Lyric Adams pov

Finishing with my bath, Rita handed me a highly fragrant lotion and told me to apply it to my entire body.

“It's the Alpha's favorite scent. He demands that all of his bedmates wear it,” she explained.

Sniffing it, my face screwed up at the obnoxious floral smell. Sneezing from it, I wiped my nose.

“I would rather retain my own scent. This is appalling to me. It's my hide, like you mentioned prior. So I will be punished for not wearing it if it's that much of an issue,” I muttered as I handed it back to her.

Shaking her head, she took it and set it back on the side table.

“Put on that robe for now and follow me. I will show you where we sleep.

Doing as she asked, I glanced at her, turning around and saw deep scarring on her bare back.

Feeling my eyes, she sighed.

“When I first arrived, I was disobedient, was flogged, and placed at a lower rank. I've learned to do what is necessary to survive here. Anyway, the top three females have rooms upstairs,” she mumbled softly, then added, “Jasmine spends the most nights with Alpha and is Luna's sister.”

Shuddering, I pried for further information.

“What is the deal between Alpha and Luna?”

Snorting rudely, she smirked.

“They are in a contracted union because Stella's father tried and failed to take the Silver Mountain pack. Alpha Camden Sinclair took his daughters and made them his sex slaves. His brother Gregory had his eyes on Stella, so Camden made her his Luna just to spite him for money and prestige. Stella enjoys the arrangement and the power she has. She is also a horrible bitch.”

Furrowing my brow I inquired about the brother since he was my former Alpha.

“Does Alpha Gregory Sinclair still come here and have they settled their differences?”

“Yes, he does visit, but not frequently. They have come to an understanding, but that's enough gossip. I must show you where we sleep,” she insisted and I realized that she held the handcuffs in her hands.

“So much for gaining a friend,” I thought in discomfort.

Leading me down a narrow hall, I noticed the room was sectioned off with small cots and trunks inside each area.

Turning toward me, Rita said, “You have a choice between this space and the other one we passed. The farthest room is mine.”

Looking back, I told her that I would take the room closest to the bathroom, and she nodded.

“I will let you borrow something alluring from me, then after you change, I will cuff you, and you can go to your area and wait for the guard to return to collect you.”

Shivering slightly, my nerves were shot.

Rummaging through a simple metal rack of clothes, Rita took a white lace mini sheer dress off a hanger for me.

I slipped the form-fitting fabric over my head and pulled it down to the center of my thighs.

Exposed for anyone's eyes, I crossed my arms across my breasts as my nipples protruded from the thin material.

“Um, Rita…does it hurt,” I asked curiously.

She gave me a look of befuddlement.

“Does what hurt, Lyric?”

“Sex,” I murmured shyly in embarrassment, making the mature woman's eyes widen.

“Oh shit, you're truly a virgin!”

“Yeah,” I muttered sullenly, and Rita patted my back as she hissed through her clenched teeth.

Looking sympathetically at me, she nodded.

“Unfortunately it's going to be rough for you. Alpha is a well-endowed, rough lover, and your first time will lack the emotions of a man who cherishes you. Think of him as a phycopath that fucks you and gets off on torture. But if you please him, you might bump Jasmine from her top spot…but then again, you'll have a new hornet nest of issues to contend with,” she explained and gave me a look of pity.

“Sorry, Lyric, but I have to cuff you now or be punished myself,” she added begrudgingly.

My heart was in my throat as she clasped the cuffs on my wrists.

Thankfully they were on the front this time.

“Is Alpha a Lycan?”

Giving me a smirk she nodded.

“Both brothers are, didn't your wolf sense it?” She he questioned me curiously, and I nodded slowly and said, “Yeah, but I just wanted clarification.”

“Maybe that witch put a blinding curse on you when she placed that bracelet,” she offered, and I shrugged.

“Good luck, Lyric,” Rita said softly as I nodded and then walked to the area I had chosen.

Wishing I could brush my damp hair, I sat on the edge of the canvas cot and exhaled softly.

Thinking about Camden, I tried to recall how he looked.

He had inky shoulder-length black hair and rich, golden-yellow eyes framed with black lashes. He was a handsome man full of bitterness and pure hate, like his older brother Gregory.

“This is going to be hell on earth,” I murmured and realized that I would rather welcome death than have to submit to him.

Gazing at the copper bracelet on my wrist, I realized that if Camden knew it was there, he would relish in extending my death in torturous ways.

“Do I suffer now or later,” I muttered as I chewed on my bottom lip.

Hearing heavy footsteps from the floor above, I asked Rita the time.

“It's one in the afternoon. Our meal will be brought down soon if you're hungry,” she responded.

“Thanks,” I called back. Reaching up with both my hands, I tried to run my fingers haphazardly through the damp strands of my hair.

At least I got it out of my line of sight.

The guard who had brought me to Rita came down the stairs with a tray in his hands and called out for her.

I watched her scurrying past my room to greet him.

“Thanks, Ramsey, she cooed as I rolled my eyes, hearing the guard grumbling sourly back at her.

Seeing the man heading back, I eyed Rita, who came into my room with the tray.

“Romanov and Ramsey, huh? Do all the guards' names start with R?”

Creasing her brow, she said, “No, just those two. The beta is named Lev, and there are many others, but I don't know their names because they are at the pack house.”

She then placed a bowl and a plate of bread on the trunk in my room.

“Broth and bread, enjoy,” she quipped with a sarcastic smile.

Lifting the steaming bowl, I muttered Great.

“Eat, you will need the energy for the Alpha who WILL be sending for you. He's got a very hearty appetite for young, beautiful females,” she asserted, and I nodded slowly.

Groaning internally, I was dreading getting brought to his chamber.

Lyric Adams pov Cesan leaned over me suddenly and hovered there staring into my eyes that shone off his own. He smiled as he nodded and said, “We should head back before your brother sends guards.” I let out the breath I held, wishing for him to have kissed me, but he hadn't. “Okay,” I responded in disappointment while I lowered my face. Feeling his fingers underneath my chin, I glanced at him and grinned as he pressed his mouth firmly against mine. My hands snaked slowly around his neck, and I felt his silky hair and moaned softly against his lips. Pulling him down so I was on my back, he held my ribcage as our kiss deepened. Feeling his hardening flesh against my mons, I turned my face when Ojani murmured Camden's name. I muttered sternly, “We can't do this.” “Maybe you could come to my house and stay the night…oh shit, what am I thinking,” he growled as he sat up. Side-eyeing me with a sorrowful frown, Cesan looked ashamed of himself. “Sorry, Lyric, I um, I

Lyric Adams pov Salem undid the buttons daftly and commented on the lovely dress. “How did you button them?” He asked me as he finished. Pretending like I hadn't heard him, I held my bodice while I grabbed a tee and my blue jeans. “Sister! Who buttoned up your gown?!” He growled sternly. “I asked Cesan to help,” I replied as I shut my bathroom door to change, then cringed, hearing him roar out Cesan's name. “ Why does he not like that man? I realize that he's jealous, but there's got to be more,” I muttered softly. “Ask Cesan during your walk. I'm sure he will be forthcoming with you,” Ojani answered. After getting dressed and hanging up the gown, I checked on my reflection, then went to Cesan's room. Standing in the hall before his door, I didn't notice Camden watching me in the shadows as I knocked. The door opened suddenly, and Casen stuck his head out and grinned. “Ready, beautiful?” Nodding, I told him yes shyly. “Fantastic,” he asserted as he exited, t

Lyric Adams pov Unbelievable, I thought as his desk phone started ringing and he told me to wait a moment. Sitting back down, I caught movement in my peripheral vision as Salem rushed inside, glaring at our dad. “Why are they here?” He questioned me in annoyance after seeing our dad busy. Gesturing to Sin, talking on the phone, I whispered, “He believes that it will be entertaining.” Rolling his eyes, Salem shook his head as he sat beside me. “At least he didn't invite Gregory,” he mumbled, and I nodded. “No, but he invited Cesan,” I informed him, then noticed that he had a disparaging frown on his face. “Fabulous,” he growled. Hearing the phone call end, we both eyed our father, who asked Salem to take me to Janet's house. “Her sister Jessica has already created a masterpiece for your sister to try on,” he stated firmly. Shocked by that, I eyed him oddly, then remembered that she was probably gifted like Janet. While we headed toward the doorway, Sin informed

Lyric Adams pov “Your brother didn't return with you?” My dad asked me. Heading toward him, I shook my head. “What did you mean by you having a dance?” “I want all the others of your kind to meet you. Demigods are rare, so it will benefit you to know others,” he explained as he sipped his golden liquor drink. After he swallowed, he asked me how I felt about Cesan. A grin tugged on my lip as I answered softly, “My wolf is intrigued.” Chuckling, he nodded and said, “Cesan is a good kid, so don't give credence to any foul rumors that Salem may tell you.” Furrowing my brow at him, I sat down where Cesan had been and asked why he had stopped by. Grinning slightly, Sin quipped, “He wanted to know more about you. You made quite an impression on the poor kid.” Dumbfounded by that, I shook my head, not seeing how I had done anything to pique his interest. “How old is he?” I asked curiously. “He's a fledgling, in his early twenties but very intelligent for his young age

  • Banished a Curse or Blessing    Chapter 33

Lyric Adams pov As I stepped into the forest, I noticed my right foreleg emitting light and looked at it to see my Crescent Moon mark glowing brightly through my fur. Peering up at Salem, his ribcage mark was shining brightly, too. Feeling my eyes on him, he lifted his arm to view his mark and said, “It's because we are in a God's forest, and it helps identify our lineage to the others.” Nodding I grew curious about who else would be within the mystical forest and ran ahead a few feet of my brother to find out. “Hey, I brought a robe with me in case you needed to shift to meet with anyone we may come across,” he sighed. I tilted my head at him while I growled low in acknowledgment. Preparing to dash off away from him, Salem groaned, sensing my intention. “Wait for me,” Salem shouted while I jumped over fallen logs and snickered at him, having to keep up. Running deep into the thick trees was freeing, and I was enjoying myself immensely. The new scents and sights fa

Lyric Adams pov Devastated, I peeked up at my dad, offering his hand to me. “Don't lose hope, Lyric,” he asserted as he squeezed my hand, and we exited his office for the empty living room. The scent of Camden still lingered in the air, and a tear traveled down my cheek. “I thought wolf mates cherished one another,” I muttered sullenly. “Lycans are more rough around their edges, and they are very stubborn and closed off. It takes time for them to realize what is right in front of their faces,” Salem growled as he stepped out of the shadows. Looking at him and his red eyes, I asked if Camden acted peculiar when he left. “No Sis, but that annoying female was behaving more flighty than usual and was waving a check around, telling everyone that she was rich," he answered, and I inhaled sharply as I eyed my father. “He was conflicted when you came out from your hiding spot. His heartbeat skipped when he saw you, but his thoughts remained unreadable,” Sin informed me Tears rolled
