OLIVIA JUNE

They stood tall near our table, hands shoved into their pockets. The one in the middle locked eyes with me, his perfect smile revealing a set of white teeth that seemed to glint maliciously.

'Damn it, Olivia, your boyfriend is sitting next to you for crying out loud.'

Their bodies were well-built and muscular. The girl on the left sneered. "Look at this. Look who we have here."

"It seems what we did to your young sister wasn't enough, huh?" the guy beside the middle one mocked.

I glanced at Jessica, raising an eyebrow. "Young sister?" I questioned, but Jessica remained silent, her gaze fixed downward, hands trembling.

"I think I found myself a new girlfriend, guys." The middle guy said, his stare boring deep into my soul.

My heart was racing.

The crew responded with a chorus of "Ohhh." as the students in the cafeteria fell mute, their eyes glued to us. It was clear; Lewis’s earlier remarks had made everyone's loyalties clear.

Suddenly, my boyfriend Jerry slammed our food down in anger and stood up, his face flushed. "Not a chance. She is my girlfriend."

I stood beside him, gripping his arm. "Damn right, I’m his girlfriend." I shot at the middle guy, smirking.

I noticed his eyebrows twitch with annoyance.

The girl among them then remarked. "Too bad; no one says no to Reuben Foster." She smirked at me.

"And too bad that I will be the first to say that to him." I replied, grinning at her. I grabbed Jessica and Jerry's arms, saying."I just lost my appetite. Let’s go."

As we attempted to leave, Reuben abruptly seized Jerry's collar and punched him. Jerry fell, allowing Reuben to climb on top of him and unleash a flurry of punches. His friends joined in, mercilessly stomping my boyfriend with their shoes.

Fury surged within me. I dashed to Reuben, pushing him off Jerry with all my strength. "What the heck, man?" I shouted, my voice laced with anger.

"I said your mine. Trust me, and if your boyfriend doesn’t understand what that means, this is just the beginning." Reuben responded, standing tall.

Jerry finally got to his feet, blood streaming down his face. I rushed to him, but he pushed me away before running out of the cafeteria.

What had I done now?

"Bloody hell." I muttered, flipping them off as I pulled Jessica out of the cafeteria.

I heard Reuben taunt. "Y'all are going to pay."

We headed straight to the guys’ dorms, but to my surprise, Jerry refused to open the door for me. I screamed his name in desperation, but the security guard took notice and informed me that I wasn’t allowed in that section.

I was left to make my way back to my dorm with Jessica, planning to grab my phone when, to my dismay, the three guys again loomed by my door, accompanied by several other students.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT HERE, IDIOTS?" I screamed at them, frustration spilling over.

Reuben smirked and replied, "Can’t I check on my girlfriend now?" He raised an eyebrow playfully and placed a hand theatrically over his heart. "Excuse my rudeness; I’m Reuben Foster. This one on the right is Vincent and on the left is Ryker." he said, his smile wide.

If he weren’t such a bully, I thought, ending my relationship with Jerry to date him wouldn’t be a difficult choice. With his thick eyebrows, long lashes, captivating green eyes, and a body that screamed confidence, Reuben was undeniably attractive.

But no, I wouldn't even dare to entertain thoughts of him in that way; he is nothing but trash and a bully.

"I don't care who—" Before I could finish my statement, his lips were on mine, soft and mint-scented. I heard the sound of cameras clicking and students exclaiming. "Wow."

I forcefully pushed him away, causing him to stumble back against the door with a thud. "What the heck, Reuben?"

Reuben began to caress my arms and said, "Come on..." But I wouldn't give him the satisfaction; I swatted his hands away.

"Get lost." I replied, not bothering to look back as I stormed into our bedroom and locked the dorm door behind me.

I noticed Jessica seemed ready to say something, but I silenced her with a gesture and threw myself onto my bed.

What a long, exhausting day. It didn’t take long for me to drift off to sleep.

The next morning, I was jolted awake by the incessant buzzing of my phone. When I checked it, I found a multitude of messages from the Oak Mountain School group chat, along with missed calls from my mother and Jerry, who I had seen the day before.

Realizing the time, I panicked; I had completely missed my alarm due to the notifications. I was almost late.

Another notification popped up, this time from Jerry, stating that he was coming to talk to me. I quickly rushed to the bathroom to go through my morning routine and get dressed.

I looked for Jessica but found her bed empty. The group chat messages continued to buzz, but I didn’t have time to check them all. I silenced my phone and headed out to meet Jerry.

To my surprise, he was waiting outside my dorm room. "Hey love, how are you feeling today?" I greeted him, hoping to see a smile. Damn, they did a great job on him.

"Don't you dare coddle me after what you did." he snapped harshly.

What was he talking about? What did I do this time? He took my hand, and we walked into the forest area.

"Please tell me what you mean." I urged as he continued forward, ignoring my question.

He halted near a tall tree and released my hand. "I understand you were upset about what happened yesterday in the cafeteria, but why take it out on me?" I pressed.

"You know exactly why, Olivia." He raised his voice, and seeing my confused expression, he added. "Because you kissed Reuben in front of everyone, and from the looks of it, you enjoyed it, eyes closed and all."

I stood there, dumbfounded, Reuben's words replaying in my mind. "You all are going to pay." Was this what he had meant?.

I grasped Jerry's hand and insisted."He forced that kiss! You know I would never do that to you. Why would I kiss someone who has done something so terrible to you?"

He yanked his hand away and glared at me with disgust. "Don’t touch me. I saw how you looked at him, and because of you, I look like a imbecile."

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I stared at him, crushed that my boyfriend would believe a stranger over me.

I turned to walk away but paused to say. "As much as I try to explain that he forced that kiss and you refuse to believe me, I’m done, Jerry. We’re finished." I stormed out of the forest area, sobbing.

Olivia's heart felt like it was shattering all over again, fragments of doubt and fear threatening to consume her. The sound of Reuben's car pulling into the driveway had ignited a spark of desperation within her. The anxiety rushing through her veins made her feel vulnerable, exposed. When Reuben finally approached, his presence both soothed and terrified her. Reuben groaned out loud and squeezed the steering wheel tightly. "Stay away from me. That's going to help me much more than you think."He heard Olivia gasp and knew that he had just hurt her feelings, but he had no time to explain anything to her right now. Reuben was in too much pain, and it was already so hard for him to resist her. If Olivia was next to him, he wouldn’t be able to last much longer. As they pulled up to the parking lot, Olivia turned to Reuben, and he tried not to look at her, knowing she was far too tempting."I know I’m not your type and I always cause trouble for you. So I understand why you don't want to be with me. And I won’t ask that of you again." Olivia said in a broken voice that pierced his heart. "But there's just one thing I want to ask you: don't just ever leave. I don't care if we can't be together. It will suck knowing that I have these feelings for you that I can barely control, but what will hurt more is not having you by my side."Reuben went rig

Reuben had turned Olivia down yet again, but this time, she understood his reasons. He wasn't the same as her; he was different—much different. How could they ever be compatible when Reuben wasn't even human? There were things about him that Olivia might never grasp fully. Yet, despite this awareness, her body still craved him. Olivia still wanted Reuben. He was the first man with whom she had felt such a profound connection—not even with Jason at school or Jerry, her first boyfriend, who had somehow happened to be human.Olivia knew that just yesterday she had claimed she needed to move on, but today proved to be another battle. Her heart and mind were totally at odds, fighting against the very idea of detachment. It didn't help that Reuben was wearing a black t-shirt, accentuating his muscular arms. Did he even realize the effect he had on her? Who was she kidding? Any color would suit him—he was that undeniably good looking."We have another scene to shoot on set." Reuben informe

Should Olivia call for help? The thought crossed her mind, but she hesitated, not wishing to embarrass Reuben yet again. Such an outcry would undoubtedly make headlines, and Olivia wanted to avoid that at all costs. She had already done enough damage to his reputation, but if these men persisted, she might have no choice but to scream for assistance."Olivia?"At that moment, Olivia looked up and caught sight of Reuben. He paused, taking in the scene before him.His eyes began to glow—not the familiar golden hue Olivia had seen before, but a striking dark blue. It wasn't just Olivia who noticed; the men around them were equally startled."What the hell is he?" one of the men shouted in fear.Olivia gasped in horror as she watched the two men lift off the ground, seemingly suspended in mid-air with no one touching them. She turned to Reuben, her eyes wide, but rather than feeling frightened for her own safety, her concern shifted to him. It took considerable effort to tear his gaze away; the stairs seemed to stretch on interminably, a feeling he had never experienced before. As Olivia approached, Reuben instinctively closed his eyes, his body igniting with a rush of awareness at her proximity. He clenched his jaw, grappling with a wave of lustful thoughts that threatened to overwhelm him.“Are you ready?” Olivia whispered, her voice carrying an inviting tone that further stirred Reuben’s emotions.Once the evening concluded, he would need to make another appointment with the doctor. This reaction to Olivia was not typical, and he sensed that something deeper lay behind it.He couldn't recall anyone on his home planet being so infatuated with a woman. Even his parents, despite their affection, never displayed such overt adoration in his presence.“Yes,” Reuben replied, his voice sounding rough to

Olivia couldn't explain it, but something deep within her told her that Reuben would leave her the moment she discovered his secret. Reuben packed his car near Melissa's and got out to speak with her.Melissa was hanging on the side of her car. "I'm sure you are here to apologize." she said, dropping her purse into her car through the open window."Melissa," Reuben whispered. "please don't make this difficult for me. We've known each other even before we came here to Earth. You were the only woman in my life for the longest time. I care about you deeply." Reuben stepped closer to her and continued."But I no longer want a relationship with you. The woman I once knew is no longer there; you have changed. I have spoken to you about this multiple times, and you continued to dismiss it." Reuben said, looking Melissa in the eyes."I’ve tried to keep the relationship going for you. I have given you more than a year to try and make it work. I just can’t keep pretending that I want this when I don’t."
