MasukRosie pov.
It didnât take me much time to find a contract to sell my car. After all, I know this city very well. I didnât even argue with the dealer to increase the price. I had no time. I took the money and left. It was only three lakhs.
I couldnât even pay five, so how could I ever pay ten?
Iâve already given everything I had, and now God wants to take my last precious thing, my world, my Misthi.
I went to the terrace, just wanting some peace. When I reached the last few stairs, my legs gave up. I sank down, sitting on the cold steps. Tears started to fall, my whole body trembling.
âWhy, God why me, always?â
I whispered.
âI canât take it anymore. Please, help meâ
But deep inside, I knew no one would help me. No one ever did.
For the first time, I felt truly broken.
Misthiâs words echoed in my head
âMy brave Mammaâ
How could I tell her that Iâm not her brave Mamma? That Iâm not even her real mother?
Just thinking of it tore me apart inside.
Then suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I froze in shock. Someone had touched me. I tried to stand and turn, but in my panic, my foot slipped off the edge of the stairs. I lost my balance, falling backward but just in time, my hand caught onto something.
It was him, the man with those ocean eyes.
I clutched his shirt tightly, but it tore apart, and again, I almost fell. Then he caught my hand firmly and pulled me toward him.
I closed my tearful eyes and buried my face in his chest, sobbing uncontrollably.
He held me without a word, then lifted me effortlessly into his arms. I flinched, but my struggle was useless. He was too strong.
He carried me up to the terrace and gently set me down. I looked away, unsure of what to do. Then words escaped my trembling lips,
âThâŠthank you.â
When I glanced at his shirt half torn I stammered,
âAhh Iâll pay you for itâ
He stepped closer. God, he was dangerously handsome, his eyes could make anyone lose control.
I swallowed hard, whispering, âYesâ and took a step back.
He said calmly, âItâs Eighty thousand
My eyes widened in shock. I quickly opened my bag, searching for a bandage.
My documents fell to the ground, but I didnât care.
I picked up a small piece of his shirt and tried to patch it together, applying the bandage with trembling hands.
He just stood there, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
Was he mocking me?
Then he noticed the wet part of his shirt soaked from my tears.
âIâm sorry, sir,â I whispered shakily.
âI didnât mean toâ
He spoke softly, his voice suddenly gentle, âWhy are you crying, Sweetheart?â
My heart skipped. Did he just call me sweetheart? Was he insane?
I straightened up, forcing myself to stay polite.
âItâs nothing,â I muttered and started walking away.
Then his deep voice stopped me. âAngelâs Loan Departmentâ
I froze. He was holding my scattered documents.
âSo, you wanted to take a loan,â he said slowly, his tone unreadable.
âBut it got rejected, right, Miss huu?â
The way he pronounced âhuuâ irritated me, but I didnât care. I saw a glimpse of hope. Maybe just maybe he could help me.
I turned and nodded. âYes. I need money.â
âHow much?â he asked.
âItâs ten lakhs,â I said softly, staring at the ground.
He lifted my chin gently. âSo thatâs why youâre crying, huu?â
I stepped back and nodded silently.
A smirk appeared on his face again and it made my blood boil. I turned to leave, but then he said,
âIâll give you as much money as you want.â
Before he could finish, I turned around quickly. âIâm not that type of girl!â I snapped.
He raised a brow. âNo, I didnât mean that. You donât have to sleep with me. Just come with me to a party.â
A party? Seriously?
But I didnât have any other option. For Misthi, I could bear anything.
It was just one night. One party. After that, Misthi would be fine, and we would leave this place forever.
He continued, âI promise you, Iâll never hurt you, not unless you want me to. Itâs just a party, for now.â
What nonsense was he talking about? Why would I ever want someone to hurt me?
But I didnât focus on that. My whole mind was on the money. I needed it no matter what.
âOkay,â I said quietly, my voice trembling. âIâm ready.â
Tears wouldnât stop falling down my cheeks.
He stepped closer to me, and when I tried to move back, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me against him. My heart stopped for a moment and I couldn't even breathe.
His thumb brushed away my tears gently, and he whispered, â save themâ
I just nodded, frozen in place, trying to move but unable to.
Then he leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss on my forehead. My whole body went still. I didn't know what was happening anymore.
He handed me a check with his signature on it and turned to leave, his steps calm and confident.
But I just stood there, staring, trying to process what had just happened.
I felt like someone had stabbed a knife into my chest. I tried to calm myself down. I really, really needed the money. Thatâs the only reason I agreed to him.
âItâs just a party,â I whispered to myself.
âYou can do it. Yes, you can do it. Itâs the only option.â
I filled out the hospital bill and paid the amount. Then I sat outside the theatre. It had been almost three and a half hours. Every second felt like years.
Finally, the doors opened. My heart started pounding again. I jumped to my feet.
Dr. Yasvi walked out.
âRosie,â she called.
âYes, yes, Doctor, how is she?â I asked, my eyes already filling with tears.
âSheâs fine,â Dr. Yasvi said gently. âThe operation was successful.â
I let out a shaky breath, my knees almost giving out. Then she placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.
âDonât worry,â she said softly. âYouâre not alone anymore. The one who supports you is strong enough to face even death.â
I didnât understand what she meant, and honestly, I didnât care to ask. My only concern was my daughter.
âCan I please see her?â I asked quickly.
Dr. Yasvi nodded. âYes, you can.â
My feet couldnât wait any longer. I rushed inside the room.
Misthi was lying on the hospital bed, surrounded by wires and machines. Her eyes were half-open, weak but alive.
I looked at her, trying to be brave, but her pain broke me from the inside.
I leaned down and hugged her gently, not too tight, afraid of hurting her but with all the strength I had left in my heart.
She whispered something, her voice barely audible.
âYes, my baby? Do you want something? Are you hurt?â I asked softly.
She smiled faintly. âI love you, Mamma.â
I kissed her little hand, tears burning my eyes.
âMamma loves you more than anything, my child. Donât worry, you just need some rest. Everything will be fine soonâ
A nurse handed me a food tray, and I started feeding her gently with my hands. Suddenly, she said, âMamma, Dad came to see me again during the operation.â
I smiled weakly. âIn your dreams again, hmm?â
But her next words made my hand freeze in midair.
âNo, Mamma this time he really came.â
She pushed my hand toward her mouth and took a small bite.
âH-how, baby? W-where?â I asked, my voice trembling.
âMamma, when you werenât here, I was very scared.
I was crying, and then I saw him standing outside the door through the small window gap.
He told the doctors not to hurt me. He wanted to come inside, but they didnât let him. So he gave me this.â
She reached under her pillow and pulled out a soft unicorn teddy. âLook, Mamma.â
I held it in my hands. It was soft, warm, and new. My chest tightened.
âBaby is he the same one you see in your dreams?â
She shook her head. âNo, Mamma.â
That gave me a little relief, maybe she just saw someone else, someone random. But then she whispered in my ear with a tiny giggle,
âHeâs even more handsome in real life, Mamma. So hot.â
âOh God,â I muttered under my breath. This girl was going to give me a heart attack. I tried to sound strict.
âMishti! Didnât I tell you not to take anything from strangers? Then whyâ
She cut me off in her sweet, innocent voice. âMamma, heâs not a stranger. Heâs my Dadda.â
Her words struck me like lightning. Was she telling the truth? Did he really come to meet her? What if he saw her, what if he takes her away from me?
No. No, I canât let that happen.
I set the tray aside and gently stroked her hair. âMishti, baby, finish your food. Iâll be right back.â
I stepped out of the room, heading to find Dr. Yasvi asked when Mishti would be fine, when we could leave this city, and most importantly, who that man was. But a nurse stopped me.
âMaâam, Dr. Yasviâs shift is over. Sheâs gone home.â
Of course. My fate never makes things easy for me. It has always been my enemy, never my support.
Then my phone buzzed an unknown number.
Be ready. Your parcel is in your room.
Oh God how could I forget? The party. The money.
And I still needed another five lakhs. I had to attend it.
But wait, how did he know my room number?
Shit. Who the hell is he? What have I done? Iâve let him
know where I live.
Fine. I wonât take Mishti there no, I canât. Tonight, Iâll just attend the party, take the money, and once sheâs okay Iâll leave this city.
And this time, Iâll never, ever come back
Rhys pov.I only reached the hospital to find someone had killed one of the men. That meant he knew something. He knew. I hadnât even checked the cameras yet, because I already knew who could do this: Kian. He was the only one who could stand against me, my own blood, my enemy. But Iâd lost my last hope. Once more, I felt totally powerless, helpless. No clues. No other options. Then I heard a cry as I passed the operating theatre. My feet stopped. Everything went silent. The only sound I could hear was my heartbeat and that cry sounded painfully familiar. My eyes filled with tears without me realizing it.Through the glass of the closed door I could just make out a figure. She was crying while nurses tried to calm her.I was about to push the door open when a doctor stepped in front of me.âSir, you canât go inside,â she said. âPlease try to understand.âshe know me. How could she not? I opened this hospital. My voice was rough. âWho is she?âThe doctor hesitated, then spoke quietly.

Rosie povâŠ..I packed everything, put it into the car, paid the house rent, and moved to New York, the city that had snatched everything from me.As I entered the city, I immediately started feeling a panic attack and intense anxiety. My breathing became heavy. I couldn't risk going back to my old home, so I rented a room again. It was too small, really but I had to adjust. Nearby, my baby, Misthi, was sleeping soundly. At the first sight of sun rays, I started the car. Misthi was with me because I had no one here to care for her. Since I was short on money, I decided to take out a loan from the biggest loan providerAngel's Office Department. I'd heard about their policies. They were too strict but it was the only option I had. I needed the money, though I didn't know how I was going to pay it back."Mamma! Mamma!" Misthi's voice broke my thoughts."Yes, my child?""Mamma, I want ice cream!"Oh, no. She caught colds very fast; I couldn't allow it. I tried to be strict. "No, Misthi, n

I had just stepped outside when someone called me from behind a fat old woman. A selfish woman. She looked at me with her usual cold expression. âGirl, when are you going to pay the rent?âI gave her a polite smile. âIâll pay it soon, Aunty. As soon as I get my salary, Iâll pay the rent first. I just need a little more time.âShe frowned. âI canât give you more time. ROSIE POV.The rain was pouring, lightning was striking, the storm was roaring but not louder than my heart. The bridge trembled under the storm; the river below was raging as if it wanted to swallow every person on the bridge."Faster, Mom please!" They're right behind us!" I shouted, clutching my seatbelt. Three cars, maybe four, were following us.They were screaming, "Hey, bitch, no one can save you! Haha!" Another one yelled, "Just have, some fun!"I was almost crying. My phone was soaked by the rain. There were no signals, no help and my soul left my body the moment I lifted my eyes from the phone and saw what was ahead. Another car was speeding straight toward us.The last words that came out of my broken throat were,"Mom careful"But my words died before they reached her.And then A sound deafening, sharp metal against metal.Glass shattered and scattered. The screams were lost in the storm. The river swallowed the blood, and the wounds were washed away by raindrops.I wasn'
