wall snorting something off the back of his hand.
As soon as Silas saw her he smiled and lazily raised his glass, like a devil greeting a soul he’d been promised.
“Took you long enough,” he drawled, voice thick with liquor and ego.
Selena didn’t reply. She took one small step forward, just enough to let the light catch her face… calm, cold, eyes like ice.
“I must say, your brother didn’t do you justice. You’re even better in person.”
Silas stood up suddenly, pushing the girl on his laps away.
He walked close to Selena, looking at her with a sly grin. This girl was just so beautiful. “Don’t worry love, I’m not going to hurt you, I don’t bite.”
One of his men laughed from the corner. The woman in his lap didn’t even blink.
Selena’s fingers curled slightly at her sides. Her eyes turned cold as the temperature in the room dropped a few degrees.
“Is this what you do?” she asked quietly.
“Lure women in like animals, threaten their families and lock them in rooms like this?”
Silas raised an eyebrow and stepped closer.
“I don’t need to lure anyone. Most of them come willingly. Some just need a little… convincing.”
He gave her a once-over. “You’ll warm up. Trust me.”
He reached out to touch her hair.
That was his last mistake.
She didn’t even flinch, just moved back and grabbed the closest bottle, a whiskey, half full and slammed it against his face.
Glass shattered, blood spilled as Silas staggered backwards screaming, he didn’t even see it coming.
One of his men lunged at her from the right… big, stupid and slow, she grabbed the lamp from the table and threw it at him, he went down fast and hard, blood spraying the floor.
The second reached for her shoulders, she twisted his arm, slammed her knee into his chin, a little crack was heard, then she drove his head onto the side of the table.
The women in the room shrieked as they cowered I fear, hiding.
Silas was still on the floor, hands pressed against his bleeding face, groaning and cursing.
“You thought I was prey,” she hissed. “You brought a wolf into your slaughterhouse.”
She walked towards him as he cowered in fear.
She kicked him in his guts again and again.
“That’s for touching women who didn’t want you.”
Another hit.
“For thinking I was something you could buy.”
A kick to his gut.
“And for using my brother’s weakness to get to me.”
The women screamed once again, one still cowering at the corner, while the other two ran out of the room in fear.
Then she dropped an envelope by his side, “He took 10 grand, here are 20 grand, the remaining 10 grand are medical bills.”
She stood up, wiping her face and her hands as if she had just touched filth.
“Don’t ever go close again”, she walked out of the room.
Just outside the room before the ruckus began, Damian strode confidently through the hall, his shoes making a thud sound as he walked towards the end of the hallway.
The man at the door looked at him strangely as he walked towards him. He felt he was one of the drunk, wandering ones.
“You lost, pretty boy?”
Damian stopped in his steps, about two feet away from the man, tilting his head slightly.
She’s in there huh?”
So?” The man’s lips curled as he asked.
Damian didn’t answer. He just stepped closer and then it happened fast.
A sudden strike to the man’s ribs, the sound of air leaving his lungs was a bit comical.
Damian followed with a brutal knee to the man’s gut and an almost fatal strike to his neck.
The man dropped like a sack of bricks, not even moving.
Damian stepped over him, adjusting his cuffs and a little crease on his shirt as he leaned casually by the wall beside the door, his coat unbuttoned and his shirt a bit wrinkled either from the bar or from the sudden altercation.
He lit another cigarette… his third, just in time to hear the first crash and a man screaming. The cherry flared in the dark hallway, casting a momentary glow across his cheekbones.
He could hear the dull thud of movement, something heavy hitting wood. A chair scraping, a muffled curse, then another crash, louder this time. Something broke.
He stood still, taking another drag from his cigarette.
She hadn’t screamed once.
That’s what made him pause.
He could step in. He could end it in ten seconds flat. But… she didn’t sound like someone who needed saving. She sounded like someone finishing something.
And he wanted to see what she’d look like when the door opened.
Suddenly the door opened, two women half-naked and barefooted ran out screaming, not caring if someone was by the door.
Damian took a peek into the opened room. Suddenly, Selena stepped out, looking a bit wild, a little blood stain on the hem of her coat, hair a bit tousled.
Damian didn’t say anything, he just observed her, leaned on the wall and dragging his cigarette.
Selena didn’t even spare him a glance, just brushed past him as she walked ahead.
Damian took a glance into the room, Silas was hurled by the edge of his table, groaning and wheezing curses.
He didn’t even bother stepping in. Just gave a cold smile and walked ahead, trying to catch up with Selena, but by the time he got back to the club, she was gone. Just like a gust of wind, she disappeared without a trace.
He took the last drag of his cigarette and crushed the butt beneath his feet. “She’s fast,” he muttered to himself.
He immediately texted Asher that he had some work to do at the office and left the club.
Selena was putting together files for her meeting with KS Group the next day when someone knocked and stepped in. She raised her head to meet Jenna but instead her eyes lit up.“Mia? What are you doing here?” She was but surprised on seeing her at the office. “Wait did you call me?” She searched for her phone amidst the pile of papers on her desk.Mia rushed to her side, “no I didn’t call you. I wanted to surprise you.” She wrapped her arms around Selena who was sitting and dragged her up to stand facing her.“What happened to you? Are you okay?” She kept asking, checking Selena’s body. Mia dragged Selena away from the files to the twin couch in the office. She had texted Selena the previous day that she had a family emergency and would come visit her at home today instead.“What happened baby?” She held Selena’s hand in hers. “Why did you go off grid? Grandpa Tate even called me. I was terrified.” She replied, showing off all the emotions she felt to Selena. “Something happened at t
Selena stepped into the sitting room and froze at the sight of many worried faces. She felt a little bit guilty. She wasn’t used to people worrying about her, and last night she hadn’t thought of how her plans would affect anyone else.“Grandpa!” She called out, rushing towards Duncan Tate’s side. She was a bit scared he’d give her a scolding, but he held her palms instead, looking over her to see if she was hurt. He patted the space on the couch beside him.“I’m glad you’re okay.”Immediately he said that, the dark gloom around the house seemed to dissipate. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief and the servants left to continue their businesses, leaving just Jenna and Mr. Wilson with them in the living room.Selena swallowed hard. A man she’d only known for a few months cared more than a family she had grown up with. Remembering the Millers, she dismissed her thoughts, focusing on the pr
Still in the room, Selena held her purse loosely in her arms. And as if struck by lightning, her mind went back. “7:37 a.m.??? Oh my goodness!” She yelled, fishing for her phone. She managed to pick up her phone but it was off. The battery must have died. She turned to Damian, “Uhmm… Mister…”“Damian. Just call me Damian.” He responded.“Mr. Damian, please can I borrow your phone? I need to call someone.”He unlocked his phone and handed it to her.“Thank you.” She replied but before typing, she realized she had not memorized Duncan Tate’s number yet.She decided to call the only number she could recall.“Hello?” the other voice sounded.“It’s me,” Selena replied softly.“Selena?! Jeez, you scared the crap out of all of us. Where are you?” Mia responded
The next morning, Selena’s eyes fluttered open, and her throat was dry. She took a look at her surroundings and it wasn’t familiar. The room was dark, and the only light coming in was from the slight space between the curtains. The door to the room opened and she shut her eyes immediately, pretending like she was still asleep. The footsteps got closer to her, when the person bent closer to her, she grabbed his neck and flipped him onto the bed opening her eyes.“Aaarrhhh! He screamed, “Please don’t kill me!” Selena looked at him closely, he didn’t seem harmful but she couldn’t let her guard down. The door opened and two other men rushed in.“Aaarrhhh, Noel, Damian help me, she’s trying to kill me!” The man in Selena’s arms screamed. Noel was too shocked by what he saw. Damian had a little smile on his lips. He looked at Selena even in her disheveled appearance, she still looked alluring. Her eyes were cold, and her body was alert. Selena watched the two at the door. She recognized
Back at the Jewel Days Private Lounge, Deborah and Mr. Louitin were at it. Mr. Louitin had completely lost all rationality and was plunging hard into Deborah and from the lewd sounds she was making, one could tell she was enjoying it too.The door suddenly flung open. The two still totally engrossed in their activity didn’t notice someone had entered the room.Mrs. Louiton watched her husband being ridden by another woman and she lost all sanity. She ran up to Deborah and pulled her by the hair.Deborah Leeds screamed at the top of her voice. Her face displayed total horror when she saw the woman. “Mrs… Mrs. Louitin?”“Oh, you do know who I am? You bitch, scheming mistress, I’ll teach you a lesson today.” Kate Louitin gave Deborah a sounding slap.By this time, Mr. Louitin was half dressed. He was shocked at the sight of his wife beating up Deborah Leeds. He had never seen her like
Damian was surprised at the woman in his arms. She was always running into trouble. He had tried to look for her for months but it was like she didn’t exist. Now she showed up in front of him and was in his arms. He had come here for a business dinner, he was just about to leave when Noel Ackermann signaled to him. The facial recognition alert had rang a few minutes ago but he hadn’t noticed it since he had his notifications silenced due to the meeting. He had found her and she was in the same space as he was. He opened the door to the private room and found a familiar figure staggering down the hallway. Was she drunk? He followed her to the parking lot not knowing whether to approach her or not. He noticed her falling and quickly caught her. She looked at him, first in fear and then in acceptance. She wanted to say something but fainted immediately. She seemed different from the last time he saw her. She had a less dangerous air around her, he didn’t know if it was because she h
