The next morning, Selena’s eyes fluttered open, and her throat was dry. She took a look at her surroundings and it wasn’t familiar. The room was dark, and the only light coming in was from the slight space between the curtains.

The door to the room opened and she shut her eyes immediately, pretending like she was still asleep. The footsteps got closer to her, when the person bent closer to her, she grabbed his neck and flipped him onto the bed opening her eyes.

“Aaarrhhh! He screamed, “Please don’t kill me!” Selena looked at him closely, he didn’t seem harmful but she couldn’t let her guard down.

The door opened and two other men rushed in.

“Aaarrhhh, Noel, Damian help me, she’s trying to kill me!” The man in Selena’s arms screamed.

Noel was too shocked by what he saw. Damian had a little smile on his lips. He looked at Selena even in her disheveled appearance, she still looked alluring. Her eyes were cold, and her body was alert.

Selena watched the two at the door. She recognized Damian as the man who caught her last night. She noticed a playful smile on Damian’s lips, and she let go of Aaron who ran over to hide behind Damian.

“What… what was that Damian? Why did you bring a crazy woman here?” He was truly angry and embarrassed that a small woman like her could subdue him.

“Shut up!” Damian retorted, his eyes were cold with a tint of mockery.

He walked over to Selena.

Selena watched as the man walked towards her, he was the kind of man one could only find in fantasy novels. He was wearing a tucked-in white shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbow. His eyes were cold but when Selena looked closely, they held a seductive look that she was sure he didn’t even mean to portray. This man was dangerous and sexy at the same time.

Her senses were more alert than usual. The man’s voice disrupted her thoughts.

“Are you okay?” Damian asked, a bit of concern in his voice.

Selena was dumbfounded for a minute. His voice sounded like it was laced with pure honey and a bit of ice. The type of voice that could make you weak in the knees.

Selena was shocked by her mind. What was she having such wild thoughts about a stranger?

Aaron was dumbstruck at Damian’s calm questioning. ‘Of course, you can see that she is perfectly okay. Maybe just physically though but not mentally. Who wakes up and grabs the doctor’s neck? She’s mentally unstable!.’ He screamed inside his head still standing at the door in fear of Selena grabbing him again.

“I… I’m fine. Where am I?” She asked. Her voice was a bit hoarse. The room resembled a hotel suite but the bed was more of an advanced hospital bed.

Damian poured her a glass of water from the bedside table. “You’re in a private clinic. I brought you here.” He said handing the glass over to her. “You must be thirsty.”

Selena took the cup from him and stared at the glass for a while. Her face betrayed her thoughts.

“Don’t worry, it’s not drugged.” He said casually understanding her skepticism. “And that’s Dr. Aaron,” he said pointing at the man she had just pinned down earlier. “He’s been taking care of you since last night.”

She felt a wave of embarrassment hit her, she took a sip of water and bowed her head in apology, “I’m sorry doctor. I thought you were someone else.”

Aaron took this as an opportunity for him to step inside. He scratched his head awkwardly, “It’s fine. You just gave me quite a scare back there.” He felt a cold glare piercing through the back of his head and he turned towards Damian. Sure it was him, Damian nudged his head forward.

“Oh yes, before I forget. How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine, just a bit of a headache.” She replied, placing her hand on her head.

“Mmm… it’s expected”.

“Do you remember what happened yesterday?” Damian’s voice sounded in.

Selena’s eyes went cold as she thought of Deborah. She still had some scores to settle with her. She adjusted her look and smiled innocently.

“I’m sorry, I don’t quite remember. It all seems vague.”

“It’s understandable,” Aaron responded. He didn’t think anything of it as he had seen many cases of women not remembering anything after being drugged.

But Damian’s eyes lingered on the girl. Her eyes told a different story from her lips. He knew she remembered it all but probably she didn’t want them in her business.

His lips curled up into a meaningful smile. He was getting more intrigued by this little woman in front of him.

Selena noticed Damon’s look and she gave him a brief smile. She felt like he had seen through her but she didn’t care.

“What’s the time?” She asked fishing for her phone.

Noel walked in just in time and handed her purse over to her. “It’s 7:37 a.m., Miss.”

She looked at him raising her brows in question.

“Oh apologies for my ignorance, I’m Noel Ackermann. His…” he pointed at Damian, “assistant. I drove the car here.” He replied as if wanting to be part of the heroic team.

He didn’t mention Damian’s name more address him in his title as that was a rule of Damian’s outside. Unless it was crucial, he was just Damian.

“Okay, thank you.” she nodded.

Noel left and Aaron followed behind him. As soon as they passed the door, Aaron dragged Noel by the arm. “Hey, what’s with Damian’s lips? He gets into a fight?” That’s when Noel remembered the scene in the car, but he couldn’t tell whether Aaron or Damian might have his head on a platter.

“I don’t know, I guess he must have tripped over something.”

Aaron wasn’t buying that answer but he didn’t push further, if Noel couldn’t tell him then it must have been something crucial. He decided he would ask Damian later when he intended to give him an ointment for the bruise.

Damian was surprised at the woman in his arms. She was always running into trouble. He had tried to look for her for months but it was like she didn’t exist. Now she showed up in front of him and was in his arms. He had come here for a business dinner, he was just about to leave when Noel Ackermann signaled to him. The facial recognition alert had rang a few minutes ago but he hadn’t noticed it since he had his notifications silenced due to the meeting. He had found her and she was in the same space as he was. He opened the door to the private room and found a familiar figure staggering down the hallway. Was she drunk? He followed her to the parking lot not knowing whether to approach her or not. He noticed her falling and quickly caught her. She looked at him, first in fear and then in acceptance. She wanted to say something but fainted immediately. She seemed different from the last time he saw her. She had a less dangerous air around her, he didn’t know if it was because she h
